Thought For Today

But God said to him, ‘Fool!  This night your soul is required of you; and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”  Luke 12:20, 21

Thank You Lord for teaching us over and over that the most important gift in life You have already given us.

Thank You that because we have You we have all we need in life to allow us to relax and enjoy life.

Thank You for showing us over and over that material things great as they are are of no value when we die.

Thank You for loving us and preparing a home for us so we can relax and enjoy our lives today.

We are blessed because we have it all in You.

Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man brought forth plentifully; and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’  And he said, “I will do this; I will pull down my barns, and build larger ones; and there I will store all my grain and my goods.  And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, be merry.”  Luke 12:16 – 19

Lord we certainly all want to relax and enjoy life.  I can certainly look at  this and say – wow – this guy is really fortunate.  Look all he has been given.  He is one lucky guy.

And yet Lord we all have thought about security and all it has to offer to give us comfort in this life.  We also have all seen how quickly the things in life are gone in an instance.

Thank You Lord for this parable.

Thank You for showing us what is truly important in our lives.

Thank You that You prove to us over and over that wealth is not the most important gift we could have in our lives.

Thank You for giving us what we need.

Thank You for reminding us that because we have You we have our needs met for they are not material things.

Thank You for being our all.

Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) said to them, “Take heed, and beware of all covetousness; for a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of His possessions.”    Luke 12:15

Lord we sure are no different today than in the time when you were upon this earth.

So often Lord there are issues with inheritances today.  Seems I hear about them all the time.  There is dissatisfaction.  Often people don’t feel others are being fair.  Families are torn apart that were once united.

Thank You Lord for teaching us what is important in life.

Lord thank You for always having an answer when confronted.

Thank You that none of the questions every surprised You.

Thank You that You have promised us that if we ask You will give us the answers we need to life’s questions too.

Thank You that our lives do not consist in the abundance of possessions but rather how closely we are walking with You.

Thank You for calling each of us to a life of peace and fulfillment.

We are blessed.

One of the multitude said to Him (Jesus), “Teacher, bid my brother divide the inheritance with me.”  But He said to him, “Man, who made Me a judge or divider over you?”  Luke 12:13, 14

Lord it was very interesting yesterday that I skipped verse 14 and used verses 13 and 15.  Certainly You had something for me to see by doing that however there is a whole other meaning to the writing.

It seemed that there was always someone that was trying to get you to do or say something that would cause others to find fault with You.

Here again someone was calling on You to make a decision that someone else had already made or was going to make to settle an argument.

This man wanted his own way.  Right or wrong it was self serving.

Thank You Lord for seeing our hearts.

Thank You for knowing all things

Thank You that You could have made the decision and yet You didn’t.

Thank You that nothing is impossible with You.

Thank You for knowing what is the best for us and so often we have no clue what that is or why things happen as they do.

Thank You for Your unconditional love that calls us on to be more than we ever dreamed we could be.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued)  “And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious how or what you are to answer or what you are to say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”  Luke 12:11, 12

Lord how comforting to know that we will know what to say and when to say it because we have our eyes fixed upon You.

Thank You that You are always there to guide, direct and instruct us when we ask for directions.

Thank You that we need never fear because You know our needs and are waiting for us to ask You for help.

Thank You for being our constant help and strength.

Thank You Lord for these wonderful words that bring peace as we trust You with our lives.

(Jesus continued)  “And every one who speaks a word against the Son of man will be forgiven, but He who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.”  Luke 12:10

Lord thank You for Your forgiveness.

Thank You too Lord that there is a line we can step over that You will not forgive.

Thank You for showing us Your love for Peter after he denied You three times.

Thank You for loving us unconditionally and helping us stay close to You.

Oh to be like You Lord.  Full of Your love and understanding.

Thank You Lord that all is possible because I believe.

Thank You that moment by moment as I keep my eyes upon You I am changing into Your likeness.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued)  “And I tell you, every one who acknowledges Me before men, the Son of man also will acknowledge before the angels of God; but he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God.”  Luke 12:8, 9

Lord we all think we would never deny You because You mean so much to us.  And yet, I remember Peter so well and his denial when pushed into the corner.  I am sure he never thought he would ever deny You either.

Thank You Lord that You are there to help us when we cry out in our weakness.

Thank You that all things are possible because we believe.

Thank You that You will never leave us or forsake us.

Thank You for the strength to stand up for what we believe and the joy in having You as Lord of our lives.

Thank You for Your constant love.

Thank You Lord.

Lord once again You tell us how important we are to You.

Thank You for knowing all about us.

Thank You Lord for even knowing how many hairs are on our heads.

Thank You for the peace that You bring to each of us when we realize how much You care and know about us.

Thank You for Your words of encouragement today.

Thank You for taking our fears and replacing those fears with Your peace.

We are blessed!

(Jesus continued)  “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies?  And not one of them is forgotten before God.”  Luke 12:6

Thank You Lord that You created us and You know us.

Interesting Lord that You would pick the sparrows.   They must have been just as prevalent then as they are today.  It seems they always get the food when feeding the birds because there are so many of them compared to the other birds that I am trying to attract.

Thank You that nothing goes unnoticed by You.

Thank You for always knowing all about us and knowing what is best for us.

What a great reminder for all of us to know that You see all and know all.

Thank You that we are in Your care and Your keeping.
