And all the multitudes who assembled to see the sight, when they saw what had taken place, returned home beating their breasts. Luke 23:48
Thank You Lord for a conscience that lets us know when we are wrong.
Thank You for showing these people that Your dying on the cross was wrong.
Thank You for Your forgiviness.
Thank You for Your love.
Thank You for always being there for us.

Now when the centurion saw what had taken place, he praised God, and said, “Certainly this Man (Jesus) was innocent.” Luke 23:47
Thank You Lord for opening our eyes and showing us what truly is.
Thank you that this centurion saw all that had happened and recognized who You were.
Thank You for faith that believes without seeing.
Thank You for calling us all to have faith and believe.
Thank You for giving us more and more faith when we ask.

It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, while the sun’s light failed; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Luke 23:44, 45
Lord this is the setting – You were on the cross dying with two men – one on one side and the other on the other side. These two men were criminals. You were innocent. The sun suddenly was gone and the curtain in the temple was torn in two. What must have been in the minds of those that were there at that time. They knew something was different. Something was happening. They certainly must have wonder – who was this Jesus that was hanging on the cross.
Thank You Lord for those that still wonder ‘who is this Jesus.’
Thank You for those that seek and find You to be who You said You were.
Thank You for calling us all to You today.
Thank You for being there when we call out to You.
Oh how blessed we are Lord.

And He (Jesus) said to him, (criminal on the cross) “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” Luke 23:43
Thank You Lord for Your unconditional love for us no matter what we have done or said.
Thank You for Your love for this man that was a criminal.
Thank You for helping us forgive when we are on the side of the crime.
Lord that isn’t easy and without You so many times we could not do it.
Thank You Lord that we can have the confidence in You to do anything You ask us to do.
Oh how blessed we are Lord because You love us.

And he (criminal on the cross with Jesus) said, “Jesus remember me when You come in Your kingly power.” Luke 23:42
Thank You Lord for those that saw You for who You were while You walked on this earth.
Thank You for the faith of this man to reach out to You and accept You.
Thank You for giving us the faith to believe in what we have not seen.
Faith is a wonderful gift Lord and I thank You that as we reach out in faith You give us more and more.
Thank You for helping us because in ourselves we are often so very, very weak.
Thank You for being there to help us every step of our way.

But the other (hanging on the cross with Jesus) rebuked him, (the other man hanging on the other side of Jesus) saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” Luke 23:40, 41
Lord we are reading here about two criminals hanging on either side of You on the cross. One of the men recognized his own error and accepted who You were and why You were there. The other man only wanted to save his life and wanted You to prove who You were by saving Yourself so You could save him too. Are we any different today Lord. No – so often it is all about us.
Thank You Lord – once again I have to thank You for loving me so unconditionally.
Thank You that Your love for each of us never gives up on calling us to become more and more like You.
Thank You for Your forgiveness because we so often need it Lord as we go our own way.
Oh to be like You Lord – full of Your love and understanding.
Thank You for ALWAYS being there for us when we cry out to You.

One of the criminals who were hanged railed at Him, (Jesus) saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!” Luke 23:39
Lord, who of us might also be saying the same thing if we were next to You dying on the cross. This man wanted to live. You were the answer.
Thank You Lord for being our answer.
Thank You for always being there when we cry out for help.
Thank You for understanding everything about us emotionally and physically.
Thank You for laughing with us and thank You for crying with us.
We are blessed!!!

There was also an inscription over Him, (Jesus) “This is the King of the Jews.” Luke 23:38
Lord it is so hard to be made fun of. You understand what that is like. There You were the Son of God hanging on a cross with the sign over you saying “This is the King of the Jews.” Oh how it hurts Lord when we are doing good things and others want to drag us down.
Thank you Lord for understanding exactly how we feel when we are hurt by others.
Thank You for Your unconditional love that You give us even when we do things that do not please You.
Thank You for loving us so much that You call us out of our own selfishness and back to you.

The soldiers also mocked Him, (Jesus) coming up and offering Him vinegar, and saying, “If you are the King of the Jews, save Yourself!” Luke 23:36, 37
Lord it is so hard to have people make fun of us when we know we are innocent. You understand how we feel because You were there.
Thank You Lord for helping us through those times in life when we are misunderstood.
Thank You for being there to lift us up when those we are trying to help cause us to feel less than.
Thank You for being our strength.
Thank You for Your love.

And the people stood by, watching; but the rulers scoffed at Him (Jesus) saying, “He saved others; let Him save Himself, if He is the Christ of God, His Chosen One!” Luke 23:35
Thank You Lord for those that loved You and stood by You.
Thank You for those that continue to love us when we are going through difficult times.
Thank You that You ALWAYS love us.
