And they cast lots to divide His (Jesus) garments. Luke 23:34 b

Lord You were hanging on the cross and they were casting lots for Your garments. You were innocent. You were there for us.

Thank You Lord for hanging on that cross for me.

Thank You for Your unconditional love that I accept every day as a gift from You.

Thank You for the price You paid that I might have eternal life.

Oh how blessed I am Lord and I thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” Luke 23:34

Oh Lord thank You for Your forgiveness.

Thank You for forgiving each of us when we ask.

Thank You for forgiveness that has no strings attached.

Oh how blessed we are Lord because of Your unconditional love and forgiveness.

Thank You Lord.

And when they came to the place which is called The Skull, there they crucified Him, (Jesus) and the criminals, one on the right and one on the left. Luke 23:33

Lord it is so hard to read these verses knowing that it was me that You went through all of this.

Thank You Lord for Your unconditional love.

Thank You for the price You paid because of Your love.

Thank You for continuing to love me.

Thank You for helping me be all that You created me to be.

Thank You Lord.

Two others also, who were criminals, were led away to be put to death with Him (Jesus). Luke 23:32

Lord how humiliating to have been lead away with two known criminals.

Thank You Lord for going through all of the humiliation for us.

Thank You for freedom because of all You went through.

Thank You for everlasting life.

Thank You for peace that passes all human understanding.

Thank You Lord.

But Jesus turning to them said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. For behold, the days are coming when they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never gave suck!’ Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us’; and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’ For if they do this when the wood is green what will happen when it is dry?” Luke 23:28 – 31

Lord you were not painting a very pretty picture for those that were following You.

Thank You Lord that when things are other than we would want You are there for us.

Thank You that You cared about these women and were trying to warn them.

Thank You for their love for You and their willingness to follow You.

Thank You for calling us to ‘come follow You.’

Thank You Lord.

And there followed Him (Jesus) a great multitude of the people, and of women who bewailed and lamented Him. Luke 23:27

Lord, You were the innocent victim. You had not done anything and Pilate admitted that and yet he was willing to sentence You because the scribes and chief priests hated You and wanted You killed. Now those that loved You were following You. Lord how this reminds us to pray for those that are in power over us.

Thank You Lord that all things are under Your control.

Thank You Lord for caring about each of us.

Thank You that You love us unconditionally.

Thank You that You suffered and died for us.

Thank You Lord.

And as they led Him (Jesus) away, they seized one Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, and laid on Him the cross, to carry it behind Jesus. Luke 23:26

Lord what a sad picture. A murder had been freed and You were to die on the cross in his place as a criminal. Everyone there knew You were innocent. You were paying the price for our sin.

Thank You Lord for the gift of Your life.

Thank You for loving us enough to carry out Your plan to die for our sin.

Thank You for eternal life for those of us that believe and trust in You.

Thank You that we are forgiven and free because of the price You paid.

Thank You Lord.

He (Pilate) released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, whom they asked for; but Jesus he delivered up to their will. Luke 23:25

Thank You Lord for following through on these events that certainly were not pleasant.

Thank You for taking all of this for us.

Thank You that we are free today because of Your sacrifices for us.

How we thank and praise You Lord for caring so much for each one of us as individuals.

Thank You Lord.

So Pilate gave sentence that their demand should be granted.
Luke 23:24

Lord how interesting. Here is Pilate a man that saw nothing wrong with You Lord and yet he was willing to go with what the people wanted and sentence You.

Lord, thank You for the price You paid for us.

Thank You for going through the humiliation in front of everyone.

Thank You that You knew their hearts and the evil within them.

Thank You for being our example and showing us how to live.

Oh to be like You Lord.

Thank You for helping us follow Your call.

Thank You Lord.

But they (chief priests and scribes) were urgent, demanding with loud cries that He should be crucified. And their voices prevailed. Luke 23:23

Lord it is so hard to go against the crowd. This crowd wanted You killed. What was Pilate to do.

Thank You Lord that You were in control and knew all things.

Thank You for being in control today and knowing all things today too.

Thank You that we can trust You with our lives.

Thank You for leading us closer to You.

Thank You for a peace that only You can give.

Thank You Lord.
