(The scene continues at the table. Jesus had said to Judas, “What you are going to do, do quickly.) Some thought that, because he (Judas) had the money box, Jesus was telling him, “Buy what we need for the feast”; or, that he should give something to the poor. So, after receiving the morsel, he immediately went out; and it was night.
John 13:29, 30
Lord it is often very difficult to see the deceptive ways of others. We read of it all the time in our newspapers. People believing in other people only to find they are taking the companies under because of their deception. We are so easily taken in because we only see their actions and not their motives or their hearts.
Thank You Lord that we can trust You.
Thank You for always wanting the very best for our lives.
Thank You for guiding us along the pathway of truth and light.
Oh how blessed we are Lord when we keep our trust in You.
Thank You for always being there for me Lord.
Thank You Lord.

Now no one at the table knew why He (Jesus) said this (“What you are going to do, do it quickly.”) to him. (Judas) John 13:28
Lord, Your life was a mystery to Your disciples. You kept telling them what was going to happen to You but they still did not understand. Our lives are a mystery too Lord. We each must live the mystery moment by moment.
Thank You Lord that You are with us as we walk each step of every day.
Thank You that we can trust You to guide and direct us.
Thank You for the peace that You give as we keep our eyes on you.
You are always with us. Thank You Lord.

Then after the morsel, (Jesus had given Judas) Satan entered into him (Judas). Jesus said to him, “What you are going to do, do quickly.” John 13:27
Lord what a tense moment this must have been for all the disciples. Judas knew he was the one that would be singled out but none of the others suspected it was him.
Thank You Lord for knowing all.
Thank You for giving us discernment.
Thank You for knowing what is in our hearts because often our actions don’t show our true feelings.
We are so blessed because of You and Your unconditional love.
Thank You Lord.

Jesus answered, “It is he (that will betray Me) to whom I shall give this morsel when I have dipped it.” So when He had dipped the morsel, He gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. John 13:26
Lord with all eyes on You it must have been a very tense time for Your disciples. Everyone was wondering who it was that would betray You. Judas….it was Judas…. How could that be ….they must have thought. He was one of us ….well we thought he was one of us. I wonder if they thought back to all the times they were with him. Were there signs they missed. Should they have known…. Who was this man they thought they knew so well.
Lord often that happens in our lives today too. There are those we thought we could trust and they have betrayed us or belittled us. Why … we thought they were our friend.
Thank You Lord that You are always there for us.
Thank You that we can count on You to love us unconditionally.
Thanks for helping us become more than we ever dreamed possible.
Gifts Lord from You and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

So lying thus, close to the breast of Jesus, he said to Him, “Lord, who is it?” (That would betray You) John 13:25
Lord, Simon Peter didn’t know who would betray You. And whoever this was that was lying close to You didn’t know either and had to ask You. Everyone was full of questions wondering who it was that was going to betray You. Who was with You all the time that was going to betray You. They could not figure out who it was.
Lord what is interesting about this story is You saw what Judas was like because You know all things and yet You loved him. You allowed him to continue being with You and Your other disciples.
Thank You Lord for always loving us when You know that we are not always pleasing You.
That is Your gift to us! That shows Your unconditional love. That is Your grace being showered upon us.
How can we ever thank You enough when we stand back and look at this total picture.
Thank You! Thank You Lord.

One of His (Jesus) disciples, whom Jesus loved, was lying close to the breast of Jesus; so Simon Peter beckoned to him and said; “Tell us who it is of whom He speaks?” (that would betray Him)
John 13:23, 24
Lord, it is very hard when there is a traitor among a tight knit group. That is what was happening with Your disciples. There was a traitor among them and Simon Peter wanted to know who it was. He asked the person that was closest to You because he thought surely he must know.
Thank You Lord for knowing ALL things.
Thank You for seeing our hearts and knowing all about us.
Thank You for asking us to come to You.
Thank You for always being there in the midst of our joy and our pain.
You are ALWAYS there! Thank You Lord.

The disciples looked at one another, uncertain of whom He (Jesus) spoke, (that would betray Jesus). John 13:22
Lord it is so hard to be betrayed. You knew who was going to betray You and told the disciples that one among them would betray you. They all wondered who it was. They had been a very tight knit group so this was shocking to them. Who could it possibly be?
Thank You Lord for ALWAYS listening to us.
Thank You that You don’t only listen You hear us.
Thank You for being there when we are betrayed.
Oh how blessed we are because of You.
Thank You Lord.

When Jesus had thus spoken He was troubled in spirit and testified, “Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” John 13:21
Thank You Lord that we can always count on You.
Thank You that You will never betray us.
Thank You for always being there for us when we are disappointed.
Oh how wonderful it is to have You Lord.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives any one whom I send receives me; and he who receives me receives Him who sent me.” John 13:20
Thank You Lord for coming to earth so we can live with You forever and ever.
Thank You for Your love ….Your unconditional love.
It’s Thanksgiving and we have much to be thankful for. Thank You for jobs, for food in abundance, for shelter all the necessities of life…..but most of all thank You for Your presence with us all the time. Oh how great to be loved by You.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “I tell you this now, before it takes place, that when it does that when it does take place you may believe that I am He.” John 13:19
Lord You kept trying to tell those listening who You were and why You came to earth. Some believed You and some were full of questions. You never gave up. You kept telling them.
Thank You Lord for not giving up on us when we turn and walk away from You.
Thank You for continuing to speak to us and call us to Yourself.
Oh how fortunate we are to have such great love.
Thank You Lord.
