Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to Him in Hebrew, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher). John 20:16
Lord what an exciting time this must have been for Mary. You spoke and she knew it was You. How happy she was to know that You were right there with her. No, Your body was not taken as she suspected. You were alive and standing beside her. How exciting.
Thank You Lord for the many ways You speak to each of us today.
Thank You for always being there with You gentle touch.
Thank You for Your promise to never leave or forsake us.
We are blessed Lord.
Thank You. Thank You Lord.

Jesus said to her, (Mary) “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom do you seek?” Supposing Him to be the gardener, she said to Him, “Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away.” John 20:15
Lord in reading this verse we can see how important You were to Mary. She was sure someone had stolen You body. When You spoke to her she thought You were the gardener. She certainly did not expect to see You. After all You were dead and had been wrapped in burial cloth as was the custom of that day.
Thanks Lord for staying on the earth so Mary and the others could see You before You ascended into heaven.
Thank You for John’s account of Your resurrection.
Thank You Lord.

Saying this, she (Mary) turned around and saw Jesus standing but she did not know that it was Jesus. John 20:14
Lord, some say Mary did not recognize You because she was crying so hard. Others say it was because she did not expect to see You. We really don’t know but one thing we do know was that once You were dead and now You were alive.
Oh how grateful we are today that You rose from the dead and are sitting at the right hand of the Father interceding for us.
Thank You Lord for allowing us to know all these things about Your earthly journey.
Thank You for Your unconditional love and power in our lives.
We are blessed.
Thank You! Thank You Lord.

(The two angels in Jesus tomb) “They said to her, (Mary) “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord and I do not know where they have laid Him.”
John 20:13
Lord this was a very difficult time for Your followers. They watched when You were hung on the cross. Now Your tomb is empty and the angels are in tomb.
Thank You for Mary, Lord, and the fact that she cared about You.
Thank You for giving us that same compassion.
Thank You for Your help when we are in difficult challenges.
Oh how blessed we are because of You Lord.
Humbly we say ‘thank You.’ Thank You Lord.

But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. John 20:11
Lord, Mary was weeping because she was sure someone had taken Your body. Then she looked in Your tomb and saw two angels. What a welcome sight that must have been. I wonder if she felt shocked to see them but comforted at the same time.
Thank You Lord for angels.
Thank You for their calming affect.
Thank You for using them to bring messages that could be brought no other way.
They are Your messengers Lord and we thank You for them.
Thank You Lord.

Then Simon Peter came, following him, (the other disciple) and went into the tomb; he saw the linen cloths lying, and the napkin, which had been on His (Jesus) head not lying with the linen cloths but rolled up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; for as yet they did not know the scripture, that He must rise from the dead. Then the disciples went back to their homes. John 20: 6 – 10
Oh the joy we experience today Lord because You rose.
Today we are free because of Your unconditional love for us.
Thank You Lord!.
Thank You.

Peter then came out with the other disciple and they went toward the tomb. They both ran but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first; and stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there but he did not go in. John 20:3 – 6
Lord this must have been a very frightening time for Your disciples. The stone on Your grave was rolled away and You were gone. What had happened? Had someone taken Your body? I can imagine the excitement.
Lord in my own life I can recall the many Easter Sundays that I sang, “Up from the Grave He Arose.” Easter has always been a time for rejoicing….reflecting….excitement….You arose. BUT these disciples didn’t know that at this point in the story. They had much to learn. And learn they did as the story unfolds.
Thank You Lord for this story as told by John.
Thank You for giving us that follow You everlasting life.
Oh what a gift.
Thank You Lord.

Now in the place where He (Jesus) was crucified there was a garden and in the garden a new tomb where no one had ever been laid. So because of the Jewish day of Preparation, as the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there. John 19:41, 42
Lord we are never sure what is going to happen in our lives. You hold the keys. It is our desire to know You better and better.
Thank You Lord for the desire You place within us to know You better and better.
Oh how blessed we are to have You for our guide.
Thank You Lord.

Nicodemus also, who had at first come to Him (Jesus) by night, came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds’ weight. They took the body of Jesus and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews. John 19:39, 40
Lord I remember the story about Nicodemus who came to You in the night because he was a prominent man and he did not want others to see him. Here he is now in this verse bringing spices to show his love for You. He didn’t bring just a little….scripture says he brought 100 pounds.
Thank You Lord for men like Nicodemus.
Thank You for those that show us love at a time when we need it most.
You gave Your all for us Lord and we thank and praise You.
Thank You Lord.

For these things took place that the scripture might be fulfilled. “Not a bone of Him shall be broken.” And again another scripture says, “They shall look on Him whom they have pierced.” John 19:36, 37
Thank You Lord for knowing all things.
Thank You for knowing what was going to happen and still continuing to go through it all for our redemption.
You came…You died….You rose again….You ascended.
Thank You Lord.
