Thomas answered Him, (Jesus) “My Lord and my God!” John 20:28
Lord there are those that have to see for themselves before they believe. Thomas was that kind of person. You asked him to examine Your hands and Your side. He did and believed. He knew it was You and that once You were dead but now You were alive.
Thank You Lord for allowing us to grow and change.
Thank You for our individuality.
Thank You for the way You work with each one of us.
We are blessed Lord …. You know us and You care.
Thank You Lord.

Then He (Jesus) said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see My hands; and put out your hand, and place it in My side; do not be faithless, but believing.” John 20:27
Thank You Lord for giving Thomas the opportunity to see that it was truly You. You made a difference in his life because he was able to see for himself that it was You.
Thank You for helping him believe.
Thank You for giving us faith so that we too can believe.
These are Your gifts to us and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

Eight days later, His (Jesus) disciples were again in the house and Thomas was with them. The doors were shut but Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” John 20:26
Lord these were very exciting times for Your disciples. They knew You were alive. Thomas was doubting and wanted proof and now You were there so he could get his answers.
Thank You Lord for the peace You brought Your disciples.
Thank You that Your peace is still available for us today.
Peace is a wonderful gift….. Your gift to us …. Peace … Your Peace….
Thank You Lord.

Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and place my finger in the mark of the nails, and place my hand in His side, I will not believe.” John 20:24, 25
Thomas has been called ‘Doubting Thomas.’ Even today we hear his name used when someone doesn’t want to believe in something that everyone else knows is true. The other disciples were excited because they had seen You. They wanted to share this excitement with their friend Thomas. What a damper he put on their enthusiasm because he didn’t believe them. He had to see for himself.
Thank You Lord for the gift of enthusiasm.
Thank You for the joy of excitement over good things that happen.
Emotions are a wonderful gift and can bring much joy into our lives.
Thank You for this wonderful gift.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” John 20:23
Lord after You breathed on Your disciples and said to them “Receive the Holy Spirit,” You told them the verse above. It sounds as if You gave them a special ability regarding sins. They were given the ability to forgive or not to forgive sins. I’m not sure what all of that meant and this is all we are told in John’s account. Perhaps we will learn more as we read on.
What I do know is that You left the Holy Spirit with us when You left this earth.
Thank You Lord for giving us Your Holy Spirit that helps us as we walk through this experience on earth.
Thank You for the power that is ours because of You.
Oh that we would keep our eyes fixed upon You and Your desires for our lives. It is then that we have peace and joy in our lives.
Thank You for Your unconditional love Lord. We are forgiven!
Thank You Lord.

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, even so I send you.” John 20:21
Oh Lord, how each one of us needs peace in our lives. Seems there are so many things today that pull and tug at us and rob us of our peace.
Thank You Lord for the gift of peace.
Thank You for the joy that You alone can give. It is a joy that lasts forever. It cannot be taken from us. We alone are the only one that can give it up. Once experienced Lord we want it all the time.
Thank You that with Your help that is possible.
Oh how blessed we are Lord to have You as our guide.
Thank You.
Thank You Lord.

When He (Jesus) had said this (“Peace be with you.”), He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. John 20:20
Lord what an exciting time this was for Your disciples. You were alive. They were with You and saw Your hands and Your side.
Thank You Lord for being with us today too. Oh, not in the flesh but You have promised that You will never leave us or forsake us. You are always with us.
Thank You Lord.

On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” John 20:19
Thank You Lord for Your peace.
Thank You for showing Your disciples what it was like to have Your peace.
How fortunate we are Lord that it is a gift that You want to give to each one of us.
Thank You. Thank You Lord.

Mary Magdalene went and said to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord” and she told them that He had said these things to her.
John 20:18
Lord I can imagine the excitement in Mary’s voice as she told them she had seen You and what You had said to her. You were alive! She saw You and was told to go and tell the others the good news. What an exciting time this was for those that had been following You.
Thank You Lord that today is still an exciting time for us that follow You.
Thank You that each day it is our choice to get to know You better and better.
Thank You for always being there ….waiting for us to come to You.
You never leave us or forget us. How blessed and thankful we are Lord.
Thank You Lord.

Jesus said to her, (Mary) “Do not hold Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father, but go to My brethren and say to them, I am ascending to My Father and your Father, to My God and your God.” John 20:17
Lord, how must Mary have felt with You standing there talking with her. You told her what was going to happen and asked her to go and tell the others. How special she must have felt as she ran to share Your good news.
Lord as My mind goes to this scene it causes excitement within. That is how I think Mary must have felt talking to You. It was a moment filled with emotion. Standing before her was the person she believed in….she was following…she loved.
Thank You Lord for our emotions.
Our emotions are Your gift to us like all good gifts that are from You …. Lord, oh how we thank You.
Thank You Lord.
