Thought For Today

(Jesus continued) “If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.” Matthew 5:29

Lord this certainly sounds extreme and yet is it really. Many a person that has strayed would gladly give their eye to have their peaceful life back. Oh how naïve we can be.

Thank You Lord for Your unconditional love.

Thank You for Your help when we mess up.

Thank You for never giving us on us but always waiting with open arms for us to return.

Oh how grateful we are and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Matthew 4:27, 28

Thank You Lord that You see our hearts and You know our motives.

Thank You for always wanting the very best for our lives.

Thank You for Your power and Your strength that helps us each day.

Oh how fortunate we are Lord to have You as Lord of our lives.

(Jesus continued) “Make friends quickly with your accuser, while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison; truly, I say to you, you will never get out till you have paid the last penny.” Matthew 5:25, 26

Lord, our ideal would be to never make an enemy. BUT there are those that no matter how hard we try they are not going to like us and are going to be against us. You say….’make friends’ wow that isn’t easy. Once again Lord You call us to trust in You and pray a lot.

Thank You Lord for Your guidance and wisdom. Oh how we need it Lord.

Thank You for Your strength and Your power.

Thank You for always being there when we cry out to You.

Oh how grateful we are Lord.

(Jesus continues) “So if you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23, 24

Peace….Lord you ask that we be at peace with our world when we come to talk with You. Not always easy to do. Thursday is Thanksgiving. We all have a lot to thank You for. And we do have grateful hearts. We praise and thank You for another year to love and be loved. Most of all we thank You for Your unconditional love.

And yet Lord there are those that will not enjoy their Thanksgiving because they are not ‘reconciled’ to members of their family. That certainly isn’t what You want and yet there are times there is no choice. It’s often very sad to watch what brings families back together. You never give up Lord. You are always at work on us to change our lives when we trust You. We are so blessed Lord. So very, very blessed.

Thank You! Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continues) “You have heard that it was said to the men of old, ‘You shall not kill; and whoever kills shall be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother shall be liable to the council and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be liable to the hell of fire. Matthew 4:21, 22

Lord thank You for Your patience and understand when we slip and fall. It seems to happen so easily with our friends and family members. We try so hard and yet we so often fall short. You see our motives and You see our desires.

Thank You for Your unconditional love.

Thank You for always being there to hear our cries for help.

Oh how blessed we are Lord because You love us and want the best for our lives.

Thank You Lord for coming to earth and paying the price for our sin.

Thank You for the assurance that we will spend all eternity with You.

Oh how great to know how much You love each one of us.

Thank You for giving us the desire to learn how to follow Your commandments.

Thank You for Your power that surges through us when we call out to You for help.

Thank You Lord that it didn’t matter what others thought of You while You were here – You fulfilled each and every promise.

Thank You for paying the price for our sins.

Thank You Lord that You were the one they were all waiting for.

Thank You for showing us over and over again how You fulfilled the prophecies.

Thank You for the many that believed You and followed You.

We too believe Lord and are looking to You for guidance and direction.

Thank You for Your unconditional love.

Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 4:14 – 16

Thank You Lord for allowing us to shine for You.

Thank You for teaching us that life is not all about ‘us’ …..but it is all about You.

Thank You for allowing us to be Your servants.

As the song goes that I have sung from childhood …. ‘This little light of mine. I’m gonna let it shine.’ Shine ….Yes Lord may it shine brighter and brighter until You come back for us.

Thank You Lord for the gift of being a light for You ….a light that shines brightly in a very dark world.
