Jesus continues) “Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
Matthew 4:11, 12

Lord, I must admit that I can’t and don’t rejoice in the circumstance that You talk about in this verse…..reviled, persecuted, evil, lies…. Oh yes I know my rewards are in heaven but I still can’t rejoice. I love You Lord but I still can’t rejoice.

Thank you Lord for giving us the assurance that heaven IS our home.

Thank You Lord.

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 4:10

Lord, we all hope and pray that we will not have to experience the persecution in the U.S. as they have in other countries.

Certainly all that have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake deserve the ‘kingdom of heaven.’

Thank You for Your protection over us Lord.

Thank You that we can trust You with our lives.

Thank You for always being with us through each moment of every day.

Oh how we need You! Thank You!

Thank YOU Lord.

(Jesus continues) “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.” Matthew 4:9

Lord how I appreciate the peacemakers. They are certainly a very special type of person. They can see situations in a whole different way and calm even the angriest person.

Thank You for Your calming peace and the gift You have given each peacemaker.

Thank You for the way they help so many with their calming ways.

Oh to be like them Lord. Full of Your joy and Your contentment.

How wonderful to know that You are perfecting each one of us and making us into Your image.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continues) “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Matthew 4:8

Thank You Lord for accepting us just as we are and working in our lives to help us become all You want us to be.

Thank You that although our hearts are never as ‘pure’ as they could be You love us with Your unconditional love anyway.

We are truly blessed Lord because we have the option of looking to You for our guidance and direction.

Thank You ! Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continues) “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.” Matthew 4:7

Lord so often I think about the verses that remind us that what you sow you will reap. That is what this scripture reminds me of. The interesting thing with sowing is that when the farmer plants corn he gets corn. Our rewards come back too but often not in the way we totally appreciate them or in the same manner we have sowed. You know so much more than we do Lord and You always give us the very best.

Thank You Lord for knowing all things about our lives.

Thank You for Your patience when we are not as grateful as we should be.

You know…You care…You give us the best.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continues) “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” Matthew 4:6

Lord, we are blessed because we do seek You and Your righteous.

Thank You that when we seek You we find You and are satisfied.

Thank You for the peace that You give.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” Matthew 4:5

Lord it is very interesting who You said would inherit the earth…..the meek. AND You even called them ‘blessed.’

You made us all Lord and we each have different temperaments. There is value in each one of them. You saw that value in the meek and called them ‘blessed.’

You love each one of us and oh how we love You.

Thank You for Your love …Your unconditional love that has no limit.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continues) “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 4:4

Thank You Lord for Your comfort.

There are times Lord when You are our only comfort and we thank You for always being with us.

We are blessed because You love us and that love is unconditional.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:3.

Thank You Lord that ‘ours’ is the kingdom of heaven.

Thank You for the opportunity to spend all eternity with you.

Thank You Lord.

He (Jesus) opened His mouth and taught them (disciples) saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:2, 3

Lord how blessed Your disciples were to sit at Your feet and learn. I too feel very blessed to sit at Your feet and learn.

Thank You Lord that You give each of us the gift of being able to sitting at Your feet to learn.

Thank You that even though we are hurt and disappointed we are still promised Your gift of eternal life.

Oh how much we have Lord because we have You.

Thank You Lord.
