(Jesus continued) “I tell you, many will come from east and west and sit at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness; there men will gnash their teeth.” Matthew 8:11, 12

Lord, we love You and want to serve You. Thank You for Your love and compassion. Thank You for listening when we cry out to You. You are always with us. Thank You for Your answers of comfort.

Thank You Lord.

When Jesus heard him, (centurion) He marveled, and said to those who followed Him, “Truly, I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.” Matthew 8:10

Lord, You tell us that if we have faith the size of a grain of mustard seed we could move mountains. I haven’t seen or heard of anyone that has claimed to have tried for a job and lost it.

Thank You Lord for Your presence. Thank You for being with us. Thank You for helping us through though things in life.

You are always with us and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

(Centurion continued) “For I am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do and he does it.”
Matthew 8:9

Lord, here was a man standing before You asking You to heal his servant that was at his home. In this verse he tells us about himself. He was a man with a lot of authority. And yet…in his humility and with great faith…he came to You asking You to heal his servant.

Thank You Lord that no matter who we are Your arms are open for us to come to You.

Thank You for Your unconditional love.

Oh how we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

But the centurion answered Him, (Jesus) “Lord, I am not worthy to have You come under my roof; but only say the word , and my servant will be healed.” Matthew 8:8

Thank You Lord for the humility and faith this centurion had.

He was a great example of what we so often feel. Who are we that You should care about us. You love us unconditionally. You lead, guide and direct our lives when we look to You. We are never alone. You are always with us.

Thank You for the gifts of humility and faith. We need both Lord. And we thank You for them.

Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) said to him, (centurion) “I will come and heal him. (servant)” Matthew 8:7

Lord, thank You for Your healing touch.

Thank You for Your willingness to go to the man to touch and heal him.

Thank You for being there for us when we go to You when we need Your healing touch.

You are ALWAYS there to hear and to comfort.

Thank You Lord.

And Jesus said to him (leper), “See that you say nothing to any one; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a proof to the people.” Matthew 8:4

Thank You Lord for Your healing touch.

Thank You that this leper was healed not only physically but emotionally.

Oh how wonderful Your healing touch is Lord and how grateful we all are for it. You have touched our souls and given us a new way to live and love. Oh how we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) stretched out His hand and touched him (leper), saying, “I will; be clean.” Matthew 8:3

Lord this leper bowed before You and asked to be healed. You touched him and healed him. He asked You and You healed him.

Thank You Lord for each answer You give us.

Thank You for hearing us when we cry out to You.

Thank You for always doing what will allow us to grow in Your love.

Thank You for each gift You provide!

Thank You Lord.

When He (Jesus) came down from the mountain, great crowds followed Him; and behold, a leper came to Him and knelt before Him, saying, “Lord, if you will, You can make me clean.” Matthew 8:1, 2

Faith! Hope! Lord this man with leprosy had both hope and faith. He knew You could heal him and he wanted that healing. You were his only hope because until recently there was no cure for leprosy. A leper had to cry out ‘unclean’ when around others. They were exiled to an island or colony outside the city so others could not be around them. I visited a colony on an island near Hong Kong. It was a very sad life changing experience. There were those with many missing parts of their bodies that were eaten away from the disease. I understand the desperation of this man. You were his ONLY hope Lord.

Thank You Lord for being our only hope today. Oh we may not have body parts missing from leprosy but our souls have a hunger and thirst that only You can fill.

Thank You for cleansing us from the things that would eat away at our life and keep us from You.

Thank You for Your peace and joy that is ours when we serve You.

Like the leper we are free because of You.

Thank You Lord.

And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes. Matthew 7:28, 29

Lord, as I sit at Your feet to hear what You want to teach me through each verse I too am astonished.

Thank You for the gift given to each of us when You call us to ‘come follow You.’

Thank You that our lives are changed moment by moment as we listen to Your words of wisdom.

Thank You that we are never alone….we KNOW that You are always with us.

Blessings Lord…Blessings from You.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “And every one who hears these words of Mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sands; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:26, 27

Lord, thank You for always pointing us to the way to follow You.

Thank You that we have You as our rock and when we build our life upon You we are strong.

Thank You for Your wisdom and knowledge that helps us follow You.

Your word is here for us to read and grow to become more and more like You.

Oh how we thank You for Your light that shows us the way.

Thank You! Thank You Lord.
