And He (Jesus) said to them, “Why are you afraid, O men of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. Matthew 8:26
Lord because Your disciples were afraid You called them – “Men of little faith.”
It appears to me that they had great faith. Faith in You Lord. They believed You could calm the storm and You did. They knew they were safe with You. And they were!!! BUT they had to wake You and hear Your words to truly believe.
Lord we are safe with You. We trust You. We have faith to believe.
Thank You! Thank You Lord

And they (Jesus disciples) went and woke Him, (Jesus) saying, “Save, Lord; we are perishing.” Matthew 8:25
Lord, Your disciples were afraid because there was a terrible storm. They were afraid the boat would sink and they ran to You. They knew You could help. They knew You were their answer.
Thank You Lord for those of us that know You are our answer too.
Thank You for giving us the faith and confidence to know that You will be there for us.
These disciples of long ago had faith to believe. We today have faith to believe. Thank You for the comfort You bring in knowing You will ALWAYS hear us.
Thank You Lord.

And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but He (Jesus) was asleep. Matthew 8:24
Thank You Lord for a good nights sleep.
You were in a boat on the sea with Your disciples and a storm came up that was very scary. You were asleep. There is something wonderful about sleeping. It refreshes our bodies. It clears our minds. It gives us strength.
Thank You Lord for sleep. It is so easy to take it for granted like so many routine things in life. We want to thank You for everything You have given us. So we thank You for sleep and a good nights rest.
Thank You Lord.

And when He (Jesus) got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. Matthew 8:23
Thank You Lord for giving all of us the invitation to ‘come follow You’.
Oh we are not with You in the physical but we are certainly with You spiritually.
Thank You that the more we allow Your words to sink deep into our hearts the closer we become to You.
Thank You that it is by knowing You that we can follow You more closely.
Oh to be like You Lord and to experience the joy in serving You.
Thank You for giving us the opportunity to know You better and better. It is our choice. You are always there waiting for us to turn to You.
Thank You Lord.

Another of the disciples said to Him, (Jesus) “Lord let me first go and bury my father.” But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.” Matthew 8:21, 22
Lord, without knowing the history this sounds as if You were not being very compassionate. Certainly the dead couldn’t bury the dead. So you were speaking here of the dead spiritually. Also from what research tells us this disciple’s father was not dead but elderly and therefore it could be a long time before he died.
You were here to bring life to those You would speak with. You obviously wanted this disciple to be with You and experience Your presence.
Lord there are many times in our lives we don’t see what You see or understand what You know. It is those times that we – like this disciple – must stay the course and continue to follow You.
Thank You Lord for knowing all things and guiding us each step of our life. We are truly grateful that You are ALWAYS there to show us Your way.
Thank You Lord.

And a scribe came up and said to Him, (Jesus) “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.” And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay His head.” Matthew 8:19, 20
Thank You Lord for our homes and a place to ‘lay our heads.’ We are blessed. Oh they may not be all that we desire because we are often so greedy. But…… thank You they are exactly what we need at this moment.
Thank You for teaching us to live for this moment. Oh not that we should throw the future to the wind but we can learn to enjoy the moment knowing it is the only time we will ever have that moment again.
We have been given so much. Thank you.
Thank You Lord.

Now when Jesus saw great crowds around Him, He gave orders to go over to the other side. Matthew 8:18
Lord You are the Son of God so You always knew the right thing to do. You were doing the will of Your Father and that was why You were here. You knew exactly what to do. You knew the hearts of those around You and what they needed to bring them closer to You and the truth.
We too need Your discernment. We thank You that You tell us to ask for it and You will be given it.
Thank You that as we practice listening to You we are never disappointed.
Oh how we need You Lord and Oh how we thank You for being there.
Thank You Lord.

That evening they brought to Him (Jesus) many who were possessed with demons; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah. “He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.” Matthew 8:16, 17
Lord, thank You for caring about each one of us personally.
Thank You for guiding and directing our lives.
We need You Lord and we want You.
Thank You for always being with us.
Thank You Lord.

And when Jesus entered Peter’s house, He saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever: He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and served Him. Matthew 8:14, 15
Thank You Lord for Your healing touch.
Thank You that when You touch us we are healed. Lord we are healed at times physically and then there are those emotional healings. We need both.
Thank You for meeting each of our needs when we ask You. Oh how blessed we are Lord.
Thank You Lord.

And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; be it done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment. Matthew 8:13
Thank You Lord for Your healing touch.
Thank You for Your compassion.
Lord there is so much about this life that we don’t understand. There is so much that we can honestly say we don’t like. But we do know that You are Lord and all things are in Your contol. We know that You know best. Like the centurian we must have faith. Faith to believe.
Thank You Lord for giving us more and more faith as we trust You.
Thank You Lord.
