(Jesus continued) “For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—He then said to the paralytic—“Rise, take up your bed and go home.” And he rose and went home. Matthew 9:5 – 7
Wow Lord what must the people witnessing this have thought as they watched this man pick up his bed and go home. What an exciting time.
Thank You Lord for those many times that You have said to us be healed. Healed of the hurts. Healed of the pain of broken relationships. Healed of physical conditions. Healed of blinded eyes that are given new understanding that changed the total outlook on a situation. You are always with us Lord and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming.” But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts?” Matthew 9:3, 4
Lord just as You knew the thoughts of these scribes You know our thoughts.
Thank You that You know what we are thinking and why we are thinking it.
Thank You for understanding our motives and our desires.
Thank You for showing us a better way than we could ever imagine.
You are awesome Lord and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

And behold, they brought to Him (Jesus) a paralytic, lying on his bed; and when Jesus saw their faith He said to the paralytic, “Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven.” Matthew 9:2
Thank You Lord for Your healing touch.
Your healing here was a physical healing and there are so many more. Thank You for Your emotional healing.
Thank You for healing our hearts when we are hurting over a disappointment or a loved one leaving this earth.
Thank You Lord for ALWAYS being there to comfort and cheer and it is often in such an unusual way.
We are so blessed Lord and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

And getting into a boat He (Jesus) crossed over and came to His own city. Matthew 9:1
Lord You had to leave the town where the demoniacs were cast into the swine. The people there wanted nothing to do with You. Here we see Your example of what it is like to not be wanted. What You did was ….You left there and went to Your own city. What else could You do when not wanted. You left.
Lord thank You for showing us that at times when others don’t want us it is better to just leave.
Thank You for showing us that we don’t have to try and figure out why they don’t want us; we can just leave.
Go … get away …. That was Your example. Go to those that love you and want you.
Thank You for Your example Lord. Help us remember it.
Thank You for Your wisdom and help.
Thank You Lord.

The herdsmen (for the swine) fled, and going into the city they told everything, and what had happened to the demoniacs. And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw Him, they begged Him to leave their neighborhood. Matthew 8:33, 34
Fear…. Lord these people were afraid of what You would do next. These herdsmen lost their whole herd of swine because they went into the sea and drowned. What else would You do. These people wanted no part of You.
Lord it is interesting how we look at things that happen. I would have thought these people would have been amazed at what had happened and know that You were indeed the Christ the Son of God. Instead the opposite happened. They rejected You and wanted no part of You.
Thank You Lord that we see and know You for who You truly are.
Thank You for opening our eyes of understanding.
Oh how we praise and thank You Lord for the gift of Your unconditional love.
You love us Lord and we love You.
Thank You.
Thank You Lord.

Now a herd of many swine was feeding at some distance from them (the demoniacs). And the demons begged Him, (Jesus) “If You cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine.” And He said to them, “Go.” So they came out and went into the swine; and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the waters. Matthew 8:30-32
Lord, what a story. I have told it so many times to the children in Sunday School and in Good New Clubs. The kids loved hearing it. It showed the power of You Lord to them at a young age. What an event it was. The demons recognized who You were and knew You could send them back to where they were from. They didn’t want to go back and begged to be cast into the swine. The swine went into the sea and drowned. What a sight that must have been for those watching.
Thank You Lord for showing those long ago Your great power and wisdom.
Thank You for being the same Lord today.
Thank You for Your wisdom and power in every situation today.
Thank You that there is nothing too hard for you.
We are blessed.
Thank You Lord.

And behold, they (demoniacs) cried out “What have You (Jesus) to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time.” Matthew 8:29
Lord, others around You were struggling to know who You were. Here were these demoniacs and they knew exactly who You were. They were afraid of what You might do to them. They questioned You.
Thank You Lord that there is nothing that surprises You.
Thank You for showing us what You did when You saw these demoniacs calling out to You.
Thank You for always being our example.
Thank You Lord.

And when He (Jesus) came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demoniacs met Him, coming out of the tomb, so fierce that no one could pass that way. Matthew 8:28
Lord as we read on we will learn more about Your encounter with these two demoniacs. While on earth You were in control. Today from heaven You are still in control.
Thank You Lord for the confidence we can have in You because we know that You are in control of everything.
Thank You that we can trust You.
Oh how fortunate we are because of You Lord.
Thank You Lord.

And the men (disciples) marveled, saying, “What sort of man (Jesus) is this, that even winds and sea obey Him. Matthew 8:27
Lord Your disciples had seen You do a lot of things. But it seems this calming of the sea really made them talk among themselves and ponder who You truly were.
Thank You Lord that we have seen the whole picture and know the whole story.
Thank You that we know who You truly are. Your disciples were trying to figure it all out but we have seen Your earthly life unfold and know who You are.
How fortunate we are Lord to be born in this timeframe.
Thank You Lord.

Then He (Jesus) rose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. Matthew 8:26.
Lord the sea was raging. The disciples thought they would die. You were sleeping and they woke You up. They were surprised that you could remain asleep with all the tossing of the boat because of the storm. You spoke and the sea was calm. What excitement there must have been among these disciples.
Thank You Lord for calming our storms in our lives. You are always there! Oh how we need You.
Thank You Lord.
