Another of the disciples said to Him, (Jesus) “Lord let me first go and bury my father.” But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.” Matthew 8:21, 22
Lord, without knowing the history this sounds as if You were not being very compassionate. Certainly the dead couldn’t bury the dead. So you were speaking here of the dead spiritually. Also from what research tells us this disciple’s father was not dead but elderly and therefore it could be a long time before he died.
You were here to bring life to those You would speak with. You obviously wanted this disciple to be with You and experience Your presence.
Lord there are many times in our lives we don’t see what You see or understand what You know. It is those times that we – like this disciple – must stay the course and continue to follow You.
Thank You Lord for knowing all things and guiding us each step of our life. We are truly grateful that You are ALWAYS there to show us Your way.
Thank You Lord.
