(Jesus said to them, (chief priest and scribes) “I will ask you a question; answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. Was the baptism of John from heaven or from men? Answer me.” Mark 11:29, 30 And they argued with one another, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’ But shall we say, ‘From men’?” –they were afraid of the people, for all held that John was a real prophet. Mark 11:31, 32) So they answered Jesus, “We do not know.” And Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.” Mark 11:33
Lord You knew just the right answer. They were trying so hard to trap You and instead You knew just what to say back.
So often Lord we don’t know what to say either but You know. You show us the way. You are there with Your words of wisdom and we thank You.
Thank You Lord. Thank You.

Lord this is so interesting to see what has happened when You asked the question back rather than giving them Your answer.
We cannot tell what another person is thinking when they ask a question but You could.
Our gift from You is to depend on You to help us in all situation in our lives. You are always there to guide and direct in our lives each moment of every day. We are not along ….we have You and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

Lord You knew just the right thing to say to them. You asked them a questions. They were always questioning You hoping they would find fault with You. Now you were asking them to answer because You knew they would trip themselves up.
Thank You Lord for wisdom. It is a great gift. Knowing when to say something and when to stay quiet. Your gift to us and I thank You.
Thank You Lord.

And they (Jesus and His disciples) came again to Jerusalem. And as He was walking in the temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders came to Him, and they said to Him, “By what authority are you doing these things, or who gave You this authority to do them.”” Mark 11:27, 28
Lord what must it have been like for You to know that they were always trying to find something wrong with what You were doing. Over and over we read that the scribes and elders were watching You and questioning You. They were trying to find something wrong with You so they could destroy You.
Thank You Lord for knowing what we need when we cry out to You for help.
You are there even when we don’t feel You are there. You never leave us. Oh how we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” Mark 11:25, 26
Lord You taught us how to forgive and yet it is so hard for us. On the cross You forgave those that crucified You. ‘Father forgive them for they know not what they do.’ Wow! You were there dying. What better lesson could we have and yet we still struggle.
Thank You Lord that in our weakness and our shortcomings You love us and forgive us. Oh how blessed we are to have You forgive us which calls us on to become more and more like You ….and to forgive ….
What a gift we have been given – because of Your forgiveness we will spend all eternity with You. Oh how we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

As they (Jesus and His disciples) passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away to its roots. And Peter remembered and said to Him, (Jesus) “Master, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered.” And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.” Matthew 11:20 – 23
Thank You Lord for Your teaching. You tell us ALL things are possible if we believe. Oh how we want to believe and yet our faith is not what it should be.
Thank You for Your patience with us Lord.
Thank You for your help.
Thank You for never giving up on us as we continue to look to You.
Oh how blessed we are. Thank You.
Thank You Lord.

And when evening came they (Jesus and His disciples) went out of the city. Mark 11:19
Lord You chose to leave because the scribes and chief priests were not happy about Your popularity with the people. They were looking for a way to destroy You.
Thank You Lord for knowing how it feels when we are having a difficult time when doing the right thing.
Thank You for showing us that at times it is better to walk away. There was nothing You could say to convince these scribes and chief priests – the best thing to do was to get away from them.
Thank You Lord that You are always with us. Oh how we need You and thank You that we can always cry out to You. Thank You for hearing and understanding.
Thank You Lord. Thank You.

And the chief priests and the scribes heard it (Jesus in the temple) and sought a way to destroy Him; for they feared Him, because all the multitude was astonished at His teaching. Mark 11:18
Lord it was all about Your popularity with the multitudes that the chief priests and scribes could not handle. They were afraid of You because everyone was following You. They were losing control.
Thank You Lord for those that remained faithful to You. Thank You for the disciple that loved You. Thank You for the encouragement we receive when we study Your words and life via the Bible. We have so much to learn from You Lord and we thank You that You are still teaching us.
Thank You Lord. Thank You.

And He (Jesus) taught, and said to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations.?’ But you have made it a den of robbers.” Mark 11:17
Lord thank You for our churches. Thank You for the opportunity to gather together to worship You and pray. Thank You for the joy there is among those of like faith. Thank You for the way it builds us up when we hear how You have worked in others lives. You give us peace. You give us contentment. You give us love to share with others unconditionally.
