But Jesus said, “Let her alone; why do you trouble her? She has done a beautiful thing to Me. For you always have the poor with you and whenever you will you can do good to them; but you will not always have Me. She has done what she could she has anointed my body beforehand for burying. And truly I say to you, wherever the gospel is preached in the whole world, what she has done will be told in memory of her.” Mark 14:6 – 9

Lord we don’t even know this woman’s name but we sure know her story.

It is a beautiful story because it shows the world her love for You. But even more than that Lord, Your answer to these that chided her for giving her money was even more meaningful…..You told those listening that she had done a beautiful thing. You acknowledged her love for You and her expensive gift. You told her it was a good thing. You validated what she had done for You.

Thank You Lord for teaching us to appreciate what others give us. Some give us love, some give us attentions, some give us peace just by being around them and some give us a smile….Lord thank You for each gift and each giver.

Oh how fortunate we are Lord . There are so many gifts from You and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

But there were some who said to themselves indignantly, “Why was the ointment thus wasted? For the ointment might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor. And they reproached her. Mark 14:4, 5

Lord there are all too often those in life that no matter what you do or how you spend money they can always think of a better or different way. Certainly she could have given it to the poor. She could have also spent it on herself. There were a lot of things she could have done with it but she chose what she did because in her heart she knew it was the right thing to do. She loved You.

Thank You Lord for helping us listen to that still small voice within for guidance.

Thank You too Lord that when we hear Your voice You give us the ability and strength to obey what we hear.

Often Lord it isn’t easy to obey but You give us the strength and power moment by moment and day by day.

Oh how we thank You for the wisdom we have because of You. Thank You!

Thank You Lord.

And while He (Jesus) was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as He sat at table, a woman came with an alabaster jar of ointment of pure nard, very costly, and she broke the jar and poured it over His head. Mark 14:3

Love …..such love for You Lord. This woman came with a very expensive gift of ointment for You. As was the custom – she poured it over Your head.

Lord she loved You and wanted to thank You. I wonder what her story was….how had her life been changed. Why did she want to give back to You.

What a great example she is Lord. Her love shined through for all those around her to see.

Thank You Lord for allowing our light to shine for You.

Oh how we love You too Lord and thank You.

Thank You Lord.

It was now two days before the Passover and the feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to arrest Him (Jesus) by stealth, and kill Him for they said, “Not during the feast, lest there be a tumult of the people.” Mark 13:1, 2

Lord, more and more people were gathering to listen to You. The crowds were growing and the chief priests and scribes were becoming more and more anxious to kill You. The biggest issue they had was the people that were following You and believing in You.

Lord it is so hard to see good people destroyed by evil. You were good and they wanted to kill You. And it was for a self-serving reason. They were losing their control over the masses.

Thank You Lord for coming to earth to teach us a different way of thinking and living.

Thank You for changing us from the inside out. Oh how we need Your power in our lives to make us different. That power is ours for the asking and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Take heed, watch, for you do not know when the time will come. (Jesus to come back.) It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to be on the watch. Watch therefore—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or in the morning=–lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. And what I say to you I say to all: Watch.” Mark 13:33 – 37

Lord I’m afraid it wasn’t just those that were listening to You that were lax in watching it happens to me too. It is so easy to enjoy life that we get complacent. Then we are snapped back when life gets tough and we think…..’Oh, maybe the Lord will come back today ….wouldn’t that be wonderful.’

Oh how we need Your unconditional love Lord because we certainly are not perfect. Thank You for ALWAYS being there to lift us up when we stumble and fall. We love You Lord and thank You.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “But of that day or that hour (when You come back) no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Mark 13:32

Thank You Lord for repeating this again so we take heed.

Thank You for the promise that You will be with us while we wait.

Your scripture tells us that You will never leave us and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” Mark 13:31

Lord I want to think on this verse a moment longer. There is more to think about and rejoice over.

First I want to thank You Lord for Your many promises.

Lord we know You WILL come again and what a gift to us to hold on to that fact.

No we don’t know when that will be but we are ready and waiting and excited as we wait.

Thank You for being with us each moment of every day.

Thank You for Your unconditional love.

We have it all because we have You Lord.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away before all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” Mark 13:30, 31

Lord there is so little we can believe today but we sure can believe You and what You tell us.

Thank You for ‘truth’ Lord and those that we can trust to tell us the truth.

Thank You for those in our lives that are always looking out for our best interest. They are a true gift Lord and I thank You.

Thank You Lord.

“From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also when you see these things taking place, you know that He is near, at the very gates.” Mark 13:28, 29

Lord it is so easy to get busy just living that we forget. You were reminding those that were with You not to forget. You remind us not to forget too. We have Your written words in the Bible that remind us.

We wait…we watch…. We Believe!

Thank You!

Thank You Lord.

“But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And then he will send out the angels, and gather His elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.” Mark 13:24 – 27

Lord we all know You are coming back and we also know that we do not know when that will be.

We wait patiently …..Watching… Waiting….Praying…Listening….. We know You WILL come and we wait and watch.

Thank You for the confidence You give us that know and love You.

Thank You for the joy in our hearts as we await Your return.

Oh how blessed we are to have a living Savior that love us and takes care of us.

Thank You!

Thank You Lord.
