“Truly, I say to you, I shall not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.” Mark 14:25

Lord, I wonder what your disciples thought when You said this to them. Did they understand? You had been telling them that You would go but did they truly believe it.

Lord we are here ‘after the fact’ and still there are many that have questions.

Thank You Lord for the peace that only You can provide when we put our trust in You. Oh how we love You. Oh how we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And He took a cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to them and they all drank of it. And He said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.” Mark 14:23, 24

And Lord we do remember. We remember all You gave that we might have eternal life. We rejoice in the FACT that we will someday live with You forever and ever. What great hope. What great joy.

Thank You…. Thank You Lord.

And as they (Jesus 12 disciples) were eating, He (Jesus) took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.” Mark 14:22

Lord what a wonderful way to remember You. And we do eat and we do remember.

Thank You for giving us these symbols to help us think about the gift You gave us when You died on the cross.

Because of You Lord we have eternal life and we thank and praise You.

Thank You…. Thank You Lord.

“For the Son of man goes as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born.” Mark 14:21

Lord, Judas was listening. He knew he was that man and yet we know he was in so deep to his commitment that he continued with it. What a scary thought for him to ponder.

Thank You Lord for knowing all about us. You knew what Judas would do and You told all 12 of Your disciples.

Thank You Lord for knowing our motives and our desires and still You love us unconditionally. Oh how we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

He said to them, “it is one of the twelve, one who is dipping bread in the same dish with Me.” Mark 14:20

Lord I can image all eyes were upon You waiting to hear what You would say. All You said was that it was one of the twelve. Judas knew who it was and yet he said nothing.

What was Judas thinking knowing that he had been singled out. We know in the end it did not change him he went through with the plan.

What happened to Judas Lord. He left all to follow You and yet in the end he could not remain faithful. Money meant more to Him than You did.

Lord our prayer is for You to keep us faithful to the end.

Thank You for giving us the knowledge and faith to believe. Oh how we love You. You are always with us Lord and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

They began to be sorrowful and to say to Him one after another, “Is it I.” Mark 14:19

Lord Your disciples loved You and could not believe what they were hearing. It seems it scared them. Each of them had to ask if it was them. This would have been the perfect opportunity for Judas to speak up but he didn’t say a word.

Thank You Lord for courage. The disciples had the courage to ask if it was them.

Thank You for asking us to come to You with our request. If we lack courage we can ask You for it. Oh how we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And when it was evening He (Jesus) came with the twelve. And as they were at table eating, Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me, one who is eating with me.” Mark 14:17, 18

Lord I can imagine the shock of the 11 that knew they were not the one he was talking about. In that situation I would have thought to myself though ……am I really strong enough when the going gets rough not to deny You Lord…… I wonder that today too and pray I will be. The preservation of life often kicks in and we will do what it takes to survive. Perhaps Lord that is what happened to Judas. He didn’t have enough faith to believe You could and would meet his every need. Perhaps he had more desires than he had needs so wanted the money.

Thank You Lord that we can trust You with our lives.

Thank You for the peace that You alone can give when we trust You.

These are Your gifts to us and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) sent two of His disciples, and said to them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you; follow him, and wherever he enters, say to the householder, ‘The Teacher says, Where is my guest room, where I am to eat the Passover with my disciples? And he will show you a large upper room furnished and ready; there prepare for us.” And the disciples set out and went to the city, and found it as He had told them; and they prepared the Passover. Mark 14:13 – 16

Lord I wonder what it would have been like to have been one of your disciples that day. You told them what to do and without hesitation off they went. I wonder if they were saying to one another as I would have been ….’Wonder who we are going to find….first we have to find the man carrying a jar…..hmmmm I wonder where he will be and who it will be.

They believed! They didn’t questions….they just headed off to do as You had said. This adventure was nothing new for them. Everything You had said to them had always come true. They were sure this would too.

Thank You Lord for faith that trusts and believes. Thank You for the courage to step out …..yes, even step out when the we don’t want to. Thank You for the faith to believe that You will cause all things to work together for our good.

Oh how we thank You. You are always with us to help us and guide us.

Thank You Lord. Thank You.

And on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, His (Jesus) disciples said to Him, “Where will you have us go and prepare for You to eat the Passover?” Mark 14:12

Thank You Lord for Your disciples that love and cared for You.

We do know however there was one that would betray You and had already gone to the chief priest.

You had 12 disciples …..11 loved You…. One loved himself more than he loved You even though he had seen the wonderful miracles You had done.

Perhaps Lord the one that didn’t love You makes us much more grateful for the 11 that did love You. Perhaps in our own lives Lord You are calling us to appreciate even more than we already do those that truly love us.

Most of all Lord we rejoice in the fact that You love us unconditionally. Even if no one on earth loved us You do and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went to the chief priests in order to betray Him (Jesus) to them. And when they heard it they were glad and promised to give him money. And he sought an opportunity to betray Him. Mark 14:10, 11

Lord how sad that these chief priests were ‘glad’ that someone would be willing to betray You. Especially when it was someone that had been with You and had seen all the good You had done. Nothing mattered to Judas but the all mighty dollar – in our terms today. He wanted the money so he was willing to do what it took to get it.

How true that is of so many today. They give their lives for the almighty dollar only to find out that money doesn’t buy happiness. Oh it can for a while perhaps but then it loses its glitter.

Thank You Lord for coming to bring us a lasting happiness….a lasting joy….a lasting peace within. A peace that never leaves us. Oh how we thank You.

Thank You Lord.
