And going a little farther, He fell on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him. Mark 14:35

Lord there are very few of us that haven’t felt that way in our lifetime. Fear and sadness can be devastating emotions. There are things in our lives that we don’t want to go through.

These verses show us that You endured the same feelings. When we cry out to You for help and strength You understand.

You prayed….. We pray ……. Thank You Lord for the peace that prayer can bring. Thank You for always listening. We need You Lord and we thank You that You are there.

Thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And He said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch.” Mark 14:34

Lord thank You for showing us that to be sorrowful is human and okay. Often I think I am not trusting You enough when waves of emotion come over me. Thank You for helping me see Your sorrow and Your distress when You knew what You were going to face.

Also Lord I am so grateful that You ask us to ‘bear one another’s burdens.’ Sometimes our loads are too heavy to carry alone and we need others to help us. You asked Your 12 disciples to come with You. It is a true gift to have family and friends help us when the going gets rough and is too much for us to carry alone. Thank You for each person in my life. I need each one Lord and I thank You for every one of them.

I am blessed Lord not only because I have You as Lord of my life but because there are others that are always there for me.

Oh how I thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And He took with Him Peter, and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed and troubled. Mark 14:32

Lord ….Why only these three. How must the others have felt that were asked to stay behind. Being as curious as I am I would have wondered why You didn’t take me too. After all I loved You as much as those three did.

Lord I so often see how my humanness slips in when I read and react. There are certainly more things to work through in my life.

Thank You for Your beautiful way of sifting the dross out of our lives. You are oh so gentle and loving when You call us to change and become more and more like You.

Thank You for teaching us to be humble and compassionate when we see shortcomings in others as we see them in ourselves too.

Oh how You love us. Oh how we feel that love when You love so unconditionally. Thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And they (Jesus and Disciples) went to a place which was called Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, “Sit here, while I pray.” Mark 14:32

Lord while You were on earth You prayed. You have asked us to pray without ceasing. Prayer is such an awesome gift. I love sitting at Your feet listening for Your thoughts and typing.

Thank You for not picking out Your favorites but You have opened Your arms and ask ALL of us to come freely to talk with You and listen to that still small voice within. And You are ALWAYS there …..waiting and listening.

What a privilege!!!! What a gift!!!!! Thank You.

Thank You Lord.

But he said vehemently, “If I must die with You, I will not deny You.” And they all said the same. Mark 14 31

Lord…. Peter certainly shows us his sincere heart. He was sure he could never deny You. He believed it with his whole heart. He was Your follower. He believed in You.

Lord it is so sad when we do something that we regret later and who of us has not been guilty of doing that.

Thank You Lord for loving us enough to help us through times like that.

Thank You for helping us forgive ourselves because many of us are harder on ourselves and have a hard time forgiving our actions. The tapes keep playing and playing and they won’t turn off.

That’s where You come in Lord because You remind us that You love us and we are Yours. Nothing takes us away from Your love and compassion. You still loved Peter even though he denied You and You will still love us in spite of our failures.

Oh how we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And Jesus said to him, “Truly, I say to you, this very night, before the cock crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” Mark 14:30

Lord You see our hearts and You know our motives.

Sometimes Lord we do and say things and we wonder where those thoughts and actions come from. We are appalled at our own actions. Perhaps Lord that was what happened to Peter. We know he loved You but his life was at stake. He took the easy way out and denied You.

The good news is …. You love us unconditionally and forgive. You stand waiting with open arms and a loving heart. Oh how we need that Lord. We are so fragile. Thank You for Your love that knows no limits when we come to You with repentant hearts. How can we ever stop thanking You or feeling loved. Oh how we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

Peter said to Him, “Even though they all fall away, I will not.” Mark 14:29

Lord as we read on we are going to hear the rest of the story about Peter.

We all would hope and pray that we would not deny You but the will to survive without being in pain is so strong we wonder….. could we have the strength to hold on.

We thank You Lord for the freedom we have today. And we thank You for not being put to the test. Our strength is in You Lord as we keep our eyes and heart focused on You.

Thank You for Your love and Your help. Oh how we need it Lord. Thank You for being our rock.

Thank You Lord.

“But after I am raised up, I will go before you to Galilee.” Mark 14:28

Lord thank You for telling Your disciples they would see You again after You were alive again.

That certainly must have made them feel a whole lot better. It sure would have made me feel better to know that death was not permanent for You.

Thank You Lord for the peace that only You can give and we see it in this writing.

You gave Your disciples peace because they knew they would see You again.

We too have peace knowing we will see our loved ones again Lord and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away; for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered.’” Mark 14:27

Lord these were men that loved You. What must they have thought when You said this to them.

Thank You Lord that even though You know all things You still love us unconditionally.

Thank You for being there to pick us up when we slip and fall.

Thank You for picking us up and placing us on even ground once again.

Thank You…..

Thank You Lord.

And when they (Jesus and His disciples) had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. Mark 14:26

Lord I had never thought of this before but there were 13 of you singing a hymn. You and Your twelve disciples. I wonder what hymn you sang.

I’m glad that we have kept with that tradition. There is something wonderful about singing. It can be a great mood elevator when we sing praises to You.

It is a wonderful gift You have given us and I thank You.

Thank You Lord.
