And a young man followed Him, with nothing but a linen cloth about his body; and they seized him, but he left the linen cloth and ran away naked. Mark 14:51, 52
Lord, this seems a strange event to take place and be recorded by Mark. Perhaps the man had come for healing. We aren’t told any more about him than these two verses.
Thank You for the gift of healing and the many You healed while You were on this earth.
Thank You for allowing us to come bolding with our requests.
Thank You for hearing us and sending Your comfort and healing.
We are loved and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

And Jesus said to them, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me? Day after day I was with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me. But let the scriptures be fulfilled.” And they all forsook Him and fled. Mark 14: 48 – 50
Lord, first I have to clarify that it was not the chief priest that had his ear cut off but the slave of the chief priest.
This still must have been quite a picture with everyone coming at You with swords and clubs to capture You.
They had after all been listening to You and what You had to say and yet here they were to capture You with swords and clubs.
Lord it is because we know You as our Lord and Savior that we don’t question who You are. There is that transformation that happens within that brings us Your peace and Your presence that causes us to know. What a gift that is. It is greater than our own human understanding. Oh how I thank You.
Thank You Lord.

But one of those who stood by drew his sword, and struck the slave of high priest and cut off his ear. Mark 14:47
Lord what a scene. They seize You and the slave of the high priest has his ear cut off by Your disciple. AND You had gone there to pray.
Lord so often this is how our lives go too. We are thinking of You and praying and ‘things’ happen. The stuff of our everyday lives. Stuff that we sure would rather do without. BUT there it is for us to deal with.
And what is Your example of how to deal with it…..You went to our Heavenly Father in prayer. And what should we do….Go to our heavenly Father in prayer.
Thank You Lord for being there for us. We need You Lord and we want You. Thank You that we can count on You. Oh how we praise and thank You.
Thanks You Lord.

And when He came, he went up to Him at once, and said, “Master!” And he kissed Him. And they laid hands on Him and seized Him. Mark 14:45, 46
Lord we see the picture. Judas acting like he is happy to see You and then he betrays You with a kiss. Your other disciples that were there watching must have been shocked. How could someone that had been with You do such a thing.
Thank You Lord for knowing all about betrayal and helping us when we feel betrayed. It is a horrible experience to go through and not become bitter and resentful. Thank You for helping us through all these experiences in life. We need You Lord. We need Your help and we thank You for it.
Thank You…..
Thanks You Lord.

Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “The one I shall kiss is the man; seize Him and lead Him away safely.” Mark 14:44
Lord I don’t think I ever remember thinking that Judas asked them to ‘lead Him away safely.” Quite interesting when we think about it. I have always pictured him as a person that was cruel and uncaring. Here we see the other side of him. He cared what these men were going to do with You. He wanted to be sure You were safe.
Thank You Lord for those in my life that are my protectors. They care about me and pray for me.
Thank You for those that draw me closer to You.
Thank You for the joy in knowing You.
Thanks You Lord.

And immediately, while He was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and scribes and elders. Mark 14:43
Lord what a frightening moment for Your disciples. Of course it was no surprise to You because You knew this was going to happen. You had been telling them about it.
Thank You Lord that there are no surprises to You. You know and You care. You are always with us to meet our needs. You are there when we are happy and You are there when we are sad. We can count on that. Oh how we need You Lord and thank You.
Thanks You Lord.

And He came the third time, and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? It is enough; the hour has come; the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand.” Mark 14:41, 42
Lord Your disciples wanted to be there with You but kept falling asleep. That wasn’t what they wanted to do but it was what happened as they were praying.
Thank You for knowing exactly what we are thinking, You knew they wanted to stay awake but they were just too tired.
Thank You that You are always with us pulling us on to become more and more like You.
Thanks You Lord.

And again He went away and prayed, saying the same words. And again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy; and they did not know what to answer Him. Mark 14:38, 39
Thank You Lord for understanding our weaknesses.
Thank You for being our Lord and Savior.
Thank you for Your unconditional love …..even when we fall asleep praying You understand. Oh how we need You.
Thank You.
Thanks You Lord.

And He came and found them sleeping and He said to Peter, “Simon are you asleep? Could you not watch one hour? Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak.” Mark 14:37, 38
Lord there is something about praying that makes me want to fall asleep too. It certainly works much better than counting sheep. Perhaps it is the comforting feeling in knowing You are there listening and caring.
These three men were in Your presence even though You had gone on a little further away from them.
Lord they wanted to stay awake and pray just like I do but yes, our spirit is willing but our flesh is tired.
Lord this verse helps us all remember how much we need You in our lives. We love You Lord and are oh so grateful that You are always there for us no matter when we come to You in prayer. Oh how we thank You.
Thanks You Lord.

And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee, remove this cup from me; yet not what I will, but what thou wilt.” Mark 14:36
Lord who of us hasn’t wanted ‘the cup’ removed. And we like You Lord have said ‘not my will but Yours Lord.’
Thank You for helping us choose what You want for our lives.
Thank You for calling each one of us to come follow You and then helping us follow.
You know best Lord and we love You.
Thank You.
Thank You Lord.
