Thought For Today

A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a vagabond and want like an armed man. Proverbs 5:10, 11

Lord those of us that love working are truly blessed. Solomon reminds his son that he must be careful or he would find himself out in the cold.

You made us to work Lord and take care of ourselves. How thankful we are when we can do that.

Today we want to thank You for the way You have provided for us.

Your gifts to us Lord and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

Son, if you endorse a note for someone you hardly know, guaranteeing his debt, you are in serious trouble. You may have trapped yourself by your agreement. Quick! Get out of it if you possibly can. Swallow Your pride; don’t let embarrassment stand in the way. Go and beg to have your name erased. Don’t rest until you do. If you can get out of this trap you have saved yourself like a deer that escapes from a hunter, or a bird from the net. Proverbs 6:1 – 5

Thank You Lord for Your words of wisdom and guidance.

It is often very easy to feel sorry for the wrong people and be taken into situations we should never have gotten into.

Thank You for helping us know what to do.

You are there Lord to help and guide us and we thank You.

For a man’s ways are before the eyes of the Lord and He watches all his paths. The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him and he is caught in the toils of his sin. He dies for lack of discipline and because of his great folly he is lost. Proverbs 5:21 – 23

Lord You show us the difference from being wicked and being someone that loves You. The wicked are so enthralled with themselves that they are lost.

Thank You Lord for helping us that love You watch our pathway and listen to Your guidance.

Thank You Lord for watching over us and guiding us each step of the way.

Oh how blessed we are Lord and we thank You.

And now, O sons, listen to me, and do not depart from the words of my mouth. Proverbs 5:7

Lord over and over Solomon warns his sons to listen to him. He also reminds them that they must not depart from what he is telling them.

Solomon was wise and he knew that staying on Your pathway was the right way and he wanted his sons to be sure they did that.

Lord You want that same thing for us. Thank You for caring. Thank You for making provisions for us. Thank You for being right there when we cry out to you. There is so much to thank You for Lord and we do thank You.

Solomon continued) For the lips of a loose woman drip honey and her speech is smother than oil; but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps follow the path to Sheol; she does not take heed to the path of life; her ways wander and she does not know it. Proverbs 5:3 – 6

Thank You Lord for knowledge and words of warning. Oh how they save us from destruction and losing valuable moments of our lives.

Thank You for giving Solomon the wisdom we all need that saves us from destructive ways.

Oh how good it is Lord to let You lead and direct us. Thank You that we can trust You and never have to fear that we are making the wrong choices. You are always there when we call and we thank You.

Solomon continues) My son, be attentive to my wisdom, incline your ear to my understanding; that you may keep discretion, and your lips may guard knowledge. Proverbs 5:1, 2

Lord I don’t know about Solomon’s son but if I were his son I would have had enough of his wisdom by now. I would have been saying to him….. I got it dad….. I got it. You don’t need to say any more I got it.

And Lord how often do we think we have it and then do just the opposite.

Oh how we thank You Lord for Your unconditional love.

Thank You for helping us keep our thoughts and eyes upon You and Your wisdom. Oh how we need it and thank You for it Lord.

Solomon continued to his young son.) Take heed to the path of your feet, then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil. Proverbs 4:26, 27

Lord how wonderful it is to know that when we ask You will guide and direct us in the way we should go.

We are always walking the right way when we keep our thoughts on You.

Solomon continued) Put away from you crooked speech and put devious talk far from you. Proverbs 4:24

Lord give us hearts that are pure that always see the good in others.

We are not perfect so why should we expect others to be.

The good news is that You love us unconditionally and we thank You.

Thank You Lord for a heart that loves You.

Thank You that it is possible to keep our eyes on You.

Solomon continued) My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. For they are life to him who finds them, and healing to all his flesh. Proverbs 4:20 – 22

Lord what Solomon is saying to his son You are saying to us.

Be attentive to Your words.

Incline our ear to what You are saying.

Keep everything in our sight.

Keep everything in our heart.

And when we do that Lord we are promised life and healing.

What more could we ask Lord. What more could we want. Thank You.
