Thought For Today

He (the Lord) drew me up from the desolate pit, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. Psalms 40:2

Thank You Lord for answered prayers. David prayed and You answered. Here he is telling us what You did for him.

Thank You for making our steps secure as we look to You and trust You. Thank You for only being a prayer away. You are with us each moment of this day and we thank You.

I waited patiently for the Lord; He inclined to me and heard my cry. Psalms 40:1

Thank You Lord for ALWAYS hearing our cry. We like David often become impatient because waiting is very hard when we want You to change the situation. It is then we have to remember that You want the very best for our lives. You ARE there. You have ALWAYS been there. Oh how we thank You for loving us and giving us peace in the midst of the storms.

“Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear to my cry; hold not Thy peace at my tears! for I am Thy passing guest, a sojourner, like all my fathers. Look away from me, that I may know gladness, before I depart and be no more!” Psalms 39:12, 13

Lord ….what a sad person David was. It seems he felt You were punishing him for the sins he had committed. He is asking You for mercy.

Lord how we thank You for the peace You give us when we listen to You and follow Your instructions for our lives. There are no regrets only joy. You delight in Your children. Thank You for Your blessings as we walk with You today.

Deliver me from all my transgressions. Make me not the scorn of the fool! I am dumb, I do not open my mouth; for it is Thou who hast done it. Remove Thy stroke from me; I am spent by the blows of Thy hand. When Thou dost chasten man with rebukes for sin, Thou dost consume like a moth what is dear to him; surely every man is a mere breath! Psalms 39:8 – 11

Lord once again we hear David pleading with You for mercy. It seems to me he is close to You one moment and then the next moment he is begging You to have mercy and help him. At times he is thanking You and in the next breath he is begging for You to help him.

Lord the great news is You are ALWAYS with us. You are our ROCK. You are our comfort. You are our wisdom. You are our strength. You are all those things to us today and so much more and we thank You.

Behold, Thou hast made my days a few handbreadths, and my lifetime is as nothing in Thy sight. Surely every man stands as a mere breath! Surely man goes about as a shadow! Surely for nought are they in turmoil; man heaps up and knows not who will gather! Psalms 39:5, 6

How wonderful it is to know that You know all about us Lord. Our days are in Your hands. We thank You for another day to love and serve You. This is the day that You have made let us rejoice and me glad in it. Thank You for today!

As I mused, the fire burned; then I spoke with my tongue: “Lord, let me know my end, and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is!” Psalms 39:1 – 4

Lord …. We look to You today for answers just as David did. There are many today that are asking the same question David ask …. ‘let me know how fleeting my life is’…. Are You there Lord? Do You hear my cry…. Thank You for Your promise that lets us know that You will NEVER leave us or forsake us. You are right here with us helping us through each moment of each day. You are our peace. You are our contentment. You are our JOY. You are with us and we thank You.

Thank You Lord that You are there and You hear our cries for help. You heard David and rescued him. You hear us and You rescue us too.

Thank You for asking us to come to You. Thank You for Your wisdom and Your strength.

For I am ready to fall, and my pain is ever with me, I confess my iniquity, I am sorry for my sin. Those who are my foes without cause are mighty, and many are those who hate me wrongfully. Those who render me evil for good are my adversaries because I follow after good. Psalms 38:17 – 20

Lord….David was going through a very difficult time in his life because of the wrong he had done. He knew there were those that had every right to be totally disappointed and discussed with him. But there were those that could not stand him because he did good thing and they were the ones that bothered him the most. They were the ones he was afraid of. They were the ones he wanted to be rescued from.

Lord I am so glad You forgive us when we stumble and fall. You pick up the pieces of our lives and use us for good. We are not cast away. We are revitalized and used once again. Your love for us is there. You love us and help us walk on. Oh yes we still have the scars but praise God there are scabs on them and the healing begins once we see our wrong and look to You and ask forgiveness. You are there ….ALWAYS …. Helping us ….changing us….loving us. Oh how we praise and thank YOU!

Lord…David speaks to our own hearts this morning. How often we find fault with others and they find fault with us. Thank You Lord for prayer and forgiveness. Thank You most of all Lord for Your unconditional love that picks us up and helps us walk as You want us to walk. Oh how grateful we are that You are ALWAYS there to help us. Oh how we praise and thank You.
