Thought For Today

But I am like a deaf man, I do not hear, like a dumb man who does not open his mouth. Yea, I am like a man who does not hear, and in whose mouth are no rebukes. Psalms 38:13, 14

Thank You Lord for the wisdom and knowledge You give us that love You. Often we like David don’t hear and don’t speak until You open our ears to hear and our eyes to see. Thank You for only being a prayer away. We love You Lord and thank You for Your many gifts. Thank You for loving us unconditionally.

Those who seek my life lay their snares, those who seek my hurt speak of ruin, and meditate treachery all the day long. Psalms 38:12

Lord … David knew his only help was in You. He knows what his enemies are trying to do. He tells You in this verse all that they are plotting.

Thank You Lord that this was not the end for David. He cries out to You over and over for help ….

Thank You Lord that You are ALWAYS there when we cry out to You. You were with David and You will be with us.

Lord, all my longing is known to Thee, my sighing is not hidden from Thee. My heart throbs, my strength fails me; and the light of my eyes—it also has gone from me. My friends and companions stand aloof from my plague, and my kinsmen stand afar off. Psalms 38:9 – 11

Lord ….no one likes to feel like David is feeling. His friends and family have deserted him. His health is failing. He knows that You know just what is going on in his life. Lord You always know what is going on in our lives and You repeatedly tell us to come to You. Come to You when we are beaten down like David. Come to You when we have lost our way. Come to You when we are confused and don’t know what to do.

Thank You Lord for always being there with a listening ear and the strength to carry on. Thank You for Your unconditional love that picks us up and puts our feet on solid ground once again. Thank You for loving us unconditionally. We love You Lord and thank You

David continued….. My wounds grow foul and fester because of my foolishness, I am utterly bowed down and prostrate; all the day I go about mourning. For my loins are filled with burning, and there is no soundness in my flesh. I am utterly spent and crushed; I groan because of the tumult of my heart. Psalms 38:5 – 8

Oh the price we pay Lord when we don’t obey You. David was a very unhappy man because of his sin. There was no peace in his soul. He wanted his own way and took his own pathway rather than listening to You…..now there is no rest in his soul.

Thank You Lord for being a loving and forgiving God. Thank You for forgiveness. Thank You for Your unconditional love.

O Lord, rebuke me not in Thy anger, nor chasten me in Thy wrath! For Thy arrows have sunk into me, and Thy hand has come down on me. There is no soundness in my flesh because of my indignation; there is no health in my bones because of my sin. For my iniquities have gone over my head; they weigh like a burden too heavy for me. Psalms 38:1 – 4

Lord thank you of a conscience. It is because You have given us a conscience that we know right from wrong. David knew that he had done wrong and he felt terrible. He knows that any punishment that he would receive was warranted.

Thank You Lord for allowing us to come to You for forgiveness no matter how horrible the sin. Thank You for a conscience that bring us to our knees in repentance.

Thank You Lord for giving us the privilege of coming to You for refuge. We are never without Your watchful eye upon us. You know us and You love us. Oh how blessed we truly are.

Lord … it is us that David is talking about. We are Your righteous. Thank You for our salvations. Thank you for being our refuge. Thank You for guiding and directing us today. How blessed we are and we thank You.

David continued ….. Mark the blameless man, and behold the upright, for there is posterity for the man of peace. But transgressors shall be altogether destroyed; the posterity of the wicked shall be cut off. Psalms 37:37, 38

Oh to be like You Lord. David continues to point out the difference between those that love and follow You and those that in their own wicked way try to ruin others’ lives. They are miserable themselves so they others to be miserable also.

Thank You that we can keep our eyes upon You and become the winners in life. You guide and direct us. You fill us with Your love and contentment. There is JOY in serving You and we are truly blessed.

I have seen a wicked man overbearing, and towering like a cedar of Lebanon. Again I passed by, and lo, he was no more; though I sought him, he could not be found. Psalms 37:35, 36

Lord ….David has reminded us over and over how You take care of those that are following You and not the wicked. He is making the reference here that he had seen a wicked man but when he passed his way again he was gone.

Thank You Lord for the comfort in knowing that You are with us each moment of the day and each moment of the night. We love You Lord and thank You.

The wicked watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him. The Lord will not abandon him to his power, or let him be condemned when he is brought to trial. Psalms 37:32, 33

Lord …David had experienced Your protection and Your love. He wrote these words from the wisdom of what had happened in his own life. He knew You were always with him.

Thank You Lord that we too have the assurance that You are always with us. Thank You for being with us today providing many, many gifts and blessings. We love You Lord and thank You for Your unconditional love for us.
