Thought For Today

My soul is cast down within me, therefore I remember Thee from the land of Jordan and of Hermon, from Mount Mizar. Deep call to deep at the thunder of Thy cataracts; all Thy waves and Thy billows have gone over me. By day the Lord commands His steadfast love; and at night His song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life. Psalms 42:6 – 8

Lord how wonderful it is to burst into songs of praise. There are times when songs just start bubbling out in praise and thanksgiving for all You are and all You have provided. Often there is nothing specific but my heart just sings ‘thank You Jesus’ over and over again.

Lord thank You for being there at all hours of the night so we can wake and thank You for Your love. Then I think of the others that need Your touch in their lives and You are there to listen.

There is so much to thank and praise You for Lord ….You are awesome!

Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him, my help and my God. Psalms 42:5

Lord there are some times we like David just have to stop and realize where our help has always come from. You have been with us before and You will be with us again. You are our hope. You are our help. You do bring peace in the midst of the storms. Thank You for the gift of Your peace today Lord.

These things I remember, as I pour out my soul; how I went with the throng, and led them in procession to the house of God, with glad shouts and songs of thanksgiving, a multitude keeping festival. Psalms 42:4

Lord…David was rejoicing in his history. He was going through a difficult time and he reached back in his memory to remember . How wonderful it is to remember those time when we knew You were right there helping us through a difficult time. Perhaps You sent a friend or relative to give us a word of wisdom that changed our outlook. Perhaps it was a smile someone passing our way shared. Perhaps it was ‘giving the cup of water in Your name’ that blessed us and changed us. Thank You Lord for using just what we need when we need it. You are ALWAYS there showing us the way and I thank You.

Lord once again today I want to thank You for ALWAYS being with me. Thank You for ALWAYS loving me unconditionally. You never stopped loving David and You will never stop loving me. Oh how I thank You.

Lord we too thank You for Your many gifts and blessings to us. Thank You for the joy in knowing and serving You. Thank You for walking through our days with us. Thank You for being with us through the night. We are never without Your presence and we thank You.

By this I know that Thou art pleased with me, in that my enemy has not triumphed over me. But Thou hast upheld me because of my integrity, and set me in Thy presence forever. Psalms 41:9 – 12

Thank You Lord that even though our friends forsake us You never will. You are always there for us…..loving us with Your unconditional love. Your love for us sent You to the cross. Thank You that someday we will spend all eternity with You.

My enemies say of me in malice; “When will he die, and his name perish?” And when one comes to see me, he utters empty words, while his heart gathers mischief; when he goes out, he tells it abroad. All who hate me whisper together about me; they imagine the worst for me. They say, “A deadly thing has fastened upon him; he will not rise again from where he lies.” Psalms 41:5 – 8

Thank You Lord for Your love for us. David was going through a very difficult time in his life. Some of us are going through what David did right now and some of us have been through it and may have to go through it again. The Good News is You are right with us through it ALL. We can come to You in prayer and ask Your help just as David did. And today we know the outcome of David’s prayers. He WAS delivered. He did survive. Our lives are changed too when we trust in You like David did. Oh how we praise and thank You.

As for me, I said, “O Lord, be gracious to me; heal me, for I have sinned against Thee!” Psalms 41:4

Lord how wonderful it is to know that we can come to You with our joys and our sorrows. You are there. You hear. You answer. You know what is best for our lives. Thank You for helping us trust You.

David knew he had sinned and he needed emotional healing. He felt very guilty. Thank You for being there to hear him and answer him. It is an encouragement to us and give us faith to believe there are answers for us too. You are listening to us just as You were listening to David and we thank You.

Blessed is he who considers the poor! The Lord delivers him in the day of trouble; the Lord protects him and keeps him alive; he is called blessed in the land; Thou dost not give him up to the will of his enemies. The Lord sustains him on his sick bed; in his illness Thou healest all his infirmities. Psalms 41:1 – 3

Lord …there are blessings in giving. Here David is showing the blessings that are there when we consider the poor.

Lord I am humbly and gratefully remembering …when as a child…. the blessings we received when others gave. Yes we were the poor that David talks about here. We were blessed by those that gave. Gifts that were never forgotten by our family even though it was long ago.

Today Lord I have been blessed in knowing how great it is to receive and how great it is to give. Today I thank You for those that gave and I thank You that I can give. BUT most of all I am grateful today that You gave Your all so I could spend all eternity with You. What a gift! How can we ever thank and praise You enough. You gave Your all for ME!
