Thought For Today

He gave them hail for rain, and lightning that flashed through their land. He smote their vines and fig trees, and shattered the trees of their country. He spoke, and the locust came, and young locusts without numbers; which devoured all the vegetation in their land, and ate up the fruit of their ground. He smote all the first-born in their land, the first issue of all their strength. Psalms 105:32 – 36.

Lord these would be very hard things to live through and yet even with all of these things they would not let Your people go. It’s amazing what it takes for us to listen to You. We thank You for loving us through all the trials in our lives. Some challenges come and go and others stay for a lifetime. Thank You for always being there with Your unconditional love.

Then Israel came to Egypt; Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham. And the Lord made His people very fruitful, and made them stronger than their foes. He turned their hearts to hate His people, to deal craftily with His servants. Psalm 105: 23 – 25

Lord I am so glad You are always with us to help us through each day. We need You every hour of our lives. We need Your comfort. We need Your joy. We need Your peace. Thank You for providing each one of them. We always have You with us and we thank You.

When He summoned a famine on the land, and broke every staff of bread, He had sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave. His feet were hurt with fetters, His neck was put in a collar of iron; until what He had said came to pass the word of the Lord tested him. The king sent and released him, the ruler of the peoples set him free; He made him lord of the house, and ruler of all his possessions, to instruct his princes at his pleasure, and to teach his elders wisdom. Psalms 105:16 – 22

Lord and thus we have the history of Joseph. This verse shows us how You are always teaching us and helping us draw closer to You. You see everything that is going on in our lives. Oh how we thank You for helping us through this day. Thank you for showing us the way. We love You Lord and thank You. .

When they were few in number, of little account, and sojourners in it, wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people, He allowed no one to oppress them; He rebuked kings on their account, saying, “Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!” Psalms 105:12 – 15

Lord how wonderful it is to know that You are that same Lord today. You care about Your people. You watch over us and protect us. Thank You for being with us today. Thank You for Your unconditional love.

He is mindful of His covenant forever, of the word that He commanded for a thousand generations, the covenant which he made with Abraham, His sworn promise to Isaac, which He confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant, saying “to you I will give the land of Canaan as your portion for an inheritance.” Psalms 105:8 – 11

Thank You Lord that we can always trust You. Your word is true and You are faithful to each promise. As the song of old says … we are still …‘standing on Your promises.’ Thank You for Your peace today. Thank You for Your joy. Thank You for being the same yesterday, today and You will be the same forever.

Remember the wonderful works that He has done, His miracles, and the judgments He uttered, O offspring of Abraham His servant, sons of Jacob, His chosen ones! Psalms 105:5, 6

Thank You Lord for all we have to remember. When this Psalm was written You had not come to earth and yet they had many good things to remember. We thank You for coming to earth. We thank You for dying for us. Our lives have been changed because You came and we thank You.

Thank You Lord for Your strength. In our weakness You remain strong. There is nothing too hard for You.

Glory to His Holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice! Psalms 105:3

Thank You for being with us today Lord. Over the weekend we mourned the attacks of 9-11. For me personally it was a life changing experience. It was shocking. I could not believe what I was seeing happen. My heart cried out to You. Thank You for being there to help us all through a very difficult time in history. Today we are crying out to You for all that is going on in our world once again. Thank You for the faith we have in knowing You will show us the way. Thank You for helping us draw even closer to You. We do ‘Glory in Your name’ for we know You are right here bringing us Your peace.
