(Jesus continued talking to the Pharisees)  “Woe to you; for you are like graves which are not seen, and men walk over them without knowing it.”  Luke 11:44

Lord You sure didn’t cut these Pharisees any slack.

You sure told them just what you thought about them.

You exposed them for who they were.

Thank You Lord for showing us what we are really like.

Thank You Lord that when we ask You forgive us.

Thank You that we can always come to You and ask for insight.

Thank You that You loved the Pharisees and You love us.

Thank You that we have life because of You.

Thank You for the joy in serving You.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued)  “Woe to you Pharisees! for you love the best seat in the synagogues and salutations in the market places.”  Luke 11:43

Lord You continued to expose these Pharisees and tell all that were in the crowd just what they were like.

Once again You saw who they were and why they were acting as they did.

They were very proud men that pushed themselves to the front to be noticed.

They not only thought they were better than everyone else they felt they deserved the best and put others beneath them.

They felt that no one was as good as they were or deserved what they deserved.

Thank You Lord for seeing our hearts and understanding our motives.

Thank You that when we are misunderstood when doing the right thing You see our heart and You know our motives.

Thank You that You understand when others don’t.

Thank You that You quiet our hearts and calm our souls.

Thank You for lifting us up and setting our feet upon the solid rock.

We are blessed.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued)  “But woe to you Pharisees! for you tithe mint and rue and every herb, and neglect justice and the love of God; these you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.”  Luke 11:42

Thank You Lord that You don’t let us get by with anything that doesn’t please You.

Thank You for exposing the Pharisees and giving us an example of how not to live.

Thank You for showing us that to the world they looked wonderful because they did everything for show.  They wanted everyone to think they were the greatest people on earth.

Thank You for knowing our motive and our hearts.

Thank You for calling us to become more and more like You.

Thank You for giving us the power and wisdom to change in Your image.

Oh to be like You Lord.  Oh to be like You.

Thank You that with You ALL things are possible and that means that You can change us as we look to You and ask.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “But give for alms those things which are within; and behold, everything is clean for you.”  Luke 11:42

Thank You Lord for shinning Your spotlight on those things that are not right in our lives.

Thank You for pointing out to the Pharisees how they needed to change.

Thank You Lord for not allowing us to point fingers at others because we have so many needs in our own lives.

Thank You for exposing those that looked like they did everything right and yet their hearts were far from You.

Thank You Lord that You never give up on us but are always calling us back to You.

Thank You for the peace and joy that is ours when we follow You.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued)  “You fools!  Did He who made the outside make the inside also?”  Luke 11:40

Lord in reading about the Pharisees and their desire to have everything beautiful on the outside while the inside was decaying reminds me of a verse.  Man looks at the outside but God looks at the heart.

Sometime Lord it is easier to see the outside and make judgments before we have a chance to observe and see the beauty within.

Thank You Lord that You see all and know all.

Thank You that you see us for who and what we are.

Thank You for opening our blinded eyes and setting us on the correct pathway.

Thank You for Your unconditional love and concern.

I love You Lord.

Thank You Lord for loving me unconditionally as I struggle to become more and more like You.

Thank You Lord.

And the Lord said to him, (the Pharisee) “Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside you are full of extortion and wickedness.”  Luke 11:39

Thank You Lord that You see us for who we are.

Thank You for not allowing us to get by with anything that is not the truth.

Thank You for exposing the Pharisees to all that were there that day.

Thank You that even though You exposed this Pharisee You still loved Him and wanted Him to see who You were and what Your mission was.

Thank You for Your unconditional love and compassion.

Thank You for calling us to Yourself and then waiting for us to answer.

We are blessed Lord.

Thank You!  Thank you Lord.

The Pharisee was astonished to see that He (Jesus) did not first wash before dinner.  Luke 12:38

Thank You Lord for being different.

Thank You for showing us that we must follow You and not customs or rituals.

Thank You that even though You knew others would be telling You how wrong You were it didn’t matter to You.

Thank You for following Your path by doing the will of Your Father that had sent You.

Thank You that all things are possible to those that believe.

Thank You for Your wisdom and Your knowledge.

We have all these gifts because of You and I thank You.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued)  “If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly bright, as when a lamp with its rays gives you light.”  Luke 11:36

Lord I wonder if these scriptures had more meaning in the time when they were spoken than today.  After all the only way they had light in the darkness was to fill their lamps with oil.  Today we are so fortunate to flip a switch.  The ball parks light the whole area as if it were day.  We have it so easy today compared to all these people when this was written.

And yet Lord I wonder how grateful we are.  I wonder how close to You we are.  I wonder if we let Your light fill our whole lives.

Thank You Lord that You have given us everything we need to have lives that are full of Your light.

Thank You that in You there is no darkness.

Thank You that You have come to all of us that we might have the light that shines on our pathway and brings us to You.

Thank You that You allow us to share that light with those that are in darkness and stumbling.

Thinking about all of this Lord makes me so humble and grateful.  I bow in gratitude.

Thank You for being the light in my life.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued)  “Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness.”  Luke 11:35

Thank You Lord that You often give warnings in the scripture.

Thank You for the warning about our eyes and what we take into ourselves with our eyes.

Thank You that You give the strength and wisdom to walk away when we need to.

Thank You for helping us stay when we need to stay and make changes with Your help.

Thank You that You are our guide and You show us Your way and help us walk in that way.

Lord we have it all because we have You and I thank You.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued)  “Your eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is sound, your whole body is full of light; but when it is not sound, your body is full of darkness.”  Luke 11:34

Lord as a small child I can remember singing the song ‘Oh be careful little eyes what You see….for the Father up above is looking down in love so be careful little eyes what you see.  We would point to our eyes when the word eyes was sung and then point to heaven when Father was sung.  A simple little song but today I realize how important that song was and continues to be today.  For I know Lord that once taken into my sight whether beautiful or sad the thought remains and either enhances my life or has a negative affect.

Thank You Lord that You are my light within.

Thank You that I can ask You to help me to be careful what my eyes see.

Thank You for the strength and wisdom You give when I cry out to You.

Thank You that You are there to guide and direct me in all my ways.

I am blessed and I thank You Lord.

Thank You Lord.
