(Jesus continued)  “There you will weep and gnash your teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God and you yourselves thrust out.  Luke 13:28

Lord this is what you were telling those that were listening when you told them that You did not know them.

They were following You to see the miracles but they had never committed their lives to You.

Thank You Lord for giving us all a choice.

Thank You for arms wide open.

Thank You for Your unconditional love.

Thank You for giving each of us the choice of spending eternity with You.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’
But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know where you come from; depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.'”
Luke 13:26, 27

Lord this is such a sobering verse.

You have given us the picture of the crowd listening, wondering who You truly were.

Some may have even said they knew You were sent from God.

You give them the opportunity to follow You and yet there were those that listened and walked away.

Thank You for Your patience Lord.

Thank You for Your warning.

Thank You for calling each one of us.

Thank You for the opportunity to come to You.

Thank You Lord.

And some one said to Him, (Jesus) “Lord, will those who are saved be few?”  And He said to them, “Strive to enter by the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.  When once the householder has risen up and shut the door, you will begin to stand outside and to knock at the door saying ‘Lord, open to us.’  He will answer you, ‘I do not know where you come from.'” Luke 13:24, 25
Lord thank You for the opportunity to follow You.

Thank You that You call us all and want us all.

Thank You for giving us the choice of following You or going our own way.

Thank You that the door is open today for each of us to walk through it and find You.

Thank You for the peace and joy in following You.

Thank You Lord.

And again He (Jesus) said, “To what shall I compare the kingdom of God?  It is like leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till it was all leavened.”  Luke 13:20, 21
Lord You gave those You were talking to a picture of what was a wonderful thing in their day.

To have the woman have this happen was something to rejoice over.

Thank You that we all can rejoice that the kingdom of God is going to be something that will cause us all to rejoice.

Thank You that it is a gift from You to treasure and look forward to.

Thank You that it is a reward that will never go away because it is for all eternity.

It is our goal.

It is our quest.

Thank You that we who love You will spend eternity with You.

Thank You Lord.

11/10/08

(Jesus continued)  It (the kingdom of God) is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and sowed in his garden; and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air made nests in its branches.”  Luke 13:19

Lord when I stop to think about what you are saying here my heart cannot help but give thanks and praise for what You have prepared for us.

Thanks You for the seeds of love that are planted in our hearts.

Thank You for their growth for as we grow in You and become more and more aware of what
You are like we see how unconditionally You love us.

Thank You for the way others are drawn to You as we become more and more like You.

Thank You for the hope that the thought of spending all eternity with You brings.

We are blessed because You came.

Thank You Lord.

He (Jesus) said therefore, “What is the kingdom of God like?  And to what shall I compare it?  Luke 13:18

Lord thank You for always reminding the crowd why You were upon the earth.

Thank You for always pointing to Your Father.

Thank You for the hope You gave those there that day and the hope You give us today.

Lord there is nothing to compare to the joy and peace of knowing and serving You.

You knew that and that is what You were trying to tell us when here on earth.

There is a great reward for those of us that love and serve You.

Thank You Lord.

11/6/08

As He (Jesus) said this, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by Him.  Luke 13:17

Lord thank You for the victory You won.

Thank You that there were others that agreed with You even if it was only for the moment.

Thank You for the momentum that was gained that caused others to want to be around You.

Thank You that You healed this woman that needed healing so badly.

Thank You for Luke’s account that gives us all insight into what life was like with You when You were here.

Thank You Lord.

11/5/08

(Jesus continued talking with the ruler)  “And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?”  Luke 13:16

Thank You Lord that You know the hearts and minds of those that would seek to destroy.

Thank You for standing up for what You knew to be the truth.

Thank You that there are no disappointments in Your actions.

Thank You for risking the rebuke of this crowd to heal.

Oh to be like You Lord and stand on Your side all the time.

There is victory when we serve You because You are with us.

Thank You Lord that You never leave or forsake but are always there to guide.

Thank You Lord.

11/4/08

Then the Lord answered him, (the ruler) “You hypocrites!  Does not each of you on the sabbath untie his ox and his ass from the manger, and lead it away to water?”  Luke 13:15

Lord thank You for knowing our thoughts and motives.

Thank You for seeing right through this man that was accusing You.

I am so glad Lord that You see my thoughts and motives too.

You know my heart and You know my desires.

Thank You for knowing the truth about us and still loving us unconditionally.

Thank You Lord.

11/3/08

But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the sabbath, said to the people, “There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.”  Luke 13:14

Thank You Lord that You don’t care what day it is or what is going on when You heal us.

Thank You that You didn’t have to listen to what the rulers of that day wanted You to do.

Thank You for seeing their hearts and knowing it was all about control and not about their love of God.

Thank You for Your unconditional love for all of us.

We are blessed because You came.

Thank You Lord.
