Thought For Today

(Jesus continue)  “Now when these things begin to take place, look up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”  Luke 21:28

Thank you Lord for giving us hope.

Thank You that You are there to bring a way out.

Thank You for Your redemption.

Thank You that You are with us and we can count on You.

Thank You for taking all our fears and filling us with Your peace and joy.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued)  “Then will they see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with great power and glory.“  Luke 21:27

Lord keep our eyes upon You today.  Keep us looking up to You because You are there with everything we need and want.

Lord yesterday we read about all the terrible things that were going to happen on this earth and today You go on to tell us that when all these things happen those that look up will see You coming in the cloud.

Thank You Lord that we can ‘look up’ today and find strength.

Thank You that we can look up and find wisdom.

Thank You that we can look up and find peace.

Thank You that we can look up and find joy.

Oh Lord may we never forget to look up.  The rewards are great when we take time to do that Lord.  You know.  You care.  You love us.

(Jesus continued)  “There will also be signs in sun, moon and stars, with distress on earth among the nations, bewilderment at the roaring of sea and waves, men swooning from dread and apprehension about events that are about to take place in the world; for the powers of heavens will be shaken.”  Luke 21:25, 26

Lord how You love us.  You truly love us and that love is so unconditional.  When I read this scripture – horrible as it all sounds – it reminds me that You promised me a peace that passes all human understanding.  How I need that peace to operate in my heart and mind all day every day.  There is so much in my own life I don’t understand and that coupled with what is taking place in this world could be devastating apart from Your love for me.  A love that is so unconditional that it boggles my mind.  Oh how I thank You Lord for Your peace.  How I thank You Lord for Your joy.  How I thank You Lord for victory over all that would enter my mind to pull me away from knowing how much You care.

Thank You Lord that You are my rock and my strength.

Thank You Lord that I am not unique but this same strength is for all who reach out to You and take it.

We are so, so blessed.

(Jesus continued)  “Alas for those who are with child and for those who give suck in those days!  For great distress shall be upon the earth and wrath upon this people; they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captive among all nations and Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.”  Luke 21:23, 24

Lord You continued to give Your warning to everyone listening.  I am sure they listen intently and hung on every word wondering – is this true?  What is to happen to us?

Thank You Lord that we can know today that when we are absent from this earthly body we are present with You.

Thank You that we know the truth and that truth has set us free.

Thank You that we are free to love and serve You.

Draw us closer and closer to You Lord for it is then that nothing on earth matters.

What love You have for us Lord.  Oh how we praise and thank You.

(Jesus continued)  “Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside the city depart, and let not those who are out in the country enter it; for these are days of vengeance, to fulfill all that is written.”  Luke 21:21

Not a very pretty picture Lord.  Sounds like a very traumatic time.

Thank You for Your warning Lord so that we all can be ready.

Thank You that You are always with us.

Thank You for giving us Your peace.

Thank You that our perfect love for You can cast out all our fears.

(Jesus continued)  “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has come near.”  Luke 21:20

Lord You were warning those that were listening to You to take heed of what was going on and when they would know the end was coming.  I wonder how many that were listening thought You were crazy.  I wonder too how many listening wondered if what You were telling them was true and what they were going to do when these horrible things happen.

Thank You Lord for calming all our fears.

Thank You for faith that believes and trusts.

Thank You for preparing a place for us in heaven and telling us that when we are absent from the body we are present with You.

Lord how blessed we are to have Your unconditional love.

Thank You for knowing all and seeing all.

(Jesus continued)  “But not a hair of your head will be lost.  In your steadfastness you will gain possession of your souls.”  Luke 21:18, 19

Lord You were talking about all the trials that were going to happen because we believe in You.  Now You continue on by telling us how we will profit because of these trials.

Thank You Lord that we can trust You.

Thank You for knowing the number of hairs on our heads because that shows us how You truly do know all about us and care.

Thank You that You have promised us that ALL things will work together for our good because we are trusting You.

Thank You for increasing our faith when we cry out to You.

Lord there is so much to thank You for today.

And in the hearing of all the people He (Jesus) said to His disciples, “Beware of the scribes, who like to go about in long robes, and love salutations in the market places, and the best seats in the synagogues, and the places of honor at feasts, who devour widows’ houses and for a pretense, make long prayers.  They will receive the greater condemnation.”  Luke 20:45 – 47

Lord it often amazes me what people go through to con others.  It is the same today.  People go to great lengths to fool others.

Thank You Lord for discernment.

Thank You that when we ask – You increase our discernment.

Thank You for increasing mine because I asked You for it.

Thank You for allowing me to keep asking Lord because I know I still don’t have enough.

Thank You for Your gifts that are ours for the asking.

Oh how short we sell ourselves by failing to ask You Lord.

Thank You for always being there to guide and direct.

(Jesus continued)  “For He (the Son of man) will be delivered to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and shamefully treated and spit upon, they will scourge Him and kill Him, and on the third day He will rise.”  Luke 18:32 – 34

Lord, You were talking with Your disciples.  What must they have thought?  They loved You and were following You.

Thank You Lord for the sacrifices You made for us.

Thank You that You came to give us life and a life more abundant than we could ever have thought possible.

Thank You for the peace and joy that You give Your followers today.

Thank You for the gift of knowing and serving You.

And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded any one of anything, I restore it fourfold.”  Luke 19: 8

Lord I wonder if anyone there other than You knew what kind of a man Zacchaeus really was.  They were judging him but did they truly know these things that he was doing.  How he was telling You he was was certainly not what the crowd was thinking he was like.

Thank Lord that You see us for who we truly are.

Thank You that You know what we are like and how we are trying to serve You.

Thank You that You are the one that we are here to follow and listen to.

Thank You that the crowd that finds fault isn’t what matters in life Lord.   What You think of us matters.
