Then came the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover must be sacrificed: so He (Jesus) sent Peter and John with instructions, “Go and get the Passover ready for us to eat.”  Luke 22:7, 8

Lord You also observed the traditions of that time.  The Passover was an important time and You were making ready for it.

Thank You Lord for those times when we can stop and reflect and remember.

Thank You for the joy so many Holidays bring us as we gather with family and friends.

Thank You for our minds that remember – how wonderfully we have been made Lord.

The joys of life are endless Lord.

Thank You Lord.

He (Judas) consented (to the money) and looked for a chance to betray (Him) to them (chief priests and scribes) away from the crowd.  Luke 22:6

Oh Lord how we need You in our live.  How we need to keep ourselves focused upon You.  There are so many things in our lives that would pull us away from You.  Oh yes they seem so wonderful and enticing but in the end they bring destruction and pain.

Thank You Lord for being our cross bearer.

Thank You that we can trust our lives to You and know that You are there to guide us in the best way.

Thank You for the confidence we can have in You.

Thank You for ALWAYS being there.

Thank You Lord.

They (chief priests and officers) were delighted and agreed to give him (Judas) money.  Luke 22:5

Lord we read in the scripture that the LOVE of money is the root of all evil.  Certainly we see that in the case of Judas.  He was willing to betray You for the money he would get.  This was the temptation that would do him in and Satan knew that.

Thank You Lord that You know our weaknesses and help us with Your strength to overcome.

Thank You for helping us overcome each temptation as we keep our eyes upon You and what You want for our lives.

Thank You that we don’t have to be like Judas and give in.

Thank You for being our rock to keep us faithful to You.

Thank You Lord.

Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, who was counted among the Twelve, and he went off to confer with the chief priests and officers how he might deliver Him (Jesus) to them.  Luke 22: 3, 4

Temptations Lord.  We all have them.  Judas gave in to the temptation.  His life in the end didn’t turn out as he thought it would because of giving in to it.  What a lesson for all of us to see and learn from.

Thank You Lord that You tell us that there is no temptation that You will not help us overcome.

Thank You for the power to stay true to You in the midst of any temptation.

Thank You for Your unconditional love that helps us make the right choices.

Thank You for the peace that comes after the struggles are over and we have let You be Lord of our lives.

Thank You for victory Lord.

Thank You Lord.

The feast of Unleaved Bread, called the Passover, was drawing near and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking a way to kill Him; (Jesus) for they were afraid of the people.  Luke 22:1, 2

Lord this is such an interesting picture.  The people in power didn’t like it that You were so popular and had so much influence.  They wanted You totally out of the picture so the plot began on how they could kill You.

Thank You Lord for Your wisdom and knowledge.

Thank You for knowing their evil hearts then and knowing the evil hearts in the world today.

Thank You that Your love is for all and You call all to Yourself and show us the way to walk.

Thank You for working with me and being patient in showing me a better way.

I am blessed.

Thank You Lord.

Early in the morning all the people resorted to Him (Jesus) in the temple to listen to Him.  Luke 21:38

Lord what a wonderful picture of You standing in the temple telling those listening about Your Father.   I can imagine there were those that drank it all in and loved what You were saying.  Then there were those that wondered who You were and if what You were saying was true.  And then – there were the doubters and the scoffers.

Thank You Lord for knowing the hearts of those that were listening to You.

Thank You that You know our hearts today.

Thank You that You see us and know us and continue to love us.

Thank You for calling each one of us to come follow You.

Thank You Lord.

During the day He (Jesus) taught in the temple, but at night He went out and stayed in the open at what is called the Mount of Olives.  Luke 21:37

Lord thank You  for Luke that tells us what Your life was like on earth.

Thank You for coming to earth and showing us how to live.

Thank You that even though we are not perfect like You with Your help we can become more and more like You.

Lord You give us such hope each and every day that we walk and talk with You.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued)  “Be on your guard, so that your hearts are not overloaded with dissipation, drunkenness and worldly cares, and that day takes you by surprise like a trap; for it will come upon all the inhabitants of the globe.  But you be vigilant and pray unceasingly so that you may have strength to escape all those impending events and to stand in the presence of the Son of Man.”  Luke 21:34 – 36

Lord Your words do not paint a very pretty picture.  You tell us what not to do and yet every day it is so easy to find ourselves entangled in the web of the world.  Today we live in such a fast paced environment that it is hard at times to step back and reflect.  And yet Lord underneath it all we have that peace that passes all understanding that only You can give.

Thank You Lord for peace in the midst of trauma.

Thank You for peace when things are calm and the world looks beautiful.

Thank You for giving us nature that brings us peace and helps us see You.

Lord we have everything if we will just reach out to You and take it.

Thank You Lord.

9/22/09

(Jesus continued)  I assure you that all this will happen before this generation passes away.  Heaven and earth will pass away but My words will not pass away.  Luke 21:32, 33

Lord, thank You for loving us so much.

Thank You for speaking to us while You were on this earth.

Thank You that You still speak to us today through Your words that were written so long ago.

Thank You for speaking to me as I sit at Your feet and listen.

Thank You for the peace that You alone can bring as I keep my eyes upon You.

Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) told them a parable, “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees; as soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near.  So also when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near.  Luke 21:29, 30, 31

Lord You so often took the every day things and what people knew about to explain things.  They could see the fig tree and knew what you were talking about.

Thank You Lord that You still speak to our hearts today.

Thank You for gently nudging us back to You when we stray.

Thank You that with Your help we continue to grow and change.

Oh to be like You Lord.

Thank You for loving us unconditionally and showing us Your way to live.

Thank You Lord.
