Thought For Today

Then Jesus said to the chief priests and captains of the temple and elders, who had come out against Him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?  When I was with you day after day in the temple, you did not lay hands on me.  But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”  Luke 22:52, 53

Lord thank You for Your understanding of all that goes on in life.

Thank You for seeing clearly what these men were about to do to You.

Thank You for showing them just what they were doing.

Thank You for knowing all about us and seeing all our thoughts and desires.

Thank You for Your help that is always there when we call out to You.

Thank You that we can know You are there with Your unconditional love and comfort.

Oh how blessed we truly are.

But Jesus said, “No more of this!”  And he touched his ear and healed him.  Luke 22:53

Lord thank You for Your healing touch be it physical or emotional.

There are times Lord when we need Your healing touch and You send just the right person to us and our lives are changed.  Thank You.

Thank You for always knowing just what we need when we need it.

Thank You for the trust we can have in knowing that You always know and care.

Thank You Lord.

And when those who were about Him (Jesus) saw what would follow, they said, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”  And one of them struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his right ear.  Luke 22:49, 50

Lord thank You for those that want to go the extra mile in protecting us.

Thank You for Your disciples that loved You enough that they were ready to draw their swords when they thought You were in danger.

Thank You for knowing all and seeing all and knowing their hearts.

Thank You for knowing our hearts and our motives today.

Lord I am so grateful for Your unconditional love that loves me in spite of all my shortcomings.

Thank You.  Thank You Lord.

While He (Jesus) was still speaking, there came a crowd, and the man called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them.  He drew near to Jesus to kiss him; but Jesus said to him, “Judas would you betray the Son of man with a kiss?”  Luke 22:47, 48

Lord thank You for knowing our hearts and our motives.

Thank You for seeing what Judas was trying to do.

Thank You for knowing who he really was.

Thank You that in spite of who Judas was and what he was doing You loved him.

Thank You for calling us all to forsake our ways that are not pleasing to You and become more and more like You.

Thank You that with Your help that is possible.

Oh to become more and more like You Lord.

Thank You for making that possible as we keep our hearts and thoughts on You.

Thank You Lord.

Arising from prayer and going to the disciples, He (Jesus) found them asleep from sorrow, and said to them, “Why are you asleep?  Rise up and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”  Luke 22:45, 46

Lord I find it so easy to fall asleep praying.  It seems though when in sorrow I can’t sleep and can pray so this is the opposite for the disciples as it is for me.

Thank You Lord for the gift of prayer.

Thank You for allowing us to commune with You.

Thank You for insights given when we totally turn our thoughts to You.

Thank You for keeping us from yielding to temptation because of our focus that is totally upon You.

These are our gifts Lord when we walk and talk with You.  Thank You.

And being in an agony He (Jesus) prayed more earnestly; and His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down upon the ground.   Luke 22:44

Thank You Lord for suffering for us.

Thank You for the opportunity that is ours to come to You in prayer.

Thank You that You are always there to bring comfort when we are hurting because You understand how we feel.

Thank You for the peace that You alone can give in all circumstances of our lives.

Thank You for knowing all about us.

Oh how blessed we are Lord because of Your unconditional love for us.

And there appeared to Him (Jesus) an angel from heaven strengthening Him.  Luke 22:43

Thank You Lord for showing us how to go through difficult times.

Thank You for giving us the strength to endure.

Thank You for Your promise that You will never leave or forsake us.

Thank You for peace that passes all understanding.

(Jesus prayed)  “Father, if thou art willing, remove this cup from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Thine, be done.”  Luke 22:42

Thank You Lord again for showing us how important it is to do Your will.

Thank You that we have Your help when we are called to do what we think is impossible.

Thank You that You were willing to do the will of Your Father in spite of the pain it would cause You.

Thank You for going to the cross for us so that we can have life.

Thank You for giving Your all for us.

Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) withdrew from them (disciples) about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed.  Luke 22:41

Thank You Lord for being our example.

Thank You for teaching us how to pray.

Thank You for helping us see how important it is to pray.

What a gift it is to us Lord to be able to talk with You and listen to what You have to say to us.

And when He (Jesus) came to the place He said to them,  “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”  Luke 22:40

Thank You Lord for helping us when we are tempted.

Thank You that we can pray not to even enter into temptation.

Thank You that the victory is ours for the asking.

Thank You for Your strength.

Thank You that we need never fear.  You are always with us.
