The next day he (John) saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29

Lord what a wonderful verse. I can remember learning it as a little child. It has so much to say to us about John. He knew who You were and why You had come. He knew You were the sacrificial Lamb sent to redeem us all.

Thank You Lord for the faith John had that believed.

Thank You for John’s courage to stand against the adversity he so often felt.

Thank You that he knew who You were and why You had come.

Thank You Lord that we have the option today of knowing You.

Oh how blessed we are to be able to learn from John.

Thank You Lord.

This all took place in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing. John 1:28

Lord I love the saying ‘Bloom where you are planted.’ John was certainly blooming where he was planted. He was exactly where You wanted him to be and he was doing exactly what You had called him to do.

Thank You Lord for allowing us to bloom where we are planted.

Thank You for using us for Your honor and Your glory no matter where we are.

Thank You for allowing us all to be Your vessels.

We have much to praise and thank You for Lord.

Thank You for each breath we breathe.

Thank You Lord.

Now they (priests and Levites) had been sent from the Pharisees.
John 1:24

Lord once again as we continue our journey in John’s life we see that there were those that wanted to know all about him. The news about him had gotten all the way to Jerusalem.

Lord I want to thank You for John’s example to all of us today.

John was trying to prepare those alive at that time for Your coming.

He had a job to do and he was doing it to the best of his ability with Your help.

Thank You for using us to bring honor and glory to Your name.

We are humbled and bow in gratitude.

Thank You Lord.

They (priests and Levites) asked him, (John) “Then why are you baptizing. If you are neither the Christ, or Elijah, nor the prophet?” John answered them, “I baptize with water; but among you stands one whom you do not know, even He who comes after me, the thong of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie.” John 1:25 – 27

Lord once again we see John’s humility. He certainly has a lot to teach us. He could have ‘tooted his own horn’ so to speak but he pointed everyone to You. Of course they had no idea who he was pointing to because they did not accept You as the messiah.

Thank You Lord for those that are humble and only want to bring glory to Your name.
Thank You for working in our lives to allow us to become more and more like You.

Thank You for the joy in serving You and what a great example John was of that Lord.

Thank You Lord.

They (priests and Levites) said to him (John) then, “Who are you? Let us have an answer for those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?” John 1:23

Lord, this verse spoke to my heart and I want to look at it again. I have been thinking about John and his life here on earth and what it means to us today. They had asked John who he was because of the life he lived that was so different. They wondered if he was You or Elijah. Since he had said no to both of these questions they kept questioning him and wondering who he truly was. They never gave up asking because they needed to take the answer back to the Jews in Jerusalem that were wondering. This tells me his reputation had gone a long way.

Thank You Lord for John and his life.

Thank You for all we are learning from him.

Thank You for his love and devotion to You.

Oh to be like him Lord and let our light shine for You.

With You Lord all things are possible.

Thank You Lord.

They (priests and Levites) said to him (John) then, “Who are you?” Let us have an answer for those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?” John 1:23

Isn’t this picture interesting Lord. Here were these priests and Levites questioning John for those that were in Jerusalem. They were all trying to figure out who John was. He was becoming so popular that they were sent to try and figure out who he was.

Thank You Lord for the fire that was in John’s soul that made him want everyone to anticipate Your coming.

Thank You for the gift that You gave him and what a special gift it was.

Thank You Lord for giving each of us a gift and not only giving us the gift but giving us the power to use that gift for You.

Oh how blessed we are Lord because of Your unconditional love for us.

Thank You Lord.

He (John) said, (to the priests and Levites) “I am not (Elijah).” “Are you the prophet?” And he answered them, “No.” John 1:22 b

Lord what an amazing thing to read about John that shows us how much he looked forward to Your coming. He was so focused upon You that others wondered if he was actually You or a prophet. What a great thing to be said about this man. How great it would have been to have been around him and to have heard him talking about You.

Thanks for John, Lord.

Thanks for all he teaches us about humility.

Thank for His love for You.

Oh to be full of Your love, Lord. Thank You for teaching us more and more about You through John.

Thank You Lord.

And they (priests and Levites) asked him, (John) “What then? Are you Elijah? John 1:21

Lord as I read this I can’t help but wonder about John. His reputation sure must have told a lot about him. The priests and Levites were asking him if he was Elijah. First though they had asked him if the was the Christ.

Thank You Lord for John’s reputation and all we are learning about him.

Thank You for the example he was to all that were watching him.

Lord he has much to teach us as we read from this book of John.

Thank You for the many lessons we can learn from him and his great love for You.

Thank You Lord for John and his life.

Thank You Lord.

And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” He confessed, he did not deny, but confessed, “I am not the Christ.” John 1:19, 20

Thank You Lord for John’s life.

Thank You for all he taught us.

Thank You for his transparency.

Thank You Lord that when we think of John we think of someone that wanted to bring praise and glory to You and only You.

Thank You Lord.

No one has ever seen God; the only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has made Him known. John 1:18

Thank You Lord for coming to earth.

Thank You that we can know about God because of You and all You taught us.

Thank You for faith to believe and accept You.

Thank You for each gift that You give us Lord.

Thank You Lord.
