Thought For Today

The woman (at the well) said to Him, (Jesus) “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.” John 4:15

Thank You Lord for Your patience with us.

Thank You for Your patience with this woman. She obviously had no idea what You were talking about. She wanted to save herself the trouble of going to the well and drawing water.

Thank You Lord for showing us truths in the scripture when we also look foolish when we don’t understand.

Thank You for changing us moment by moment into Your image.

Thank You Lord.

Jesus said to her, (the Samaritan woman at the well) “Every one who drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst; the water that I shall give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:13, 14

Oh how thankful we all are for the ‘living water.’

Thank You for how it changed our lives.

Thank You that it was there for us when we cried out to You.

Thank You!

The woman said to Him, (Jesus) “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep; where do you get that living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, and his sons, and his cattle?” John 4:11, 12

Living water …. It is obvious Lord that this woman had no idea what You meant by living water. Today we understand because we can see what You were talking about.

Thank You Lord for giving us ‘living water.’

Thank You for allowing each of us to come to You.

Thank You for showing us that You are there for all people.

Oh how great it is to be Your child Lord.

Thank You.

Jesus answered her, (Samaritan woman) “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water.” John 4:10

Thank You Lord for giving us the opportunity to have Your living water today in our lives.

Thank You for offering this gift to all.

Thank You that when we come to You we can come just as we are.

Thank You for changing us and allowing us to be called Your sons and daughters.

Oh how thankful I am that You came to bring life to all.

The Samaritan woman said to Him, (Jesus) “How is it that You, a Jew ask a drink of me, a woman of Samaria?” John 4:9

Lord You continue to change us from the inside out. You showed us a better way to live and Your example lives on in each one of us that follow You. Thank You for Your example.

Thank You for Your love.

Thank You for calling each of us to come follow You.

Thank You that You call ALL and not just a select few.

Oh to be more like You Lord – full of Your love and desire to do all for the Father.

Thank You that with You that is possible.

For His (Jesus) disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. John 4:8

Lord we read in these few verses that You were weary, thirsty and now we read that You were hungry. You were just like we are today. We have the same needs today as You had when You were on earth. One other thing that is interesting is that You were with Your disciples meaning that You had relationships also.

Thank You Lord that John shows us the human side of You.

Yes You were our Lord and Savior but You also came to show us that You know what it is like to hurt too.

Thank You for the comfort that only You can bring as we cry out to You.

Thank You for a peace that passes all human understanding.

Thank You for being Lord of my life.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

For His (Jesus) disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. John 4:8

Lord here You were at the well talking with a woman from Samaria. A woman that no Jewish man would ever talk with.

Thank You Lord for showing us that with You everyone is the same.

Thank You that there are no differences – all are equal.

Oh how good it is to know that and walk in Your shoes.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.” John 4:7

Thank You Lord for all we can learn from You.

Thank You that You were willing to be different.

Thank You for helping us when we are called to do something that is hard to do.

Thank You that You always help us when we cry out to You.

Thank You Lord.

He (Jesus) had to pass through Samaria. So He came to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there and so Jesus, wearied as He was with His journey, sat down beside the well. It was about the sixth hour. John 4:4 – 6

Lord I love the way John writes and gives us a picture of Your life. We can follow along with You as You live out Your life. One thing that is hard for us to remember is that You were walking. We are so spoiled today.

Thank You Lord for this story that John unfolds about Your life.

Thank You for the way John fills in the blanks for us in telling us where You are and what You are doing.

Thank You for our intellect that has continued to change the way we live.

Thank You for Your insight and giving men the brain power to think of ways to make our life more productive and comfortable.

Thank You that our world is changed by You and the knowledge You impart to each of us.

Now when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John (although Jesus Himself did not baptize, but only His disciples) He left Judea and departed again to Galilee. John 1 – 3

Thank You Lord that we can learn from Your wisdom.

It is one thing to just run away from problems and another thing to be lead by Your Spirit and leave.

Thank You for showing us the difference.

Oh how blessed we are to have Your guiding light.
