And she (Mary) gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped Him (Jesus) in swaddling cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. Luke 2:6, 7

Lord we all know these verses so well. We have the picture etched in our minds. We have heard the story ever since we were little children. It is a story of Your humble beginning. For me it reminds me that You were willing to give up everything for me. What am I willing to give up for You? Am I willing to listen to Your still small voice within and follow the light You have given me? The Christmas star bright in the sky calls me on to give my all to become more and more like You Lord.

Thank You Lord for the miracle of Christmas.

Thank You for the peace and joy that only You can give.

Thank You for Your everlasting unconditional love.

Thank You for the beauty of the Christmas season that calls us all to become more like You.

Thank You for coming to earth for me.

Thank You Lord.

Merry Christmas. Peace be with You. My love and prayers are with you. ENJOY!!!! God Bless and Keep.

When they (Jesus disciples) had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat. They were frightened but He said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.”
John 6:19, 20

Lord how frightening that must have been to see someone walking on the water three or four miles out into the sea. They probably could not believe what they were seeing. I can imagine them all talking with each other wondering what was coming toward them. But You calmed their fears and told them it was You. Do not be afraid.

Thank You Lord for Your gentle still small voice that so often brings us comfort.

Thank You for telling us not to be afraid but to trust You.

Thank You for the opportunity to give our cares and burdens to You.

Oh how blessed we are because we can trust You.

Thank You Lord.

The sea rose because a strong wind was blowing. When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near to he boat. They were frightened. John 6:18, 19.

Lord, thank You for always being there for us.

Thank You for helping these disciples see more and more of what You were capable of doing.

Lord nothing was or is too hard for You.

Thank You for being there when we cry out to You.

Thank You Lord.

When evening came, His (Jesus) disciples went down to the sea, got into a boat, and started across the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark and Jesus had not yet come to them. John 6:16, 17

Lord we see the picture painted for us. You went up into the hills. The disciples had apparently waited for You but when You didn’t come down they left without You since it was dark.

Lord there are a lot of questions I have from just these two verses. Why didn’t they wait for You? If these men were Your disciples why did they leave without You. I can only wonder. I can only guess. Did they need to be about the business of the day and need to be in Capernaum?

Thank You Lord that You are patient with us when we fail to wait on You.

Thank You that You love us enough to help us change when we seek You and ask forgiveness.

Thank You for the joy in staying close to You and serving You.

Oh to be like You Lord and full of Your love.

Thank You for showing us Your way which is the best way.

Thank You Lord.

Perceiving then that they were about to come and take Him (Jesus) by force to make Him king, Jesus withdrew again to the hills by Himself. John 6:15

Lord You knew their thoughts and knew they were sure You were going to set up Your kingdom on earth. You had to get away.

Thank You Lord that You know our thoughts today too.

Thank You that You know our motives are pure when we are not understood.

Oh how great it is to know that You are on our side. You see…..You understand….You love us.

Thank You Lord.

When the people saw the sign which He (Jesus) had done, they said, “This is indeed the prophet who is to come into the world!” John 5:14

Lord it must have been so exciting to have been with You that day. The whole crowd must have been talking about what was happening. They were fed with a mere five barley loaves and two fish. Then to all their amazements there were twelve baskets of leftovers. What a day!

Thank You Lord that nothing is too hard for You.

Thank You for coming to earth.

Thank You for being right here with us today to strengthen and encourage us.

Thank You Lord.

So they (Jesus disciples) gather them (loaves and fishes) up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves, left by those who had eaten. John 6:13

Lord You started with 5 loaves and 2 fish and after feeding well over 5,000 You ended up with 12 baskets. These people that were gathered saw a miracle happen. In fact, they were a part of the miracle.

Thank You Lord for supplying food for those that were gathered to hear You.

Thank You that You didn’t only supply the food You also gave them emotional support.

Thank You for always being with us.

Thank You Lord.

And when they (the crowd) had eaten their fill, He (Jesus) told His disciples, “Gather up the fragments left over, that nothing may be lost.” John 6:12

Lord the people that had gathered to hear You were fed and full. Now You asked Your disciples to gather up what was left over. We must remember You only started with five loaves and two fish. This was indeed a miracle.

Thank You Lord for miracles.

Thank You for those times in our lives today when we wonder how in the world something is going to work out. And it does and it works out for our advantage. Thank You for those ‘God’ moments when You are there.

Thank You for never leaving or forsaking us.

Thank You Lord.

Jesus then took the loaves, and when He had given thanks, He distributed them to those who were seated; so also the fish, as much as they wanted. John 6:11

Lord what must it have been like to have been there that day. Everyone was gathered to hear You. All of a sudden You give thanks for the five loaves and two fish that the little boy had brought for his dinner. Then You start passing it out. Everyone could eat until they were full. I am sure the conversations were going on while the food was being passed. Everyone saw the miracle. There was no denying what was happening right before their eyes. Who is this Jesus…they must have said…look what He is doing now.

Lord thank You for being who You are and showing us how much You cared for those that were gathered.

Thank You for those that are willing to share just like this little boy. He gave his all to You when You asked for his lunch.

Thank You for caring for us today Lord.

We are Your treasures and You love us unconditionally.

Thank You Lord.

Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place; so the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
John 6:10

Lord what a crowd gathered to hear You. It is rather amazing to me how many where there. This was a time in history when there was no TV to make the announcement. We know there were more than just men because Andrew had just told You that there was a lad with five loaves and two fishes. Scripture does not tell us how many women and children were there. But ….all were there because of You Lord. They wanted to hear what You would say and if there would be any healings. There was excitement in the air. It was time for them to eat and yet no one was concerned with eating.

Thank You Lord that we are still given the opportunity to listen to You. Oh no it isn’t because You are still here on earth. We have Your scripture. It is our gift to be able to read about Your life and listen to Your Holy Spirit speak to our hearts. When we sit quietly at Your feet and listen we hear Your still small voice within. Oh how blessed we are Lord. Thank You. Thank You Lord.
