Thought For Today

They said to Him, (Jesus) “Lord give us this bread of life.” John 6:34

Lord these men never understood or accepted who You were. There eyes were blind and even though You told them who You were they didn’t get it.

Thank You Lord for opening our eyes so we can see and understand You.

Thank You for the choice You give us to either accept or reject You.

Thank You for Your gift of unconditional love.

Oh how blessed we are Lord.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven; My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” John 6:32, 33

Thank You Lord for giving us the bread of life.

Thank You for giving us that accept You everlasting life. A life that never ends and spends eternity with You. Oh how grateful we are that we will live with You forever and ever. How can we even fathom what that is going to be like. Thank You.

They said to Him, “Then what sign do You do, that we may see, and believe You? What work do You perform? Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ John 6:30, 31

Lord it sounds to me like they were looking for a hand out. These were the same people that you had feed earlier and now they were looking for something else. They wanted to know what miracle You could perform. They were intrigued by You.

Thank You Lord for coming to earth.

Thank You for continuing to put up with all the questions. You could have chosen a different way but You didn’t.

Thank You for loving us unconditionally.

Then they (the crowd) said to Him, (Jesus) “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe on Him whom He has sent.” John 6:28, 29

Lord the people of Your day had a very hard time believing that You were the Son of God. They kept questioning You over and over. People are no different today. We hear the questions asked and statements made – ‘what makes you believe that Jesus was really who he said he was. Why do You believe it. It makes no sense to me.’

Thank You Lord that Your Spirit witnesses to our spirits that You are truly who You said You were.

Thank You for the peace and joy that are ours because we accepted You as our Lord and Savior.

Thank You for ALWAYS being with us to guide and direct us.

Oh how we love You Lord. Thank You for the loving us unconditionally.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Do not labor for the food which perishes but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of man will give you; for on Him has God the Father set His seal.” John 6:27

What a great message Lord. Oh that we could live by it today. It is so easy to want the things of this earth more than the things that bring lasting peace and joy. You have given Your all for us and all we need to do is to reach out and accept Your gift of eternal life. Oh how blessed we are Lord. Thank You. Thank You Lord.

Jesus said to them, (the crowd that had followed Him) “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves.” John 6:27

Lord, why do we seek You today? What are we looking for when we come to You?

Thank You Lord that when we come to You with a humble spirit You never turn away.

Thank You that You are always there to hear us.

Thank You for another moment – yes another New Year – to allow Your love to penetrate our lives and change us.

Oh how blessed we are Lord because of You.

Thank You!

When they found Him (Jesus) on the other side of the sea, they said to Him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” John 6:25

Lord when I read this verse the thought that came to me was ‘Men still seek You.’ There were those that wanted to destroy You and there were those that wanted to hear what You had to say.

Lord as we look forward to a New Year we have the confidence that You will be with us. Thank You for Your promise to never leave or forsake us.

Thank You for another year to serve You.

Thank You for Your peace. Oh how blessed we are because of You and Your love for us.

However, boats from Tiberias came near the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks. So when the people saw that Jesus was not there, nor His disciples, they themselves got into the boats and went to Capernaum, seeking Jesus. John 6:23, 24

Lord there were always those that were trying to stay close to You to hear and see what You were going to do. They wanted to see the miracles. They wanted to hear what You had to say.

Thank You Lord for our curiosity.

Thank You for the desire to learn more about You.

Thank You for placing within each of us the desire to seek You.

We are blessed Lord because You love us.

Thank You! Thank You Lord.

On the next day the people who remained on the other side of the sea saw that there had only been one boat there and that Jesus had not entered the boat with the disciples but that His disciple had gone away alone. John 6:22

Lord these people didn’t miss anything You did. They were always watching You. They were always following You. You had to sneak away and go into the mountains to be alone.

Thank You Lord that You were willing to allow everyone to follow You.

Thank You for calling all of us to come follow You.

Thank You for PEACE. Oh how we all need it in our lives. Thank You that it is ours for the asking.

Then they (disciples) were glad to take Him, (Jesus) into the boat and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.
John 6:21

Lord there is so much we don’t know. Thank You for the miracles that were shown to all who were around You when You were here on this earth.

Thank You for being so ‘matter of fact” about it. You didn’t act as if You wanted their attention and that was why You were doing what You did. It was just a way of life with you. It was what the Father wanted You to do.

Thank You Lord for being our example. May we always look to You for guidance and direction.

Thank You for always being with us to guide and direct.
