(Jesus continued) “Did not Moses give you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law. Why do you seek to kill me?” The people answered, “You have a demon! Who is seeking to kill You.”
John 7:19 , 20

Lies….these Jews could not tell the truth or they would expose their plot. They knew in their hearts they were seeking to kill Jesus but they lied and said they weren’t. Instead they were angry with Jesus because he told them what they were thinking.

Thank You Lord for knowing our thoughts.

Thank You that even though others misjudge us at times and question our motives – You know the truth.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “He who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of Him who sent him is true, and in him is no falsehood.” John 7:18

Oh to be like You Lord and full of Your wisdom and knowledge. Oh to know You better and better so that our lives become so entangled that we speak on Your authority only.

Thank You Lord that You call us all to become more and more like You.

Thank You for Your wisdom and knowledge that is ours for the asking.

Lord we have so many gifts from You that are ours for the taking.

Thank You.

Thank You Lord.

So Jesus said to them, (Jews) “My teaching is not mine, but His who sent me; if any man’s will is to do His will, he shall know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority.” John 7:16, 17

Lord this reminds me of the scripture that says Your sheep hear Your voice. Truly those that love You know when You are speaking to them. They know the truth. They know You are the Son of God.

Thank You Lord for calling us all to – Come follow You.

Thank You for a peace that passes all human understanding.

Oh how great it is to be Your children.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

The Jews marveled at it, (Jesus teaching) saying, “How is it that this man has learning, when He has never studied?” John 7:15

Lord over and over we hear of the Jews being baffled about You. You were teaching and they could not understand how You knew so much when You had not studied.

Thank You Lord that it didn’t bother You that others didn’t like You or understand You.

Thank You for the curious.

Thank You for the joy in knowing and loving You.

We have it all when we have You Lord.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

About the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught. John 7:14

Thank You Lord that You still teach us today.

Thank You for giving us the Bible.

Thank You for speaking to us through it.

Thank You for Your words of encouragement.

Thank You for Your words of comfort.

We know we can go to You and find just what we need.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

And there was much muttering about Him (Jesus) among the people. While some said, “He is a good man,” others said, “No, He is leading the people astray.” Yet for fear of the Jews no one spoke openly of Him. John 7:12, 13.

Lord, You didn’t need to hear what they were saying because You knew their thoughts. You knew why they were following You and what they were thinking. You knew those that loved You and those that didn’t.

Thank You Lord that You still know our hearts and what we are thinking.

Thank You for knowing how much we desire You. Why are we at church each week. Are we truly seeking to worship You and know You better. You see and You know.

You are always with us to strengthen and encourage us.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

But after His (Jesus) brothers had gone up to the feast, then He also went up, not publicly, but in private. The Jews were looking for Him at the feast, and saying, “Where is He?” John 7:10, 11

Lord You knew the hearts of these men. You knew they were out to get You and it wasn’t Your time yet. You knew You had to avoid them and You did.

Thank You Lord for those times when we look to You for guidance and You show us the way.

Thank You for the dangers in life You help us avoid.

Thank You for showing us how to trust and obey You.

Thank You for Your wisdom and Your knowledge that are ours for the asking.

Oh how we thank You. Thank You Lord.

Jesus said to them, (his brothers) “My time has not yet come but your time is always here. The world cannot hate you but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil. Go to the feast yourselves; I am not going up to this feast, for My time has not yet fully come.” So saying, he remained in Galilee. John 7:6 – 9

Lord today is the day we celebrate love and loving. It’s Valentine’s Day. It is our tradition. It is a joyous time for loving couples. And yet there are those that long to be loved or to love. Mates have passed on ….relationships have failed….love never passed there way. So while some people are very happy – this same day that is so wonderful to many is also very hurtful to others.

How I thank You Lord that You love us all the time.

Thank You that there is never a moment that You do not love us

Thank You that Your love is unconditional.

How blessed we are because of You Lord.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

For even His (Jesus) brother did not believe in Him. John 7:5

Lord thank You for families.

Thank You for families that believe in one another.

Thank You for families that accept each other and love each other in spite of their differences.

Thank You for the joy of family gatherings.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus brothers continued talking to Him) “For no man works in secret if he seeks to be known openly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.” John 7:4

Lord, Your brothers meant well. They wanted You to go all over and show everyone what You could do. It would make You famous so more and more people would flock around You. Many would become Your disciples.

Thank You Lord for those in our lives that encourage us.

Thank You for those that stand by us no matter how hard it is for them.

Thank You for Your loving touch which is often brought by someone that cares.

Thank You for letting Your light shine through us.

Thank You Lord.
