On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and proclaimed, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me as the scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water.’” John 7:37, 38

Thank You Lord for asking us all to come and believe.

Thank You for the gifts that are ours when we come to You.

Thank You for the living water we have because of You.

Thank You Lord.

The Jews said to one another, “Where does this Man (Jesus) intend to go that we shall not find Him? Does He intend to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks? What does He mean by saying, ‘You will seek Me and you will not find Me,’ and, ‘Where I am you cannot come’?” John 7:35, 36

Lord it seems the Jewish leaders in Your time were always confused by You. They didn’t understand what You were telling them because they didn’t want to accept who You were. Had they looked at the things written about You they could have understood. They didn’t want to believe that You were their messiah and therefore they had lots of questions.

Thank You Lord for opening our eyes of understanding when we turn our lives over to You.

Thank You for insight to see who You are and what You are all about.

Oh how grateful I am for Your Holy Spirit that is here today to guide us.

Thank You! Thank You Lord.

Jesus then said, “I shall be with you a little longer, and then I go to Him who sent me; you will seek me and you will not find me; where I am you cannot come.” John 7:33, 34

Lord what must these people have thought when You told them you would go and they would not be able to find you. That was a very intriguing statement. How could that be? Where would you go?

Thank You Lord that we know today what happened and where You went.

Thank You for helping us see who You are and why You came.

Oh how much we have because we were born in this era.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

The Pharisees heard the crowd thus muttering about Him, (Jesus) and the chief priests and Pharisees sent officers to arrest Him.
John 7:32

Lord the people loved You and the officials were trying to arrest You. You were gaining too much popularity. They didn’t want You to have so many followers that You could become a threat to them. Jealousy is a horrible thing.

Thank You Lord for Your spotlight that shines on us and points things out in our lives that need to change.

Thank You for Your patience when we call out to You over and over to help us.

Thank You for showing us a better way to live.

Thank You Lord.

So they (people) sought to arrest Him, (Jesus) but no one laid hands on Him, because His hour had not yet come. Yet many of the people believed Him; they said, “When the Christ appears, will He do more signs than this Man has done?” John 7:30, 31

Lord what confusion You were causing. Some people believed and some weren’t sure. Others thought You had too much power and were becoming far too popular. They wanted You stopped.

Thank You Lord that today we have the assurance of who You were and why You came.

Thank You for coming to earth to redeem us.

Thank You for the hope we have in You.

Oh how blessed we are to have You as Lord of our lives.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

So Jesus proclaimed as He taught in the temple, “You know Me and you know where I come from? But I have not come of My own accord; He who sent Me is true, and Him you do not know. I know Him, for I come from Him, and He sent me.” John 7:28, 29

Thank You Lord for Your obedience to the Father.

Thank You for the example You have given us.

Thank You that we too can be obedient.

Thank You for the gift of knowing You better and better each day.

Thank You Lord.

(The people continued) “Yet we know where the Man (Jesus) comes from; and when the Christ appears, no one will know where He comes from.” John 7:27

Lord these people were trying every way they could to discredit You. They did not want to believe that You were their Messiah. They were having a hard time though with all the miracles they were seeing You do. They had questions.

Thank You Lord that we have so much written about Your time on earth.

Thank You for showing us who You truly were.

Thank You for the confidence we can have in You our Lord and our Savior.

Thank You for the peace and joy we have because of You.

Thank You Lord.

Some of the people of Jerusalem therefore said, “Is not this the Man whom they seek to kill? And here He is, speaking openly, and they say nothing to Him! Can it be that the authorities really know that this is the Christ?” John 7:25, 26

Lord there was so much controversy when You were here on earth. There were those that wanted to believe and yet they had questions. Even these in this verse wondered if the authorities knew something they didn’t. They didn’t believe You were the Christ but still we can see they wondered.

Thank You Lord that You have shown us the truth.

Thank You that we no longer have to question.

How wonderful it is to know and serve You.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Moses gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses but from but from the fathers) and you circumcise a man upon the Sabbath. If on the Sabbath a man receives circumcision, so that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with Me because on the Sabbath I made a man’s whole body well. Do not judge by appearances but judge with right judgment.” John 7:22 – 24

Oh Lord how guilty we are yet today. We judge so often on appearance rather than fact. Forgive us Lord. We need Your wisdom and knowledge and the ability to focus upon You and Your teachings rather than on the whims of our own thoughts.

Thank You Lord for asking us to come to You with our questions.

Thank You for wisdom that You alone can give us as we look to You.

Thank You for peace in the midst of the storms.

Oh how we thank and praise You Lord.

Thank You Lord.

Jesus answered them, “I did one deed and you all marvel at it.”
John 7:20

Lord You saw the hearts of these Jewish men that were following You and You knew they were watching You and trying to figure out who You truly were. They didn’t believe You were their messiah. They knew that You were getting a very large following and that was very troublesome to them. Secretly they were still plotting to kill You.

Thank You Lord for eyes of understanding given by You to help us see clearly.

Thank You that when we ask You we receive.

Thank You that we don’t have to always feel Your presence because even when we don’t feel Your presence we KNOW You are with us.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.
