Thought For Today

(Jesus continued) “But I have said these things to you that when their hour comes you may remember that I told you of them. I did not say these things to you from the beginning because I was with you.”
John 16:4

Lord it was so often hard for your disciples to understand all that was happening. You were telling them that You were going to leave them and what would happen when You were gone. Everything You had done previously was enough for them to understand. Now was the time to tell them what You were telling them.

I have to thank You Lord because You are just like that today in teaching us as we learn more and more about You.

Thank You for waiting until we have learned one lesson before teaching us something else that we would never understand without learning the first lesson.

Thank You for Your patience and understand that are ours because of Your unconditional love.

Oh how blessed we are Lord.

(Jesus continued) “I have said all this to you to keep you from falling away. They will put you out of the synagogues; indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God. And they will do this because they have not known the Father, nor Me.” John 16:1 – 3

Lord it was quite obvious when we read these scriptures how much You wanted to prepare Your disciples for what was ahead. It is also obvious that they really didn’t totally grasp what You were say. It took faith for them to believe. This was a totally new concept for them.

Thank You Lord for helping us see who You are and what You were here for.

Thank You for Your unconditional love for it calls us on to become more and more like You.

Thank You for life and the joy we have when we serve You.

Oh how blessed we are.

(Jesus continued) “But when the Counselor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness to Me; and you also are witnesses, because you have been with Me from the beginning.” John 15:26, 27

Thank You Lord for giving us the Counselor…..the Holy Spirit… when You left this earth.

Thank You for Your promise to never leave us or forsake us.

Thank You for being with us every moment of every day.

(Jesus continued) “If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have seen and hated both Me and My Father. It is to fulfill the word that is written in their law, ‘They hated Me without a cause.’” John 15:24, 25

Lord what was it about You that made You so threatening. You only did good things. You healed the sick. You caused blind eyes to see. You were full of love. And yet, they wanted to destroy You. Truly they hated You without a cause.

Thank You Lord for knowing how it feels when we are hated without a cause.

Thank You that we can turn to You for comfort and understanding. You have experienced what we experience.

Thank You for always being there to help us because You understand our hurt feelings. Oh how fortunate we are to have You to turn to.

(Jesus continued) “If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates Me hates My Father also. John 15:21, 22

Today is Valentine’s Day. A day when we think about love and those that love us and bring joy into our lives.

Thank You Lord for Your love …. Your unconditional love.

There is no greater love than Your love and because You love us so much when we turn our hearts to You we are given Your love and Your joy.

What better gift could we have for Valentine’s Day!

(Jesus continued) “Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all this they will do to you on My account, because they do not know Him who sent Me.” John 15:20, 21

Thank You Lord that You are with us all the time.

Thank You for helping us remain strong when others don’t understand.

Thank You for continuing to make us stronger as we keep our eyes fixed on You.

Thank You for being our Lord and Savior.

(Jesus continued) “If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” John 14:19

Thank You Lord for giving Your all for us.

Thank You for teaching us to fix our thoughts on You and serving You.

Thank You for choosing us and calling us to come follow You.

Thank You that we can be in this world but not of this world.

You are our all Lord – thank You.

(Jesus continued) “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.” John 14:18

Lord, we know how much you were hated when You were on this earth. You were hated so much that in the end You hung upon a cross for me and my sin. Thank You for the gift of Your life for me.

Thank You for Your help when we are hated for Your name sake.

Thank You Lord for the peace that You alone can give.

Oh how fortunate we are that we have You.

Lord it is interesting that this is not a request or a suggestion but a command.

Thank You Lord for Your love.

Thank You for giving Your all because You love us.

Thank You Lord for allowing us to know You.

Thank You that You see our thoughts, You know our motives.

Thank You for allowing us to be Your friend.
