Now it was the day of Preparation of the Passover; it was about the sixth hour. Pilate said to the Jews, “Here is your King!” John 19:14

Pilate finally gave up trying to save You, Lord. He finally could do nothing more to save You and took You out to the Jews that were waiting.

Lord it is so hard to keep trying and trying and then to fail. Pilate’s goal was to have You released but that didn’t happen. No matter what he said the people would not believe him. They wanted You dead and wanted that to happen as soon as possible.

Thank You Lord that You are always there.

Thank You for never leaving us.

We can always count on You Lord.

Thank You Lord.

When Pilate heard these words, (everyone who makes himself a king sets himself against Caesar) he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called The Pavement, and in Hebrew Gabbatha. John 19:13

What was Pilate to do. The crowd thought entirely different than he did. I wonder if he was considering the fact that he could lose his own job. I think he was still trying to find a way to let Jesus go.

Thank You Lord for men like Pilate.

Thank for his persistence.

Thank You for those that stand by people that truly need help.

Oh how blessed we are to have them in our lives.

Thank You Lord.

Upon this Pilate sought to release Him (Jesus) but the Jews cried out, “If you release this man, you are not Caesar’s friend; every one who makes himself a king sets himself against Caesar.” John 19:12

Lord, no matter what Pilate said or did he could not save You. We see once again in this verse how hard he tried to have You released. The crowd was angry and they wanted You dead. There was nothing Pilate could do.

Thank You Lord for loving us and going through all of this for us.

You gave Your all and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

Jesus answered him, (Pilate) “You would have no power over Me unless it had been given You from above; therefore he who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.” John 19:11

Lord, You were really letting Pilate off the hook – so to speak. You saw his heart and knew it was pure and that he was doing everything in his power to free You. But….the crowd ….because of the crowd he was powerless.

Thank You Lord for those that stand by us to the end.

Thank You for our cheering section that never gives up on us.

Lord we are so blessed to have those on earth that love us and we are even more blessed because of Your unconditional love for us.

Oh how we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

Pilate therefore said to Him, (Jesus) “You will not speak to me? Do You not know that I have power to release You and power to crucify You?” John 19:10

Lord, Pilate was doing everything within his ability to let You go. He knew You were innocent. He knew the crowd wanted to kill You. He was trying to help You and yet You knew there would be no sense in doing anything because this was Your destiny.

Lord….. thank You for helping us in our darkest hours. You have been there and You understand.

Thank You for never leaving nor forsaking us.

Thank You for allowing us to know You more and more each day.

Thank You Lord.

When Pilate heard these word, (“We have a law and by that law He ought to die because He has made Himself the Son of God.”) he was the more afraid; he entered the praetorium again and said to Jesus, “Where are you from?” But Jesus gave no answer. John 19:8, 9

Lord once again I have to Thank You for those like Pilate that try and look out for us.

Thank You for those that always do the right thing or at least try to do the right thing.

Pilate did not believe You were guilty and was trying to do his best to keep You from dying.

Thank You for Pilate. Thank You for those that are like him that are in our lives today.

Thank You Lord.

The Jews answered him, (Pilate) “We have a law and by that law He ought to die because He has made Himself the Son of God.”
John 19:7

Lord there are those even today that will make sure their evil is carried out even though there are those that would do all in their power to stop them.

Thank You Lord that You are ultimately in control. You Know….You see…You are there.

Oh how blessed we are because we keep our eyes on You.

Thank You Lord.

When the chief priests and officers saw Him, (Jesus) they cried out, “Crucify Him, crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “Take Him yourselves and crucify Him, for I find no crime in Him.” John 19:6

Thank You Lord for those that are on our side and stand up for what is right.

Pilate did his best to save You. He said he found nothing wrong with You. The angry crowd didn’t care what Pilate said they wanted You to die.

This is painful to read but oh how grateful we are Lord that You died for us. We live because You gave Your life for our redemption.

Thank You Lord.

So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, “Here is the man.” John 19:5

Lord this was very humiliating….degrading and demeaning. It is hard to understand why You would choose for this to happen. Perhaps it was so we would know that You had gone through the same things we go through. Yours was the ultimate and ours could not hold a candle to what You endured.

Thank You Lord for showing us that even though You were abused You never shrunk back from Your calling.

Oh to be like You Lord. Thank You for Your many gifts of love…..unconditional love.

Thank You Lord.

Pilate went out again and said to them, (Jews) “Behold, I am bringing Him (Jesus) out to you, that you may know that I find no crime in Him.” John 19:4

Lord, Pilate was in a very difficult situation. He could find nothing wrong with You. He once again told the crowd that You were innocent. He wanted them to release You so he gave it one last shot. We know it did not work. They wanted You to be crucified.

Lord it is so difficult to be falsely accused. There was no fault in You. You were innocent and yet You were condemned.

Lord, thank You for knowing how it feels to be accused of something You didn’t do.

Thank You for asking us to bring our burdens and cares to You for You understand and care.

Thank You for loving us just as we are and calling us on to become more and more like You.

Oh how we need You Lord. Thank You for always being with us.

Thank You Lord.
