Thought For Today

(Jesus continued) “Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek all these things; and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.” Matthew 6:31, 32

Lord…You continue to talk about trusting You. You continue to tell us that You know all our need and You will supply them. You remind us that the most important thing in life is to seek You.

Thank You Lord that as we seek You we find You.

Thank You as we continue to try to know You better and better it happens. You are there waiting.

(Jesus continued) “But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O men of little faith?” Matthew 6:30

Once again Lord we are talking about trust. Can we and do we trust that You will meet each of our needs. Not wants but needs. Sometimes Lord that takes real faith because we don’t see any way the issue can be worked out.

Thank You Lord for always wanting the best for our lives. Often we don’t think what is happening is the best but You know what we need better than we know.

Thank You for the peace that You give us when we trust You.

Oh how thankful we are for Your love for us.

(Jesus continued) “And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” Matthew 6:28, 29

Lord, I had to laugh at Your timing for things that happen in our lives. Just this morning I had four different tops on before finally settling on what I wore to work. No… this one wasn’t right….no that one didn’t quite give me the effect I wanted…. Yes….finally that works. Why am I so picky…. I had to laugh when reading this verse at how You nail me all the time. You cause me to search my soul and my motives. Yes, in all honesty I do love clothes and shoes. Everyone that knows me knows that is a fact. Is that wrong….no…only when I cross the boundaries and it becomes my total focus in life.

Thank You Lord for giving each of us our uniqueness.

Thank You that I can enjoy clothes and shoes as Your gifts to me to bring enjoyment into my life.

Oh Lord….Your love for me goes way beyond what I can even fathom.

Thank You! Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his span of life?” Matthew 6:27

And Lord why oh why do we think we are in control. Who of us can change our stature? Who of us knows when we will die. Lord there is so much we must look to You for and ‘trust’….’trust’…’trust’. Yes there is that option again. Do we want to live our lives full of anxiety or do we want to ‘trust’ that You are fully capable of taking care of us. You ARE in control.

Thank You Lord that we can ‘trust’ You.

Thank You for always being near to guide and direct us.

Oh how can we ever doubt and yet we so often do. You are always there to guide us back to You.

Trust…. You are asking us Lord….can we ‘trust’ You.

Thank You Lord for supplying all our needs.

Thank You for the peace and joy that is ours when we follow You.

Thank You for Your unconditional love.

Oh how blessed we are Lord and we humbly bow in reverence.

(Jesus continued) “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?” Matthaw 6:25

Once again Lord we are being asked by you, “How are we living. Who is important in our live. Are You first. Are we trusting You – knowing that You can take care of us better than we can take care of ourselves?”

Thank You for giving us the gift of not feeling anxious.

Thanks you for being there for us.

Oh Lord we love You and are thankful You are always with us guiding and directing our every move and motive when we put our trust in You.

(Jesus continued) “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” Matthew 6:24

Lord You continue to ask us who do we serve. Who is number 1 in our lives. Who are we serving. We all have answers and often we try to make excuses for our shortcomings.

Thank You Lord for continuing to be patient and forgiving.

Thank You for never leaving or forsaking.

Thank You for Your love for each one of us.

Oh how blessed we are.

Jesus continued) “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light; but if you eye is not sound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! Matthew 6:22, 23

Thank You Lord for Your bright light that shines in and through us.

Thank You that we don’t have to live in darkness because You are the ’light of the world’ and we have You.

Oh how grateful we are for Your light that guides us in the right way to go.

Lord as we begin 2013 it is good to think about Your words once again. What is our treasure and how are we guarding it.

Thank You Lord for being our Treasure.

Thank You for the peace that You along can give.

Thank You for our joy as we serve You.

As we begin another year with You Lord we humbly bow to thank You.

(Jesus continued) “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Matthew 6:19 – 21

Lord, how easy it is to become entangled in the things of today. We need Your reminders to beware of where we are putting our treasures.

Thank You Lord for Your words that remind us of our goal.

Thank You that we can begin our New Year with a renewed emphasis to keep You first in our lives.

Thank You for another day to allow You to shape and mold us into Your image.

How blessed we are on this last day of 2012 to look back and rejoice in all You have provided for us.

Thank You! Thank You Lord.
