(Jesus continued) “He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.” Matthew 10:39

Thank You Lord that You are with us always to help us want what You want for our lives.

Thank You for calling us to ‘come, follow You.’

Thank You for the peace You give when we are following Your will for our lives.

We are blessed because of Your great love for us.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who does not take his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me.” Matthew 10:37, 38

Lord this brings back vivid memories of forty years ago when I read this verse and had to search my heart only to stumble and pray when I came to the word ‘son’….. That was a very hard one for me Lord because I felt like Abraham when he put his son Isaac on the alter. I too had to give You my son and put You before him. I remember the struggle with tears in my eyes as if it were today. You ask our all Lord and that means those that are closest to us. You must be first in our lives and I thank You for Your power to help us put You first. In my own strength I could not do that. It was with Your strength that I struggled through to put You first.

Thank You Lord that You never call us to do anything without giving us the ability to do it. You are always there with Your strength and power to help us and I thank You.

Thank You Lord. Thank You!

(Jesus continued) “For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s foes will be those of his own household.” Matthew 10:35

Lord I guess when we wonder why we have trouble seeing eye to eye on things it should come as no surprise. There will be challenges with every family no matter how loving they are. We all seem to see things in a different way. Perhaps that is the way life is meant to be and by reading this scripture we could find reason to say – ‘Oh well that is how it is.’ Most of us like to have an excuse for our actions. This verse gives us that excuse. But is that what You are really saying. I think not…. I think You are trying to get us to realize that because You want us to be different it causes us discord and discomfort. BUT You are always there to help us become more and more like You. Oh how I thank You Lord for helping me!

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Do not think I have come to bring peace on earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.” Matthew 10:34

Lord, these words are never what we want to hear. And yet we know how true they are. Often it is not easy to stand our ground for You and what we believe.

Thank You Lord for being our peace provider.

Thank You that even though we may not have harmony with everyone on this earth we do have a peace that You alone can provide. You give us a peace in the midst of the storm. Thank You for that peace Lord. It is priceless.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “So everyone who acknowledges Me before men, I also will acknowledge before My Father who is in heaven; but whoever denies Me before men, I also will deny before My Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 10:32, 33

Lord, since You have done so much for us and given us so much one would think we could never deny You. And yet, I think of Peter and how You told him he would indeed deny You. And he did. I find myself wondering how strong I would have been in his same circumstance. Would I have been willing to stand up to the angry crowd any better than he was…..

Thank You Lord for loving us and helping us through each difficult position we are put into.

Thank You for the knowledge that You are ALWAYS there.

Oh how we need You Lord. Oh how we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued talking with His disciples) “Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” Matthew 10:31

Lord there was an interesting e-mail going around that gave us a glimpse of Your love for us in today’s life. In essence it said that You love us so much that if You had a refrigerator our picture would be on it.

Personally Lord I cannot comprehend how much You love me. I know You love me unconditionally. I know You want the very best for my life. I know that You have promised to never give me more than I can bear. Knowing all of this ….I still fall far short of fathoming how much love that truly is. BUT I thank You and will continue to thank You for Your love.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued talking with His 12 disciples) “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father’s will. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.” Matthew 10:29, 30

Thank You Lord for caring about each one of us.

Thank You for knowing all about us.

Thank You for showing us in these verses that You watch over us and care.

We are blessed. We are taken care of. We are Yours Lord.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28

Thank You Lord that we need never have fear because You are always with us.

Thank You for showing us the right way to go.

Thank You for helping us be the best person we can be.

Oh how we want You and need You Lord. Thank You for always being with us.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “What I tell you in the dark, utter in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim upon the housetops.”
Matthew 10:27

Lord this verse reminds me of the song ‘Go tell it on mountain….’ Truly that is what You were asking the disciples to do…… You wanted them to shout the good news from the housetops. There was hope….. There was life… There was love….

Thank You Lord for giving us Your message to shout about.

Thank You for Your wisdom and help when we start shouting the message for You.

Thank You for giving our eyes a glow and our lips the words that changes a dying world. Oh how our world needs you today. You are there. You give hope. Thank You.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master, it is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household. So have no fear of them; for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.”
Matthew 10:24 – 26

Thank You Lord that You are our teacher and our guide.

Thank You that we can trust You. We know You will be with us in whatever we go through in this life.

Thank You for Your peace that passes all our human understanding. Oh how we need it Lord and thank You for it.

Thank You Lord! Thank You.
