But the Pharisees went out and took counsel against Him, (Jesus) how to destroy Him. Matthew 12:14
Lord You had healed the man that had a withered hand on the Sabbath. Now every Pharisee was out to get You. Your popularity was making them want to capture You more and more. They wanted the popularity that You were getting.
Thank You Lord for Your example of love.
Thank You for showing us how to withstand those that come against us.
You are our strength and our guide. We ARE thankful for You Lord.
Thank You Lord.

Then He (Jesus) said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And the man stretched it out, and it was restored, whole like the other. Matthew 12:13
Lord over and over we read of the healing You did when You were on earth.
Thank You for Your healing touch.
Thank You for healing not only the physical but the spiritual and emotional.
Thank You for the confidence we can have in You Lord.
We are Your child and You love us unconditionally.
Thank You Lord.

He (Jesus) said to them, “What man of you, if he had one sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out? Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.” Matthew 12:11, 12
Lord there was a man that needed Your healing touch on the Sabbath. It was against the law to do anything on the Sabbath and thus Your reply to those that were there to see what You would do. This seems to me to be a hard spot to be in until You asked the question. ‘Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath?’
Lord verses like these make me so grateful that You came to fulfill the law. Thank You that we don’t need to follow the law any longer. You have set us free and we are free indeed.
Thank You Lord! Thank You.

And behold, there was a man with a withered hand. And they asked Him, (Jesus) “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?” so that they might accuse Him. Matthew 12:10
Lord it is so hard to be watching Your back all the time when someone is out to destroy you. Someone was always out to destroy You while you were on this earth. What a great example for us to follow because You never gave in. You were always faithful to Your Father.
Thank You for being such a great example.
Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) went on from there and entered their synagogue. Matthew 12:9
Lord it is interesting to see how You were continually on the move. It seems You never stayed long in one place. You went from town to town. There was a plan for Your life. You came with a purpose.
Thank You Lord for a ‘purpose’…..Your purpose for us being here today.
Thank You for the joy You bring when we know we are living that ‘purpose’ to the best of our ability with Your help.
Oh how blessed we are!
Thank You Lord.

He (Jesus) said to them, (Pharisees) “Have you not read what David did, when he was hungry, and those who were with him; how he entered the house of God and ate the bread of the Presence, which it was not lawful for him to eat nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? Or have you not read in the law how on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are guiltless? I tell you, something greater than the temple is here. And if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of man is lord of the Sabbath.” Matthew 12:3 – 8
Thank You Lord for being my Lord and my Savior.
Thank You Lord.

But when the Pharisees saw it, (Jesus disciples plucking ears of grain to eat) they said to Him (Jesus), “Look Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.” Matthew 12:2
Lord when I read things like this it makes me very thankful that I was born when I was.
These Pharisees were totally under the law. How I thank You for coming to do away with the law.
Thank You for the freedom You have given each of us.
Thank You Lord.

At that time Jesus went through the grain fields on the Sabbath; His disciples were hungry, and they began to pluck ears of grain and to eat. Matthew 12:1
Lord we know there was a law against working on the Sabbath. Picking the grain would have been disobeying the rule. I am so glad You came to free us from the many rules that were enforced.
Thank You Lord for the freedom we have in You.
Thank You for the desire to do what You want us to do.
Thank You for loving us unconditionally.
Thank You Lord.

Jesus continued) “Come unto me all who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28 – 30
Lord I have always said these three verses together so I wanted to think about them all at once.
Still as I look at it as one verse I have to thank You for making our burdens light.
Thank You for giving us rest.
Thank You for allowing us to come to You.
I love these verses and the comfort they bring.
Thank You for giving us the privilege …. and it is a privilege Lord …. of resting in You.
Thank You. Thank You Lord.
