Thought For Today

And great crowds gathered about Him, (Jesus) so that He got into a boat and sat there; and the whole crowd stood on the beach. Matthew 13:2

Lord, everyone wanted to see You and hear You. Crowds gathered….everyone wanted a glimpse….all wondered what You would do next.

You went into the boat to get away from the crowd of people. It was your only retort.

You loved these people. You saw their hearts. You knew they believed who You were.

Lord You see our hearts today. You know us and in spite of our shortcomings You love us. Oh how blessed we are Lord. We love You. Thank You for being our Lord and our Savior. We are blessed. Thank You.

Thank You Lord.

That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. Matthew 13:1

Lord this verse makes me want to thank You for the beauty of the earth and all we have been given to enjoy.

You sat beside the sea…. There is something very calming when one sits beside a calm body of water. There is also something tranquil when sitting near the ocean and hearing the crashing waves. You have given us so much to enjoy Lord. Oh how we thank You. Oh how we praise You. Oh how we enjoy ….

Thank You.

While He (Jesus) was still speaking to the people, behold, His mother and His brothers stood outside, asking to speak to Him. But He replied to the man who told Him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” And stretching out His hand toward His disciples, He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother, and sister, and mother.”
Matthew 12:46 – 50

Thank You Lord for Your love for each one of us.

Thank You that Your love is unconditional.

When we stop to think of how much You love us Lord it is an awesome thought to ponder. Oh how we praise and thank You.

(Jesus continued) “Then he (unclean spirit) goes and brings with him seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. So shall it be also with this evil generation. Matthew 12:45

Thank You Lord that You are always with us.

Thank You that we do not need to be afraid.

How great it is to be able to trust You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “ When the unclean spirit has gone out of the man, he passed through waterless places seeking rest, but he finds none. Then he says ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes he finds it empty, swept, and put in order.” Matthew 12:43, 44

Thank You Lord for Your healing touch.

Thank You for being our protection.

We need not fear because we have You.

Then some of the Scribes and Pharisees said to Him, (Jesus) “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from You.” Matthew 12:38.

Faith…..Lord it takes faith to believe. These Scribes and Pharisees wanted to see some miracle. They didn’t want to trust in You and take anything by faith. They wanted to see something supernatural. What they didn’t know and understand was that something supernatural would happen within them when they exercised their faith in You.

Thank You Lord for Your life changing power.

Oh how we love You Lord and thank You for Your Holy Spirit that draws us closer and closer to You.

Oh how we thank and praise You.

(Jesus continued) “I tell you, on the day of judgment men will render account for every careless word they utter; for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:36, 37

Thank You Lord for reminding us of the importance of the words we speak.

Thank You for Your inspiration that helps us know what to say.

Thank You for the Holy Spirit that gives us insight and understanding.

Thank You Lord that we can trust You to guide and direct us.

Oh how blessed we are to have You to follow.

(Jesus continued) “You brood of vipers! how can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil man out of his evil treasure brings forth evil.”
Matthew 12:34, 35

Lord we may be able to fool other people but we sure can’t fool You. You see our hearts. You know what we are thinking. You knew what these Pharisees were thinking even though they were trying to act so pious.

Thank You Lord that You know all about us.

Thank You for knowing what we think and we feel.

Thank You for Your loving arms that are always around us bringing comfort.

You are always there Lord and we thank You.

Thank You Lord! Thank You.

(Jesus continued) “Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or make the tree bad, and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit.” Matthew 12:33

Lord You made so many reference to things of that day and there could be no mistakes in what You were talking about. The Pharisees were bad all the way through and yet they were trying to act as if they weren’t. You saw their heart. You knew they were out to destroy You. You used the illustration of the tree to show what they were like. Their fruit was bad. They were bad. You were exposing them.

Thank You Lord for helping us to bear good fruit.

Thank You for the gift of Your guidance.

Thank You for showing us the best way to walk.

We are Yours Lord and we love You.

Thank You for Your presence in our lives.

Thank You Lord.
