Thought For Today

(Jesus continued) “Hear then the parable of the sower. When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what is sown in the heart; this is what was sown along the path.” Matthew 13:18, 19

Oh Lord how wonderful that when we heard Your call we answered You. Here is what happens so often to those that hear about you but reject You. That chance is snatched away from them.

Thank You that Your seed was not snatched away when You planted it in my soil. Oh how blessed I was when it took roots and grew.

Thank You for teaching me more and more about You each day I live.

Oh how grateful I am for Your presence in my life.

Thank You.

(Jesus continued) “Truly, I say to you, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.” Matthew 13:17

Lord, Your disciples had something that was very special. You walked upon the earth with them. You chose them to ‘come follow You’ and they left all and followed. You were reminding them like You remind us so often of all we have to be thankful for. They had ears that heard and eyes that saw You walking with them.

Help us Lord not to miss those moments of miracles You send our way. Help us to be aware of all You are doing in our lives. Oh how much we have to thank You for Lord

And we do….. Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear.” Matthew 13:16

Thank You Lord that as Your children we do see and we do hear the nuggets of truth You have for us.

Thank You for the wonderful gift of love …. Your unconditional love.

We have so much Lord to thank You and praise You for that we hardly know where to begin. You are our all.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “With them indeed is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah which says: ‘You shall indeed hear but never understand, and you shall indeed see but never perceive. For this people’s heart has grown dull, and their ears are heavy of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should perceive with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart; and turn for me to heal them.’” Matthew 13:14, 15

Oh Lord, how thankful we are for calling us to ‘come follow You.’

How thankful we are that when You called we accepted Your call.

Thank You for being with us and guiding our steps as we keep our eyes upon You.

We love You Lord and we thank You.

(Jesus continued talking with his disciples) “For to him (crowd that would not accept You) who has will more be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away. This is why I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.” Matthew 13:12, 13

Thank You Lord that because we are following You and have eyes to see and ears to hear – we Will see and we Will understand.

Thank You for revealing what others don’t see and don’t understand.

Thank You for filling us with Your knowledge and understand.

Oh how fortunate we are because we are Your children.

Then the disciples came and said to Him, (Jesus) “”Why do You speak to them in parables?” And He answered them, “To You it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.” Matthew 13:10

Thank You Lord for teaching us what You want us to learn.

Thank You for allowing us to come to You for answers.

We are not alone Lord. You are with us to help and to guide.

Oh how we thank You for the peace that You alone can give because we KNOW You are in control.

(Jesus continued the parable of the seeds.) “Other seeds fell upon thorns and the thorns grew up and choked them out.” Matthew 13:7

Lord You know the many things that come into our lives to ‘choke out’ the desire to follow You.

You see our hearts. You know our desires. And still You continue to call us to Yourself.

Thank You Lord for not giving up on us when we turn from You and go our own way.

Thank You for Your persistence.

Thank You for Your light that shines in a dark, dark world.

Oh how blessed we are Lord and we thank You.

Jesus continued the parable of the seeds) “Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they had not much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched; and since they had no root they withered away.” Matthew 13:5, 6

Lord, thank You for sowing Your seeds.

Thank You for not giving up when seeds fall upon rocky ground.

Thank You for sowing Your seeds over and over with a heart full of love and compassion.

(Jesus began a parable) “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them.” Matthew 13:3, 4

Lord as we go through this parable we learn what You are trying to tell us by each of the illustrations.

Thank You for giving us Your words and helping us to see and understand.

Thank You for opening our eyes of understanding when we ask You.

Oh how we need You Lord. Oh how we thank You for calling us.

And He (Jesus) told them (crowd) many things in parables, saying, “A sower went out to sow.” Matthew 13:3

Lord, thank You for staying in the boat close enough to the short to talk with the crowd that had gathered. You could have left and rowed out into the sea so You weren’t bothered by the crowd but You stayed. You wanted to give them something to think about. Something to ponder …..

Thank You Lord for the times You give us things to ponder.

Thank You for the insight that You alone can give. We need You in our lives Lord to see life as You want us to see it. Oh how blessed we are Lord because of You.
