But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced before the company, and pleased Herod, so that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she might ask. Matthew 13:6, 7
Lord , Herod shows us how we can get into things that we really don’t want to get into by saying the wrong things. His promise took him down a pathway that he really didn’t want to go down.
Thank You for helping us to do what You want us to do Lord.
Thank You for keeping us close to You when we look to You and trust You.
Oh how we need You Lord. Oh how we trust You. Oh how we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

And though he (Herod) wanted to put him (John the Baptist) to death he feared the people, because they held him to be a prophet. Matthew 14:5
Lord our lives don’t always turn out the way we hope they would. John was a ‘good guy.’ He was helping others. He was trying to help not hinder when he told Herod it was not lawful for him to have his brother Philip’s wife. That statement caused him to be put into prison.
Thank You Lord that You never forget about us no matter where we are or what circumstances we are in.
You were with John helping him to go through the prison experience. Fun! No not fun…..but You were with him to bring him comfort and help him through the tuff time just as You help us through the tuff times we have today.
Thank You for ALWAYS being with us. We need You Lord. We want You and You are always there.
Thank You Lord.

At that time Herod the tetrarch heard about the fame of Jesus and he said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist, he has been raised from the dead that is why these powers are at work in Him.(Jesus)” For Herod had seized John and bound him and put him in prison, for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, because John said to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.” John 14:1, 2
Lord, John the Baptist was the one that told of You and was the ‘voice crying in the wilderness.’ He loved You and was calling all those that would hear him to come to You and believe that You were indeed the Son of God. Now John was in prison just because someone didn’t like what he was saying. Truth or not that didn’t matter they were out to get him and destroy his life.
Lord even though John was going through a lot of physical suffering we know that all was right with his soul. He was heaven bound. He knew his destiny. He know that they could kill his body but not his soul. He was in prison but his spirit was free.
Thank You Lord for our freedom in You. We know where we are going. We know that heaven is our home and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, “Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat.?” Matthew 15:1, 2
Lord, there was always a scribe or a Pharisee that was trying to discredit what You were trying to accomplish. That is what these men were trying to do. They didn’t want to believe in You and therefore, they wanted to be sure no one else believed either.
Lord there are those on this earth today that are just as zealous as these men were. They continue to try and find thing they say are not accurate in the Bible. They look for any way they can to poke holes in Your life here on earth. They don’t want us to believe.
Thank You Lord that You have won.
Thank You that we have seen the light and believe.
Oh how we praise and thank You.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Have you understood all this?” They said to Him (Jesus), “Yes.” And He said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.” Matthew 13:51, 52
Lord You continued to try and tell those listening to You the value and importance of knowing that heaven was something to be treasured. Once again in this verse You were trying to tell all those listening the treasure that was available to those that believed.
Thank You Lord that today we can see the beginning and the end of what You were talking about.
Thank You for helping us see the value in making You Lord of our lives.
Thank You for going to heaven to prepare a place for each of us that are following You.
What a gift!
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “So it will be at the close of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous, and throw them in the furnace of fire; there men will weep and knish their teeth.” Matthew 13:49, 50
Lord it is a wonderful gift to not have to worry about where we will spend eternity.
In all Your parables You keep talking about heaven as a great reward. Something to strive for. Something to give our all to get and keep.
How great it is to know You will be there waiting for us with open arms.
Thank You!!!
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.” Matthew 13:45
Lord, once again we are reminded just as those You were speaking to were learning what we have in You.
Because You are in our lives and our Lord we know that heaven is our destiny. Heaven is our home.
The old spiritual song says it all, ‘This world is not my home I’m just a passin through.’
Thank You for our assurance of heaven. What a gift. What a treasure. Thank You.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net which was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind; when it was full, men drew it ashore and sat down and sorted the good in vessels but threw away the bad.” Matthew 13:47, 48
Thank You Lord for continuing to tell those listening the importance of heaven.
Thank You for giving them the wisdom to see and hear Your truths.
Thank You that we can read Your words and learn.
Thank You for the ways it changes our lives.
On how blessed we are to know You and love You.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” Matthew 13:44
Thank You Lord for the joy that You give us.
Thank You for the privilege of serving You.
Thank You for the treasure we have in knowing that we are heaven bound.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “The Son of man will send His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all causes of sin and all evildoers, and throw them into the furnace of fire; there men will weep and gnash their teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun to the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.” Matthew 13:41 – 43
Thank You Lord for ears to hear and Your God given ability to understand.
Thank You for Your wisdom.
Thank You for the insights You provide because we are staying close to You.
Oh how blessed we are Lord to have made You Lord of our lives.
Thank You Lord
