He (Jesus) answered, (His disciples) “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Matthew 15:24
Thank You Lord that even though You were sent to the Jewish people You included us that are not Jewish.
Thank You for dying for my sin.
Thank You for loving me.
We are Your children Lord and we thank You for ALWAYS being with us.
Thank You Lord.

But He (Jesus) did not answer her (Canaanite woman wanting healing for her daughter) a word. And His disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away, for she is crying after us.” Matthew 15:23
Lord I can see a great crowd gathering and a woman shouting to You. The disciples were annoyed at her and wanted You to send her away. That would have been the easiest solution. Just get rid of her and then it would be quiet.
Lord the disciples easiest solution was to tell the lady to leave. There are times when others would also say to those crying out to You…..give up…..the Lord doesn’t want You to continue asking and asking.
Lord You ask us to ‘come to You’ and we do Lord. Your answers always come ….it could be wait.
Thank You that You are always with us protecting and guiding.
Thank You for allowing us to come to You to know You better and better.
Oh how blessed we are Lord and we thank and praise You.
Thank You Lord.

And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and cried, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely possessed by a demon.” Matthew 15:22
Lord You had just left an area where a lot of healing had taken place. Now You are at Tyre and Sidon and here is a woman crying out to You for help for her daughter. Everywhere You went there were people that needed Your healing touch. Today there are many that need Your healing touch too. Some like this woman are concerned for their children. Some for the needs within themselves.
Thank You Lord for allowing us to come to You in prayer and make our requests known to You.
Thank You for Your peace in the midst of the storms of life.
You are there! You know! You see! You care!
Thank You Lord.

And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon. Matthew 15:21
Lord there were those in the crowd that were healed. The scribes and Pharisees were constantly after You trying to stop anything You were doing….. You moved on….. You left that crowd and moved on…..
Thank You Lord that You never gave up but You often had to move on.
There are times in our lives also that we too have to ‘move on.’ There are times when we can do no more or say no more and it is time to leave. Thank You for helping us know when that time comes. Thank You for Your guidance and direction .
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus explains the parable to His disciples) “Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and so passes on? But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart and this defiles a man. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, false witness, slander. These are what defiles a man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.” Matthew 15:17-20
Thank You Lord for seeing our hearts and knowing our thoughts.
Thank You for exposing those things that we so often think are so pious and right.
Oh how we need Your Holy Spirit to guide us Lord. Thank You that we can trust You.
Thank You Lord. ….. Thank You.

But Peter said to Him, (Jesus) “Explain the parable to us.” And He said, “Are you still without understanding?” Matthew 15:15, 16
Thank You Lord that You never give up on us. Your disciples had been with You and still they didn’t totally understand what You were trying to say. Once again as we read on we will see that You explained it to them. Thank You that You opened their eyes of understanding and You open our eyes of understanding today too when we ask.
Thank You for Your enlightening insights.
Oh how blessed we truly are.
Thank You Lord.
Thank You.

Then the disciples came and said to Him, (Jesus) “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” Matthew 15:12
Lord, the Pharisees were often offended by what You had to say because You exposed who they truly were.
Thank You Lord for seeing us for who we are.
Thank You that You know us and know our every thought and motive.
Thank You that Your love for us has no ending.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued talking with the Pharisees and scribes) For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother, and ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him surely die.’ But you say, ‘If anyone tells his father or his mother. What you would have gained from me is given to God, he need not honor his father.’ So for the sake of your tradition, you have made void the word of God.
Matthew 15:4 – 6
Lord You were constantly at odds with the Pharisees and scribes. They wanted nothing to do with You. You kept trying to point them in the right direction but they were too steeped in their traditions to even listen to You.
Thank You Lord for not giving up on us when we don’t listen to You.
Thank You for speaking to us over and over and showing us the way to draw closer to You.
Thank You for the insight You alone can give.
Oh how blessed we are to have You in our lives Lord.
Thank You! Thank You Lord.

He (Jesus) answered them, (Pharisees and scribes) “And why do you transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? Matthew 15:3
Lord You were constantly pointing out to these Pharisees and scribes how imperfect they were. They thought they were perfect because they were following the law. They didn’t do anything wrong in their own eyes. Over and over You showed them theirselves as they truly were. They fought back and finally had You crucified.
Thank You Lord for our conscience.
Thank You for showing us what we need to do and then helping us do it.
Thank You for picking us up when we stumble and fall and setting our feet once again on solid ground.
Oh how we love You Lord. Oh how we praise and thank You. Thank You for changing us moment by moment to become more like You….
Thank You Lord.

Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, “Why do Your disciples transgress the traditions of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat? Matthew 15:1, 2
Lord how interesting this scripture would come up today because I just heard David Jeremiah talking about it today on the radio. His insight was interesting and his thoughts made me think of all the things that have changed since I gave my life to You. Oh, no, You never changed but some of the church views changed. What was so wrong way back when I was young is no longer looked at the with the same view today.
Traditions…..traditions are wonderful and often can be very comforting. Sometimes they can even be looked at as a ‘rut.’ A comfortable ‘rut’….that we don’t want to move beyond.
In Jesus day there was a ceremony that went with the washing of the hands before they ate and Your disciples didn’t keep with that tradition once they saw You as their Lord and Savior.
Thank You Lord for moving way beyond the bondage of traditions and laws and giving us a new freedom in You.
Thank You for the peace You along can give us. Oh how we need that peace Lord and it is ours when we keep our eyes focused on You.
Thank You! Thank You Lord.
