And when they came to the crowd, a man came up to Him, (Jesus) and kneeling before Him said, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly; for often he falls into the fire, and often into the water. And I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not heal him.” Matthew 17:14 – 16
Lord, healing is so beyond us. There are times when people are healed and times when they are not healed. We pray… We expect a miracle…. It may or may not happen. You know the reason and we wonder what You know that we don’t know. One thing I do know is that we must continue to ask because we never know what the answer will be.
Thank You for asking us to bring our requests to You.
Thank You for those answers and miracles we see. They are always encouraging and bolster our faith to ask again.
Thank You. Thank You Lord.

He (Jesus) replied, “Elijah does come, and he is to restore all things; but I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not know him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of man will suffer at their hands.” Then the disciples understood that He was speaking to them of John the Baptist. Matthew 17:11 – 13
Lord, I am not sure I understand this any better than Your disciples did. But I do know You were trying to prepare them for what was going to happen in Your life. As much as You continued to tell them they were not prepared for all that would transpire.
Thank You Lord for dying for us.
Thank You for giving us these scriptures to paint a picture for us.
Thank You for always being with us to encourage and strengthen us.
Thank You Lord. Thank You.

And the disciples asked Him, (Jesus) “Then why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?” Matthew 17:10
Thank You Lord that the disciples were always free to ask You questions. They asked questions often. There were times You would answer and times when You did not answer. You always knew the motives and the thoughts when You gave Your answer.
So often the scribes and Pharisees were trying to get You to say something they could condemn You for. You knew that so You knew just what to answer.
Thank You Lord for showing us Your wisdom. Thank You for helping us because we all need wisdom. Wisdom is ours for the asking.
Thank You. Thank You Lord.

When the disciples heard this, (‘This is MY beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased, listen to Him.’) they fell on their faces and were filled with awe. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Rise and have no fear.” And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only. Matthew 17:6 – 8
Lord You disciples had been through a lot and seen a lot when they were with You. Now here is another experience for Peter, James and John….they were in awe….
Lord there have been moments in my life when I too was in awe. My eyes had been opened to a new insight. I had learned while sitting at Your feet. Oh how I thank You for those moments. Thank You for those learning experience. Thank You for those lessons from You. And thank You Lord they will come again when I least expect.
What a gift and what a blessing.
Thank You. Thank You Lord.

And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is well that we are here; if you wish, I will make three booths here, one for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” He was still speaking when lo, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him.” Matthew 17:4, 5
Lord this is the beginning of a new year…. 2014. It is a day when many reflect on what they would like to accomplish over the year. We have Your bright cloud over us today saying, ‘This is My beloved Son…..listen to Him.’ We all are given that opportunity. You will speak to all of us right where we are …..spiritually, physically and emotionally. Oh how we thank You!
Thank You Lord for always knowing just what we need when we need it.
Thank You for always being there for us….never leaving us or forsaking us….Oh how blessed we are.
Thank You for another year to love and serve You.
Oh how we thank You Lord. Thank You!
Thank You Lord.
Happy New Year! Enjoy each moment as a gift from God. My love and prayers are with You. Know that You are loved!

And behold there appeared to them (Peter, James and John) Moses and Elijah, talking with Him (Jesus). Matthew 17:3
Lord, it seems the earthly blinders were taken off these three disciples and they could see as You saw. They seemed to have a glimpse into heaven and the heavenly realm. What a gift they were given.
Thank You Lord for our gift of eternal life that is ours for the taking.
Thank You for coming to earth for us which gives us the choice to accept You and all You have promised.
Oh how thankful we are as we look forward to a new year and all You have in store for us that walk with You.
Thank You for Your gift of life Lord. Thank You for the joy in knowing You.
Thank You. Thank You Lord.

And after six days Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain apart. And He was transfigured before them, and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became white as light. Matthew 17:1, 2
Lord this is Matthew’s account of Your transfiguration. Peter, James and John were the honored three that were with You to witness this event. You were changed right before them.
Thank You Lord for allowing these three human men to see with their own eyes what happened to You.
Thank You for the many miracles they experienced when they were with You. They needed those miracles to help them truly believe that You were who You said You were. Today Lord we can read about Your miracles but it takes our acceptance and faith to truly understand. Thank You for the gift of Yourself. Thank You for Your unconditional love. Thank You for coming to bring us eternal life. Oh how we appreciate Your life and oh how we love You.
Thank You. Thank You Lord.

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East, and have come to worship Him.” Matthew 2:1, 2
Ahhhh, Christmas! Lord it is a time when we all reflect on Your birth. It is a time of rejoicing. It is a time of excitement. Your celebrated birthday …..we reflect Lord on all that happened so long ago and rejoice.
Thank You Lord for coming to earth.
Thank You for the peace You bring to our hearts every day because we know You are with us.
Thank You for the joy of this beautiful season.
Oh how we praise and thank You!
Thank You Lord… Thank You….

(Jesus continued) “For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and loses his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his life?” Matthew 16:26
Thank You Lord that we don’t have to see what our lives would be like without You.
Thank You that we can walk and talk with You and remain close enough that we won’t want to try to gain anything.
Thank You for watching over us and giving us Your peace.
Thank You! Thank You Lord.
