(Jesus continued) “See that you do not despise one of these little ones (children); for I tell you that in heaven their angels always behold the face of My Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 18:10
Wow Lord what an interesting insight. Children have angels in heaven that are watching the face of our Father. This certainly shows us how much each child is valued.
Thanks You for Your love and understanding.
Thank You for the special part each child plays in our lives…..the love….the joy….the happiness.
Thank You Lord. Thank You.

(Jesus continued) “And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter life with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into the hell of fire.” Matthew 18:9
Lord thank You for the emphasis You place on sinning. And why wouldn’t You use every opportunity to warn us. After all it is in sinning that we pull ourselves away from You and what is best for our lives.
Thank You Lord for Your reminders that cause us to run to You for help.
Oh how wonderful it is to know that with You in our lives we can withstand the temptations that so easily beset us as the scripture tells us. Thank You for Your words of wisdom.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter life maimed or lame than with two hands, or two feet to be thrown into the eternal fire.” Matthew 18:8
Oh Lord how we thank and praise You that You are a loving and forgiving God.
Thank You that You have placed within us the desire NOT to sin.
Thank You for giving us Your forgiveness and unconditional love.
Oh how we need You and Your love Lord and we thank You for always being there.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the man by whom the temptation comes! Matthew 18:7
Lord it takes a strong person to withstand temptation. It would not be called a temptation if it was not something hard to resist. Oh everyone isn’t tempted by the same things. We each have those areas of our lives where temptations can overtake us if we are not strong and determined to resist.
I’m thankful Lord that You remind us that it is not a sin to be tempted.
I’m thankful for Your strength to help us endure and stay strong.
Thank You for giving us the tools to stay strong Lord. Oh, how we need them.
Thank You.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me; but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened round his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” Matthew 18:5, 6
Lord, You show us in these verses how much You love little children. As a mother I know what the love a child is like. You have planted deep within us love for our children. It is a very special, protective love.
Thank You Lord that Your love far surpasses any earthy love we could ever give or receive. Oh how fortunate we are to have Your invitation to come to You and accept Your love.
Oh how we praise and thank You that You are waiting with open arms for us to come to You.
Thank You.
Thank You Lord.

At that time the disciples cam to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” Matthew 18:1
Lord this seems such a strange question to ask. Were they trying amongst themselves to see who You loved the most? Why would they ask such a question?
Lord, You were patient with them and their questions all the time and You are patient with us when we have questions. Sometimes Lord I question You over and over as if I may get a better answer the next time. But most of the time You are silent and I wonder. I think that is common and even Your disciples wondered a lot of the time.
But the good news is You are always with me Lord and I thank You.
Thank You Lord.

When they (disciples) came to Capernaum, the collectors of the half-shekel tax went up to Peter and said, “Does not your teacher pay tax?” He said, “Yes.” And when he came home Jesus spoke to him first, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do kings of the earth take toll or tribute?” And when he said, “From others.” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are free. However, not to give offense to them, go to the sea and cast a hook, and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth you will find a shekel; take that and give it to them for Me and for yourself.” Matthew 17:24 – 28
Thank You Lord for allowing us to know about the interesting things that You caused to happen when You were here on earth. This was certainly one of them. Who could have know what You knew….a shekel in the fishes mouth.
Thank You for showing us that You knew everything and could use anything to bring glory to Your name. This was certainly one of those instances.
Thank You! Thank You Lord.

As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of man is to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill Him and He will be raised on the third day.” Matthew 17:22, 23
Lord I wonder what Your disciples thought when You told them You would die and be raised again. That would have been so hard to fathom since it had never happened to anyone before. They must have wondered and talked about it among themselves. We aren’t told by Matthew what they said back to You or if they questioned You. BUT they didn’t leave You Lord. They continued to stay with You as if those words had never been spoken.
Thank You Lord for preparing the disciples for what was going to happen to You.
Thank You for preparing us throughout our lives for all that You have in store for us.
There are so many things in life that we will never understand but we know that You are always with us.
Thank You. Thank You Lord.

Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move hence to yonder place,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.” Matthew 17:19 – 21
Thank You Lord for faith to believe.
Thank You that our faith is something that can grow if we want it to.
Thank You for Your words to Your disciples that also speak to us about faith and how small our faith truly is.
Thank You for loving us and wanting to give us more and more the more we trust You.
Thank You! Thank You Lord.

And Jesus answered, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me.” Matthew 17:17
Lord, Your disciples faith was not there when they prayed for this boy to be healed. They had seen the boy and still he was not healed. I love the faith of the father. He sure had faith. He didn’t give up. He looked for You and asked You.
Thank You for our faith in You that grow and grows with each answer we receive. This man teaches us to never give up. When Your disciples couldn’t heal his son he looked for You Lord and asked You.
You are always there to hear and answer.
Thank You Lord.
