The same day Sadducees came to Him, (Jesus) who say that there is no resurrection; and they asked Him a question, saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies, having no children, his brother must marry the widow, and raise up children for his brother.’ Now there were seven brothers among us; the first married, and died, and having no children left his wife to his brother. So two the second and third, down to the seventh. After them all, the woman died. In the resurrection, therefore, to which of the seven will she be wife? For they all had her.” Matthew 22:23 – 28
Lord the Pharisees couldn’t trick You with their questions and now the Sadducees were trying to trick You with their question.
Thank You Lord that neither of them could trick You because You knew exactly what they were trying to do.
You came to die and give us eternal life and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

And they (Pharisees) sent their disciples saying, “Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God truthfully, and care for no man; for You do not regard the position of men. Tell us, then what You think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” Matthew 22:16 – 19
Lord, You knew these men had come to try and catch You in something that wasn’t according to the law so they could arrest You.
Thank You for knowing our minds and our thoughts Lord.
Thank You that when there is no one that understands You do.
Thank You for the wonderful celebrations of Easter and all it means to us.
We love You Lord and we thank You for Your unconditional love.
Thank You Lord. Thank You.

Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how to entangle Him (Jesus) in his talk. Matthew 22:15
Thank You Lord that You reigned victorious.
Thank You that we know the rest of the story and that death could not keep You.
Today is Good Friday. While a sad day we know it ended with a happy ending…..You arose!
Thank You for the Easter story and all it means to us today.
You are alive and we are alive because You came to earth.
Thank You. Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued the parable) “But when the king came to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment; and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, and cast him into the outer darkness; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.’ For many are called, but few are chosen.” Matthew 22:11 – 14
Lord the rest of this parable sure didn’t make these chief priests and scribes very happy. They wanted to live their lives differently and without accepting You as Lord. They were the person at the wedding without a wedding garment and they knew it.
Thank You Lord for the security we have in You.
Thank You for the gift of eternal life.
Thank You for helping us follow Your plan for our lives.
We praise You Lord for who You are.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued with the parable) “Then he (king) said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those invited were not worthy. Go therefore to the thoroughfares, and invite to the marriage feast as many as you find.’ And those servants went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good; so the wedding hall was filled with guests.” Matthew 22:8 – 10
Lord as we read the rest of this parable we will see what You are trying to show these chief priests and elders that are listening to You. You came to them but they were rejecting You. Therefore those of us that believed were invited to come to You.
Oh how we thank You Lord for inviting us to come sit at Your table.
Thank You for calling us to come follow You.
Oh how we thank and praise You.
Thank You! Thank You Lord.

And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a marriage feast for his son, and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast; but they would not come. Again he sent other servants, saying, “Tell those who are invited, Behold, I have made ready my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves are killed, and everything is ready; come to the marriage feast.” But they made light of it and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them. The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city.” Matthew 22:1 – 7
Lord once again You were talking to the chief priests and elders that were listening to You. They were already upset over the last parable because they knew You were talking about them. Now this parable is talking about them again. This could only make them more and more angry.
Thank You Lord for Your persistence and Your love.
Thank You for never giving up on us.
You know just the nudges we need to bring us closer to You.
Thank You. Thank You Lord.

When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard His (Jesus) parables, they perceived that He was speaking about them. But when they tried to arrest Him, they feared the multitudes, because they held Him to be a prophet. Matthew 21:45, 46
Lord You came to earth to redeem us. You knew the hearts of these men. You knew they were against You and wanted to kill You. You also knew it was not time yet.
Lord how can we ever thank You enough for coming to bring us eternal life.
Oh how we thank and praise You.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued talking to the chief priests and elders) “Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation producing the fruits of it.” Matthew 21:43
Lord these men would not accept who You were. You had won the hearts of the people they were trying to control. They were very unhappy and wanted to get rid of you.
Thank You Lord that You came not only for Your chosen Jewish race but also for those of us that are not Jewish.
How blessed we are to be called Your children too.
Oh how we praise and thank You.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued the parable) “When therefore the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?” (that killed his son) They said to Him, “He will put those wretches to a miserable death, and let out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the fruits in their seasons.” Matthew 21:40, 41
Lord it is obvious that these chief priests and elders didn’t see the correlation between what You were trying to show them and Your own life. I see it clearly.
Thank You Lord for the gift of knowledge You have given us that know You and follow You.
Thank You for the gift of understanding and hearing Your voice call to us.
Thank You that we said ‘yes’ we will ….’come follow You’…..
Oh how we love being called Your child.
Thank You! Thank you Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Hear another parable. There was a householder who planted a vineyard, and set a hedge around it, and dug a wine press in it, and built a tower, and let it out to tenants, and went into another country. When the season of fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants, to get his fruit; and the tenants took his servants, and beat one, killed another and stoned another. Again he sent other servants, more than the first; and they did the same to them. Afterward he sent his son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves. This is the heir; come, let us kill him and have his inheritance.’ And they took him and cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him.” Matthew 21:33 – 38
Lord, I must stop here and reflect because this is Your story. This is what happened in Your life. Others came before you and they were rejected. Here You were talking with the chief priests and elders and they too were rejecting You.
Lord I am so grateful for Your love for us. Thank You for coming to die for us. Thank You for the gift of eternal life. Oh how we thank You!
Thank You Lord.
