Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people assembled at the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, and plotted to take Jesus by trickery and kill Him. But they said, “Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar among the people.” Matthew 26:3 – 5
Lord, You had just told Your disciples this was going to happen and now we hear Matthew telling us what You already knew. It is obvious by reading these scriptures that it was not the general population that wanted to do away with You but the priests, scribes and the elders. You were far to popular and it made them afraid of what You might do having such a large crowd following You.
Oh how I thank and praise You that I am one of those followers.
Thank You that even today I can read Your words and listen to Your still small voice within.
What a gift that is!
Thank You! Thank You Lord.

Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, that He said to His disciples, “You know that after two days is the Passover, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.” Matthew 26:1, 2
Lord thank You for knowing what price You would pay for our sin and yet You endured it all anyway.
Thank You for coming to earth to redeem us.
We are forgiven because You came to die for us. Oh how we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, “Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave Me no food. I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink: I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me. Then they also will answer Him, saying ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Matthew 25:41 – 46
Lord these are sad verses because they are about those that reject You. You give each person the opportunity to accept or reject You. These You are talking about have rejected You. They were given the opportunity but knew what You were saying to them was true. They knew they had rejected You and wanted to live their lives selfishly without You.
Thank You Lord for giving us that follow You eternal life.
Oh how blessed we are Lord that we will spend all eternity with You and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord when did we see You hungry and feed You or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did to one of the least of these My brethren, You did it to me.” Matthew 25:37 – 41
Thank You Lord that nothing goes unnoticed by You. You see all we do and say.
Oh how blessed we are to be known as Your children.
Thank You.
Thank You Lord.

Thank You Lord for giving us a ‘servants’ heart.
Thank You for helping us see through Your eyes of love what others need.
Thank You for allowing us to be Your vessels.
Oh how thankful we are Lord that You use us to bring hope to the hopeless and love to this world that needs You so badly.
Thank You!
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “All the nations will be gathered before Him, (Jesus) and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.’” Matthew 25:32 – 34
Thank You for showing us in the scripture what You have prepared for us.
We are ready and waiting for Your return so we can spend all eternity with You.
Oh how blessed we are to be called Your children.
Thank You.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus told the parable of the talents and ended by saying) “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.” Matthew 25:31
And what a wonderful day that will be Lord. Thank You telling us over and over that You will come again. Some day we will be with You. Oh how we thank You and look forward to spending all eternity with You. Thank You.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued the parable of the 10 virgins – 5 wise and 5 foolish. He likened it to heaven. It is our choice — we will be wise or foolish?)
“Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you, but go rather to those who sell and buy for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding, and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day, nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.’” Matthew 25:3 – 13
Oh how great it is to be given the choice of waiting and watching. My choice is to wait and watch. I know You are coming back. Thank You. Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued with a parable) “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to get the bridegroom.” Matthew 25:1
Lord this is a tradition we don’t have today and yet we can still learn from it and see what You want us to see. Once again Your parable is about watching and waiting. It tells us how important it is for us to watch.
Thank You for helping us live for You as we wait and watch.
Thank You for the excitement You give us as we trust You.
Oh how we thank You for allowing us to come to You.
Thank You.
Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming’ and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour that he is not aware of, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 24:48 – 51
Lord how awesome it is to know You and to love You and be watching and waiting for Your return. I know You are coming back. I don’t know when it will be but I am ready and waiting and watching. There is excitement in the air. What a gift it truly is to be Your child. Oh how I praise and thank You.
Thank You Lord.
