And they (Jesus disciples) were very sorrowful, and began to say to Him (Jesus) one after another, “Is it I, Lord!” Matthew 26:22

Lord the fact that Judas would betray You was no surprise to You but it was a surprise to Your disciples. Judas had been with You and had seen the many miracles You had performed. His heart was evil. It was all a front. His desires were totally self centered. He wanted money and now he had figured out a way to get it.

Oh to be pure in our hearts and faithful to the end as we serve You.

Thank You for helping us along this journey called life. You are always with us and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

When it was evening, He (Jesus) sat at table with the twelve disciples, and as they were eating, He said, “Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” Matthew 26:20, 21

Lord, what a shocking reaction that statement must have caused. Only the person that was going to betray You knew who it was. Only Judas knew he was who Jesus was talking about. All the others must have been very surprised at Your comment.

Lord, thank You that very often we are given Your warning when horrible things are going to take place. Often Your peace supersedes difficult things in our lives to help us through the trauma. One thing we do know for sure is Your promise that You will NEVER give us more than we can handle. That is our gift. That is our promise to stand on and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And the disciples did as Jesus had directed them, and they prepared the Passover. Matthew 26:19

Lord, I too always want to do what You ask me to do.

Thank You for the willingness of the disciples to go and prepare for the Passover for You as You had asked.

Lord we have much to learn from these scriptures as we read on. Thank You for Your wisdom in showing us how we can be more and more like You.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus answered His disciples on where to have the Passover) He said, “Go into the city to such a one, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.’” Matthew 26:18

Lord, Your disciples received their answer.

Thank You Lord that we too received Your answers to our questions today. Oh sometime it is ‘wait’ and that is the hard part for me. I’m not a very patient person Lord. I belong to the ‘instant’ society of today. But I thank You for helping me with waiting to know Your mind and Your thoughts and Your help.

Oh how I need Your direction in my life Lord and I thank You for it.

Thank Your Lord.

Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus saying, “Where will You have us prepare for You to eat the Passover?” Matthew 26:17

Lord, we see here how Your disciples included You and wanted to know Your wishes. It was time for the Passover which was a very important celebration and they wanted to know what they could do for You.

How wonderful it is Lord when there are those that care about us. Thank You for each one of them.

And thank You Lord for giving us the desire and privilege of caring about other.

We have so much to thank You for Lord and we do thank You.

Thank You Lord.

Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, “What will you give me if I deliver Him (Jesus) to you?” And they paid him thirty pieces of silver. And from that moment he sought an opportunity to betray Him. Matthew 26:14 – 16

Lord we all know this story. Horrible as it is. It was how Judas was able to turn You over to these men.

Thank You Lord for Your patience with us .

Thank You for the joy in serving You.

Thank You for coming to earth to redeem us

Oh how we praise You. Oh how we thank You.

Thank You Lord

(Jesus continued) “Truly, I say to you, (His disciples) wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what she (woman with the expensive ointment) has done will be told in memory of her.” Matthew 26:13

Lord what I find so interesting in these verses is the way even Your disciples were critical of this woman and felt the money was wasted. They said it should have been given to the poor.

Lord so often we find others, and myself included, critical of someone that does something the opposite of what they would have done.

It makes me so grateful Lord that You know our motives and our desires. Thank You for seeing our heart and its desire to please You. Thank You for helping us live our lives for YOU. Thank You for Your power and strength to weather the storms caused by others.

Oh how grateful we are!

Thank You Lord…. Thank You.

But Jesus, aware of this, (His disciples and the woman with the expensive ointment) said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a beautiful thing to Me. For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have Me. In pouring this ointment on My body she has done it to prepare Me for burial.” Matthew 26:10 – 13

Lord what freedom You give us.

Once again I see how everyone wants something different. Who was right?

Thank You Lord for showing us that You loved what this woman did and how firm she stood in what she was doing.

Thank You for helping us stand firm. We need Your strength Lord. Oh how we love You.

Thank You Lord.

But when the disciples saw it, (woman pouring expensive ointment on Jesus) they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste? For this ointment might have been sold for a large sum, and given to the poor.” Matthew 26:8, 9

Choices Lord. It is all about choices. The disciples thought of the poor. The woman loved You and wanted to do something very special for You. Our lives today continue to be about choices.

Lord I find with my own choices it is only with Your guidance and direction that I know what to do.

Thank You for Your wisdom Lord.

Thank You for Your guidance.

I need it Lord and I thank You for always hearing.

Oh how I thank You.

Thank You Lord.

Now when Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, a woman came up to Him with an alabaster jar of very expensive ointment and she poured it on His head, as He sat at the table. Matthew 26:6, 7

Lord what an exciting thing for this woman to do. She obvious loved You very much and wanted to show her love for You.

Thank You Lord that there are ways today we can give back to You. You have just given us the list of ways in our previous verses that we can show our love for You.

Thank You for the natural expressions of love You instill within us.

Thank You that we can never out give You. You always give us more than we could ever expect.

It is wonderful to be able to give.

Thank You for all we have received from You.

Thank You Lord.
