Thought For Today

And He (Jesus) said to them, “Take heed what you hear; the measure you give will be the measure you get, and still more will be given you. For to him who has will more be given; and from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away.” Mark 4:24, 25

Lord You tell us it is more blessed to give than receive. Here You are talking about the fact that the more we give the more we will receive.

Thank You Lord for all You have given us. You gave us Your life.

Oh how we thank and praise You.

(Jesus continued) “If any man has ears to hear, let him hear.” Mark 4:23

Lord You said that before to those that were listening to You about the sower of the seeds. Now you were saying it again after the explanation. We can often hear but as we so often say ‘it goes in one ear and out the other.’ When You were asking them to hear and said it twice You wanted them to listen and think on it.

Thank You Lord for talking with us today through Your scripture.

Thank You for helping us ‘hear’ and gain new insights.

It is as we stay close to You that we learn and learning changes our lives. Oh how we need Your change Lord and thank You for it.

(Jesus continue) “For there is nothing hid, except to be made manifest; nor is anything secret, except to come to light.” Mark 4:22

Thank You Lord that You know the truth about us.

There are no secrets in our lives. You know us and You know all about us.

I am so grateful Lord that in spit of Your knowledge of me You still love me and accept me with Your unconditional love.

Oh how I praise and thank You.

And He (Jesus) said the them, “Is a lamp brought in to be put under a bushel, or under a bed, and not on a stand? Mark 4:21

Lord this verse reminds me of the song that has a fantastic meaning ….. ‘This little light of mine. I’m gonna let it shine.

How great it is to let our light shine for You.

Thank You for giving us a glow within that shines out for the world to see.

Oh how blessed we are Lord.

(Jesus continued) “But those that were sown upon the good soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.” Mark 4:20

Lord thank You for those that hear and turn their lives over to You to serve You.

I was that seed that when it was sown in my heart I accept You as Lord of my life. The difference was amazing and I thank You for Your call to come follow You. Oh how I praise and thank You.

And others are the ones sown among thorns; they are those who hear the word, but the cares of the world, and the delight in riches, and the desire for other things, enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. Mark 4:18, 19

Lord even those of us that love You struggle to not let the cares of the world keep us from worshiping You as we should. It is so easy to get busy doing good things and forgetting what is truly important.

Thank You for Your gentle spirit that calls us back……back to You Lord….back to what YOU want us to be doing.

We are Your children and You hold us tightly in love. Oh how we need that and thank You.

(Jesus continued) And these in like manner are the ones sown upon rocky ground, who, when they hear the word immediately receive it with joy; and they have no root in themselves, but endure for a while; then, when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately they fall away. Mark 4:16, 17

Lord these are the people that hear Your words and think they want to follow You but when the going gets rough they bale out. They really had not made a true commitment to follow You.

Thank You Lord for never giving up on us.

Thank You for continuing to call us to come follow You.

Oh how we appreciate You Lord and thank You for being with us each moment of every day.

And these are the ones along the path, where the word is sown; when they hear, Satan immediately comes and takes away the word which is sown to them. Luke 4:15

How sad Lord when those that hear reject You. Oh they hear but they want no part of You.

I am so thankful Lord that when I heard I accept You as my Lord.

Thank You for calling me to come follow You. Oh what a wonderful day that was and I thank You.

Lord how grateful I am for those that share Your word. Thank You for the insights and knowledge You have given them.

And He (Jesus) said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables? Mark 4:13

Lord these were Your followers You were talking to. They didn’t understand Your parable and You told many parables. You wanted them to understand and told them what You meant.

Lord there are so many things we don’t understand today too. Some things are easy to see and understand but there are some that we will never understand while living on this earth. We just have to trust You with our lives knowing that You are in control and want the best for us. Oh how blessed we are Lord because You are Lord of our live. We thank You.
