But He (Jesus) was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care if we perish?” Mark 4:38

Lord I have always found this a fascinating verse. You were sleeping and they woke You up and asked You if You cared if they perished. How would You have even known about the storm since You were sleeping.

Thank You Lord that You do care about the storms in our lives.

Thank You for always being there to bring comfort.

Oh how blessed we are because You love us.

Thank You Lord. Thank You.

And a great storm of wind arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. Mark 4:37

Lord what a frightening time for those in the boats. There is nothing you can do when caught in a storm like this. I was in a boat crossing the English Channel with the waves crashing against the window. The storm was so sever that it took us 45 minutes longer to cross. When given the opportunity to go out into the choppy waters to cross to the island in a gondola when in Venice I chose not to go. Remembering the experience of the English channel and the storm there stopped me.

Lord there are many emotional storms in our lives today too. You are with us through each one of them just as You were with me when crossing the English Channel. Thank You for ALWAYS being with me.

Thank You Lord.

And leaving the crowd, they took Him (Jesus) with them, just as He was, in the boat. And other boats were with Him. Mark 4:36

Lord You wanted to go to the other side of the sea and Your disciples took You. Mark tells us that other boats followed. He doesn’t tell us who were in the other boats or how many boats there were that were following. We do know that others wanted to be near You to see what You would do.

Thank You Lord for giving us the desire to follow You. Oh how different our lives are when we follow You. You change us into Your image. Oh how we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

On that day, when evening had come, He (Jesus) said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” Mark 4:35

Lord it is interesting that You chose to come to earth at the time You did. Your exposure was limited …..very limited. Today You could have been seen around the world.

Thank You Lord for coming at the ‘right’ time.

Thank You for dying on the cross and not staying in the grave.

Thank You for our salvation. Oh how blessed we are and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

With many such parables He (Jesus) spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it; He did not speak to them without a parable, but privately to His own disciples he explained everything. Mark 4:33, 34

Thank You Lord for speaking to us today too.

Thank You for giving us listening ears to hear and hearts open to receive.

We are Your children Lord and are here to listen and to learn.

Oh how we thank You for teaching us.

Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable shall we use for it? Mark 4:30. It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of the seeds on earth; yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.” Mark 4:31, 32

Lord You tried to describe the kingdom of God with an illustration they would understand. When I was in high school I often wore a necklace that had a mustard seed inside of a round clear ball. I have never seen a mustard seed grow so I had no clue what it would be like but I wore it to remind me that if I had faith that small anything was possible.

How I thank You Lord for faith to believe and trust. It all comes from You and I thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable shall we use for it? Mark 4:30.

Lord thank You being here on earth. What could You use to describe what the kingdom of God is like. Lord how can we describe what our life in You is like Sometimes there are just no words that can express what we want to describe.

Thank You Lord for giving us a life of peace because we know You.

You are our rock and we thank You for being with us each moment of every day.

Thank You Lord. Thank You….

(Jesus continued) “But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.” Mark 4:29.

Thank You Lord for giving this earth we live on a process.

Thank You for helping us learn from You.

We too are a work in progress Lord. We have accepted You as our Lord and Savior and then we spend the rest of our lives living to serve You. Oh now blessed we are to be called Your children.

Thank You! Thank You LORD

(Jesus continued) “The earth produces of itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.” Mark 4:28

Lord You talked about things that these people knew all about. You were talking with those gathered about the growing cycle. We too are like this illustration…..first we hear Your call to us….when we respond Your love within us begins to grow larger and larger. And then we continue to mature and become more and more like You.

Oh how we thank You Lord for changing us moment by moment and day by day.

Thank You…. Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed upon the ground, and should sleep and rise night and day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he knows not how. Mark 4:26, 27

Lord how true it is as we look around our lives today. Your word has been scattered. There are those that sprout and those that stay dormant. We never know who will respond when the seed is sown. Some we wonder how they can keep from turning to You. Others that turn to You we never dreamed would heed to Your call. Your miracles of love are all around us. Your unconditional love is ours whether we take it or reject it.

I am so glad Lord that I answered Your call at such a young age. You are my Lord and I am Your child. Oh how I praise and thank You.

Thank You Lord. Thank You…..
