For John said to Herod, “It is your brother’s wife.” And Herodias had a grudge against him (John), and wanted to kill him. But she could not, for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and kept him safe. When he heard him (John), he was much perplexed; and yet He heard him gladly. Mark 6:18 – 21

Lord it sounds to me that Herod had a searching heart. He was perplexed when he heard You but he was always glad to hear you. He was in a very difficult situation. He wanted to keep John safe and his wife Herodias wanted him killed.

Thank You Lord for showing us the way to You.

Thank You for Your guidance and direction. Lord, we love You and want to be all we can be for You. Thank You for Your peace and joy. Oh how we need it. Thank You!

Thank You Lord.

But when Herod heard of it (Jesus disciples healing the sick and casting out demons) he said, “John, whom I beheaded has been raised.” For Herod had sent and seized John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife; because he had married her. Mark 5:16, 17

Thank You Lord for bringing the gift of freedom into our lives.

Herod was afraid because he knew he had done something wrong. He was waiting for the other shoe to drop… so to speak.

Thank You Lord for helping us do the right thing. It isn’t always easy Lord and we recognize Your help and Your strength. Oh how we thank You…..

Thank You Lord.

King Herod heard of it; (the disciples healing and casting out demons) for Jesus name had become known. Some said, “John the baptizer has been raised from the dead; that is why these powers are at work in Him.” But others said, “It is Elijah.” And others said, “It is a prophet, like one of the prophets of old.” Mark 6:14, 15

There were certainly lots of opinions on who You were Lord. These were those that had not accepted You. They were still all trying to figure out who You were.

Thank You Lord for those who had the faith to believe You and the wisdom to accept You as the Son of God.

Thank You that we too have the same option…we can accept or reject You.

Oh how happy those of us are that have accepted You.

Thank You for Your gift of life for each of us that love and serve You.

Thank You Lord. Thank You.

And they (Jesus disciples) cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them. Mark 6:13

What an amazing time for Your disciples Lord. You told them what to do and they quickly followed Your directions. They must have been so excited and amazed as they went about healing those that need Your touch so badly.

Thank You Lord for Your healing touch.

Oh how we need it Lord and thank You for it.

Thank You Lord.

So they (Jesus disciples) went out and preached that men should repent. Mark 6:12

Thank You Lord that You have given each of us that know You this same power and zest to tell others about You.

Thank You for Your Holy Spirit that quickens our words about You within the hearts of those that hear.

We are not alone Lord for it is You that gives us the knowledge and wisdom as we share our lives with others.

Oh how we thank You that You are with us each moment of every day.

Thank You! Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) said to them, (His disciples) “Where you enter a house, stay there until you leave the place. And if any place will not receive you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet for a testimony against them.” Mark 5:10

Lord it is rather amazing that the very same people that saw all these miracles would still not believe. Your disciples received the commission to go out away from You and do what You had been doing. They obeyed and did as You asked. You knew there would be those that would reject them also.

Lord there are still those today that have heard and seen and still do not believe.

Thank You Lord for a heart that believes. Oh how I thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) called to Him the twelve, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a staff; no bread, no bag, no money in their belts; but to wear sandals and not put on two tunics. Mark 6:7 – 9

Wow Lord what must have your disciples have thought when they were to take nothing with them. That took real faith.

Often it takes faith on our part too Lord to follow Your calling on our lives. We like Your disciples often walk with blind faith. The good news is You never fail us. You are always there and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) marveled because of their (His home town people) unbelief. And He went about among the villages teaching. Mark 6:6

Thank You Lord for not giving up just because their were those that didn’t believe in You.

Thank You for giving us the strength we need to face our opposition each day. It isn’t always easy but with Your help and guidance we know we can make it.

Oh how we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) could do no mighty works there, (in His own country) except that He laid His hands upon a few sick people and healed them. Mark 6:5

Those fortunate few Lord that You healed. Obviously they believe and wanted Your healing touch.

It so interesting even today that those that know us so well often find it hard to accept the gifts You have given us. That was what You were experiencing in Your own town sad to say. But in spite of it there were still those that believed in You and trust You and were healed.

Thank You Lord for helping us see that You were no different than we are as far as having others not trust You or believe in You.

Thank You for being with us each moment through those difficult times of rejection by others. You know how that feels. You are there with comfort and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And Jesus said to them, (people from his own town) “A prophet is not without honor, except in His own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. Mark 6:4

Lord, because You were from their town these people listening to You in the synagogue couldn’t accept You. After all You were one of the home town kids. Even though they wondered how You could know so much and speak with such wisdom, they still wouldn’t accept You.

Lord I’m so glad we have Your words of wisdom to enlighten us and show us who You truly are. We have the Bible with all the stories of Your life that give us encouragement as we walk with You.

Thank You for being with us each step of our journey with You. We are oh so blessed!

Thank You. Thank You Lord.
